@@KurtPapke No problem I did island lake and ice Lake two days ago today I did columbine that was definitely a challenge I actually attempted it yesterday but turned around because of potential thunderstorms once I’ve made it above tree line
Sure is! I'll be taking it on another trip canoeing in the Boundary Waters and up into Canada's Quetico in a couple of weeks. Hopefully it'll make another cameo appearance if I get footage for another video of that trip.
Would you say that the Cascade Creek or Molas to Animas hike was better? Difficulty aside, which one was more rewarding and had a more diverse scenery?
Great video! I’m thinking of driving into the San Juan mountains this summer and hiking multiple trails. Were the roads to these trails rough? I’ve got a car and don’t have a high clearance vehicle so I’d like to know if these hikes are even accessible
Kurt Papke awesome yea that’s the only time I have a full 2 weeks so hope it’s clear at least for the most part. Thanks for the video definitely enjoyed it
Beautiful country! Thanks for sharing Kurt!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Gorgeous views. Any wildlife?
Only a few marmots. We spend a week every year in the San Juans, and rarely see any wildlife. The bears are all in Durango raiding people’s trash!
Very nice Kurt, way to rock the Blackbird, I just received a Ridge Runner and will break it in next month out in the Sawtooths of Idaho
Warbonnet makes great hammocks, you'll love it!
Beautiful video! Going to subscribe
Hey thanks!!

Great video Kurt, thanks for sharing!
+Kevin Scott thanks! See you at the hang!
WOW Great trip very different than Tucson. Hope you got a chance to fish those lakes!
Thanks for the feedback! No fishing on this trip - good point though, that's something I should do more of again!!
Looks like a great trip Kurt. Good to see that the Shangri La is still holding up well for you.
Cheers, Paul

Molas to Animas has more diverse scenery and sweeping vistas. Cascade Creek is more intimate.

Some are sedan-accessible, some aren't. I would consult AllTrails to check for current conditions.
Just got back from Ice Lake Basin! We hit the same hikes.
That's pretty amazing - we planned ours using Alltrails, perhaps you did something similar.
Great Kurt , What time of year were these flowers out ? Amazing. going this year
Late July, early August. This has turned into an annual trip for the Tucson Backpacking Meetup group, we are going to the same basecamp this year.
thank you
snoo333 welcome!
What month did you go? Oh and amazing job love the video. We are thinking about going the last week of May for 2 weeks
May is pretty early. We go every year, last week of July or first week of August.
