Since I can't find broccoli rabe where I live I figured I'd enjoy watching you cook my favorite italian vegetable! I can smell the garlic.....mmmmm thanks!!
Bobbi Bellardine it’s nice to meet you! My great aunt Caroline has lived at 10th and Moore for as long as I’ve been alive! We’ve definitely bumped in to each other at some point neighbor!!
Wow 😳 this is the easiest way I’ve ever seen this recipe I looooove broccoli rabe and sausages they taught me to Blanche first it to make it less bitter but since you said it doesn’t matter if you do not Blanche I’m going to try it tonight thank you so very much for your honesty about this recipe since I’m not Italian I will listen to the Italian chef ( Do not blanche) 👍👍👍👍
So glad to see you using all of the broccoli rabe and sauteeing it. So many others on YT cut off the whole stem and throw it away, then they boil it. Your way is the way I grew up with. Sautéed with plenty of garlic.
Thank you for sharing. I'm black, from the Caribbean, and my boyfriend is American Italian, and boy, does he love garlic. I love your way of cooking broccoli rabe because you don't boil it then pour all the great nutrients down the drain. I'm cooking 2 huge bunches for him tight now. They are super loaded with garlic and exotic hot peppers.
Hello from Canada! Love your rapini recipe! Just like my mamma used to make! Brilliant! Just discovered you and love your style lol, especially the "ok, let's talk about the sausage" lol ... keep up the great work!
Vince, I showed this video to my husband and he says he is not impressed unless you show us how to cook it using Ryobi tools. :-) I did find this recipe to be the best way to cook broccoli rabe.
Oh be my God! Thank you so much! You made rapini just like the way my Italian mom cook it. Ma added it sometimes to pasta. It brought back the aroma of Ma's kitchen. GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!! I will be watching your you tube from now on.♥️🙏
Love this video. Nothing like an Italian cook! Thee best. I grew my own broccoli rabe this year. Tomorrow I harvest and cook! Where’s the Italian bread? Lol.
Many years ago, I made a Julia Child recipe with broccoli rabe, sausage and orchietta pasta. And you’re right: people overthink the rapini! Thank you for presenting it in a not-so-intimidating way! My husband brought some home today, and thanks to you, he will have that for dinner tonight!
Thanks so much for taking time to go through all steps. This will be my first time making the dish for Christmas dinner, I’m confident it will be awesome! Happy Holidays!
Man, I really appreciate you keeping it simple. I don't enjoy cooking, but I listened to your greens and beans video and really impressed myself and my husband with what I made. I also didn't hate making it! Super big thanks!
I love eating this veggie but never tried cooking it myself. Came upon this vid & enjoyed it very much. I’m gonna follow this recipe bcz it seemed simple enough. I don’t enjoy complicated cooking either. TY!
I’m not even close to being Italian but I looooooove Italian dishes so I’ve learned to make them but this broccoli rabe recipe is the easiest I’ve ever seen someone taught me to blanche it first but your recipe is the bomb and took less time 😱 I’m soooo hungry for some now 😂😂I can eat this 7 days of the week thank you you’re a great chef btw this is my first time watching your channel and definitely not my last I like your simplicity and honesty 💕💕❤️❤️
Vincent, Thank you for your video- I watched it 3 times to get the best outcome. Today,I am cooking broccoli rabe for the first time and will follow your recipe. Funny, in the grocery store I did hear all of the things that people do when cooking broccoli rabe and found your approach to be the best one for us. - Very similar to how I make escarole and beans.
I cooked fresh broccoli rabe for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I basically did what you have shown here but mine was bitter. I’m going to try cutting the stem & separate it from the leaves & flowers to cook first and try it again. Thanks for the info!
I got 2 from Wal-mart and I don't know how to cook it, hence watching this video. Thanks for sharing. I can smell and taste the rapini through my screen 😁
Good job Vincent. Wish I could get the real Italian sausage with fennel but I did buy broccoli rabe and making it for company tomorrow with a Sicilian swordfish recipe. You make it right. Bellissimo.
Hey Vincent. My daughters and I loved watching your video. We're making broccoli rabe tonight for Father's Day! We knew you were a hometown Philly boy as soon as we starting watching. We recognized many things in your kitchen that we had also. Can't wait to try your broccoli rabe! We'll let you know how it turns out. I want to try that sausage place you talked about too!
like the Andy boy today i'm giving your recipe a try pretty sure i'm going to like it (here I Go) OKEY all done came out great I like cutting the stems shorter small peace 2 rolls later thanks
Love your recipe. I love broccoli rabe but never had a good time preparing it. You made it so easy and will now eat more broccoli rabe. I want to go to Philly now and get those sausages!
Loooove Rapini annnnd this video. I'm so happy I came upon it. You did a great job of this. It kept my attention and your delivery, heart warming. I have to tell you though, I do quickly soft boil my rapini (stalks first) before I saute it, only because, I loooove the broth that is rendered so I can dip true bruschetta in it's broth. Rapini is not easily found where I live in Atlantic Canada!! Today, I just happened to go to a grocery store, I rarely go to, glanced around while in the produce section and BOOM …. there was Rapini … $4.99 a bunch. I bought them all!!! $35.00 later, I was a happy Nonna. hahahahhaaa. I called the store when I got home and they have 4 bunches in the cooler that I will pick up and their next order comes in next week. I'm on it! I definitely have to research how to grow rapini in the Maritime climate. Thank you so much for your wonderful video! It truly brightened my day! All the best to you and yours always from the east coast of Canada.
Vincent--You bring back many cool memories for me of my cousins (12 of them) from South Jersey. Even though my family lived in New York, visiting them was our "vacation" in the summer and they had the BEST tomatoes on earth. Thanks for your charming and funny and very Italian, way of speaking and thinking. The only thing i didn't hear was the way they pronounced the word "Acme" as in "Ach-a -me" Superrmarket! All the best to you!
That looks great I think I will be doing this recipe also but I think I will cook my sausage first and use the oil from the sausage to salute the rabe. Love that you cook the stems first great video. Keep cooking vince
Just the way I cook it (I’m Welsh) - I’m the only one in my family who loves broccoli rabe - I can’t always come across a decent sausage - but I often get fennel seed and grind it up and add it to compensate, it’s also tasty in marinara sauce
I like how you made it. That way it stays bitter and crispy. If you put the lid on, the bitterness gets steamed out, and it is mushy. You did it the right way cooking the thicker parts first. Then you don't waste it, and it is more intersting. It usually isn't cheap to buy it. I added a little wine vinegar to mine, and it came out less bitter also. I like it better the way you did it though.
I missed lunch and I stupidly pushed on your video...what was I thinking?... Can drooling be added as a like? 😆 This looks wonderful and I'll definitely be using your suggestion of cooking the stems first, love it! Thank you!
This looks really great, thanks. Is that a creuset pan? Also, how do you cook the sausage? Do you start it in the pan with some water first to cook the sausage inside more before frying it, or is it frying only? Thanks!
I’m going to try it this way. Everyone loves the way I cook mine but it takes me hours. I separate the flowers, cut the stringy parts off the stems, and boil
Hi Vincent, You made this look so easy, I thought I would try it out. It was very easy, and I am enjoying my favorite broccoli rabe. I put lots of garlic just like you said. Delicious! Just one question about the garlic, it got really deep brown. Is that right? Still an excellent recipe and the best dish ever! Thank you. I'm hanging on to this one.
