At 3m47 you show a vintage Zefal hp pump. I have this exact pump that I bought in the early 80's but a plastic part at the end of the pump shaft has disintegrated, rendering it useless. Is this pump repairable or should I just get a newer Zefal model?
I would think if you ordered the wrong size you could simply send it back and get the correct size. I still have one of these pumps I bought way back in 1981 and it still works great, the funny thing is I've never oiled the seal, bad me, but it still works. I also used this same pump to wack a dog that tried to attack me, I bloodied the dogs nose but didn't even scratch or dent the pump. It is heavier than even large mini pumps, but it will last a very long time and get a road tire up to 110 psi in about 120 east pumps whereas with even the best mini will take around 220 strokes with the last 50 or so being very difficult and getting more so as you approach 110 psi. Most mini pumps can't even get to 80 regardless of the claim that a pump is rated at 160 psi, there are only two or three, maybe four mini pumps on the market that can exceed 80 psi.
Thanks for the video. I have the HPX-3. I see that when you flip the pieces to convert from Presta to Schraeder there is a metal piece that goes up the middle of the rubber piece. I am missing that metal piece. Is there any way to get it? Thanks.
I have an old HPX-3, and I wasn't sure how to convert it. Turns out that it's configured a little differently than the one he shows in this video. Instead of the metal piece inside the rubber washer as shown here, there's a black plastic piece that sits within the head, between the rubber washer and the thumb lock lever. That piece, about half the length of the rubber washer, needs to be taken out and 180'ed as well. I got to it easily using needle nose pliers.
I bought the recommended size Zefal pump for my frame size and it's about an inch too short to hold itself in place with the spring tension. So now I need to strap it in place with velcro straps. I'm starting to think these things are obsolete for a reason. Nice, helpful video though :)
You answered all my questions and blew my puppy dog mind! Thank you for posting this video.
Thanks so much for the instructions on switching from presta to Schrader !
Wonderful video, answered all my questions succinctly. Thanks!

Sadly when I flip my nozzle piece it doesn't fit on schrader valves.

❤❤❤
thanks!
Can you just leave the setting on X rather than HP ?
You will be fighting the spring and not feel when tire pressure gets hard
