  • Recently I surveyed you guys and many of you said you want to keep your wardrobes looking current, but without having to shop for new things all the time. That made me think, that investing in a few great timeless pieces to create the base of your wardrobe should help with that!
So in today's video, I have listed my favourite timeless basics that will stand the test of time in your wardrobe. Throughout the video, I also share 25+ outfit ideas styling these timeless basics.
Like I said in the video, this is not a list of items that you need everything of! You need to establish for yourself what timeless basic pieces best suit your lifestyle and your personal style. I hope you can also find inspiration from the many outfit ideas shared in today's video as well.

Love all of your timeless wardrobe basics. My go-to wardrobe basic is JEANS 😂 I’m really working on expanding my wardrobe by narrowing down. Getting out of the thrift shopping trap. I need more dresses, new boots, and my dream staple is a Chanel handbag. You have an amazing figure so skinny jeans looks great on you. Love your secondhand Guess jeans.

Love the point you made about jeans and getting them in a cut that works for your body shape and that you love and feel great in. Being on the muscular curvy size its wide leg for me. I've always had a wide leg pair in my closet every decade and I go back to that cut time and time again despite whats "popular" at the time. Thanks for this reminder.

I'm on a weight loss journey, and besides the health benefits that I know I'm working toward, something that excites me is the idea of planning for a new wardrobe. I have a wool and cashmere coat that is possibly my favorite garment in my entire closet...I'll be sad the day I retire it because it would've become too large. BUT, now that I know what colors suit me best, instead of replacing it for one in the same soft tan color, I'll get one in a light shade of gray. The tan/camel one has served me well, but an icy gray would definitely go better with the teal, mulberry, raspberry, plum, rose, emerald, cobalt, burgundy, light blue, sage green, bright white, and navy hues my wardrobe is veering to.

Ahhh Emily, you are simply the best. I love your outfits and the emphasis you place on finding our own version of the individual items you chose. Like you, I love cardigans too, more than jumpers. As a petite the oversized trend just does nothing for me, yes skinny jeans will remain in my wardrobe too. I have been replacing my go to pieces with better quality items recently ie: silk; cashmere; wool; linen; bamboo. I now recognise what will stay in my wardrobe, no matter what the current trends are. Stay safe and well 😉😊💓

For me, a well fitted pure denim jacket (I’m not a fan of elastane) is a fantastic basic for me. It adds such a lovely casual vibe. It’s perfect for making an outfit look relaxed.
On the other hand, I find a classic trench coat/jacket helps me to add a bit more of a chic and classy vibe to a simple outfit when I need to dress up a bit.
    Ps. I love your videos - you’re amazing 💜

Love this video, Emily Elizabeth! You look fabulous in everything. I totally agree with you about the skinny jeans…I love them and wear them regardless of what’s the top trend. (Love straight and bootcut too.) I would add a leather jacket - blazer, motto, etc. to your excellent list. That’s always a go-to for me and there are so many options out there (vegan leather/faux leather). Cheers! ❤️

Hi Emily! Perfect pieces! 💙👏 the Sezane jumper looks so great on you! And I’ve seen it a lot lately but not fitting someone so greatly as it does to you. 💙

A little tip for my fellow low contrast girlies:
I have fair, warm skin and quite low contrast between my feautures (ergo, light red hair, light eyebrows, light green eyes) so black objectively looks dreadful on me. Preferably skip black all together but sometimes wear black bottoms and accessories. Never tops though. Have to keep the black away from my face.
And speaking the black dress: Reserved for funerals. It just does not look elegant or elevated when it drains my features like that. BUT I have noticed that dark, warm gray or very deep and muted green have the same elegant effect on me that black does for people with higher contrast. So my little black dress is a dark, muted green (: you can always take these (very good) tips and tweak them to work for you.

Great video Emily! You never disappoint and I am always so inspired by your looks. I love that you don't care about trends. Glad you finally found the Sezane sweater you wanted! I find it so rewarding to finally find the piece I want after a long search. Last week, I finally found the oversized black blazer on my wish list for over a year. It was brand new with tags still attached and I paid the third of the price. This blazer is still sold by the brand but I did not want to pay almost 300$ for it. I am so glad I waited to find it second hand. I love your vintage black handbag. It's so pretty!

I have settled on the jeans I like and feel most comfortable in: a medium wash mom jeans look that I have to have altered so they are not too baggy for my frame (I am petite and slender). I like the slight extra ballooning up top for the sake of comfort so long as it is within reason. HOWEVER, you obviously don't live in LA because the last time I paid $15 to have ANYTHING altered was probably fifteen years ago!! Even shortening the hem of pants costs at least $20, and anything that involves tailoring of the legs is closer to $30 lol! However, it is worth it to end up with a look that really works for you.

    • @Orphiliac
      @Orphiliac 2 роки тому +2

The same here in Sao Paulo, but it worth when we know the jeans will last many years. I had a dark wash straight leg one altered a couple of months ago and it cost a kidney 🤪

    • @Jennie8684

Loved it! Except, PPL need support in their shoe's.... I have to buy quality products for my feet. I need traction & bed support. JACK RUSSELL makes great sandal type shoe's.

I recently lost weight and it about killed me to give away my wool coats, a gorgeous black one that I always felt glamorous in, and a red wrap that was a present from my daughter. They were so big that I looked like a clown.

Hello! I read your comment and couldn’t fell bad for the clothing because I genuine feel happy for you. My husband has been fighting against obesity (I don’t know if this is your case or not) but I know how difficult is to loose weight and how important is to be healthy. So dear, if you lost weight and is healthier now, go and buy a wonderful second hand wool coat full of history and enjoy it as much as you can. 💙
If it’s not your case, I really hope you’re healthy now anyway and loved. 💙

I disagree with the black dress. I don't really wear black other than as an accent colour on some accessories, etc. Black makes me look dour and washes me out. I do think having a any kind of dress that can be dressed up or down is a necessity, though.

I agree! I commented this on someone else's comment, but I think for my coloring (muted with cool undertones) navy and charcoal work so much better than black, and can be just as classic of a dress/pant/shoe.

DO NOT buy from Organic Basics!!! I bought two t-shirts. It is way too boxy and the neck is very tight. When I wanted to return the items, I was told that I can only get store credit if I want to get a free return label, if I wanted the refund, I would have to mail the items back to Denmark and pay the mailing fee by myself. Then I was told that their system had some glitch that they could not create free return label even for store credit return. The worst purchasing experience that I have even had. Never, Ever, Buy from Organic Basics!!!
