Nona Gina: I love your videos. You are not only an exceptional cook, you warm our hearts with your sweet loving personality. Watching your videos brings sunshine into our lives. You remind us that it's the simple things in life that matter. Delicious food is the glue that holds family and friends together. There is nothing better than a home cooked meal that has been passed on for generations. We are very grateful to you for sharing your treasured recipes and techniques. Thank you again Nona Gina, You are my Sunshine.
The only thing that's better than Broccolu Rabe are Guna's stories. She is a treasure. What a beautiful Grandma, so young at heart. She makes everyone smile during this difficult time we are experiencing. Stay safe Gina and family. Tomorrow is Palm Sunday. Saluto domenica delle palme.
I love Grandma. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York and we have a whole borough full of grandmas. But your grandma is so sweet and I love her cooking..authentic. I moved to Texas and we don’t have authentic culture. When I need a touch of my upbringing...I watch grandma’s videos. I also love her cooking. My friend from New York moved to Los Angeles. And she’s 1/2 Italian. I’m always sending her the videos... it’s reminds her of her grandmother. So thank you for making these and thank grandma. She has a nice sense of humor too.
You are just like my grandparents, they cooked, sang while cooking and I'm sure the taste is probably similar. We ate things that you cook and shared meals with others. I grew up in East Boston, MA in the sixties and life was simple and well full of love even in bad times. I proud to An Italian, both sides of my family, mostly from the south of Italia. Thank you for your love and joy, as well as the familiar Italian songs. Love ya Phil Tavella
Yesterday, I saw LYDIA BASTIANICH, on UA-cam. LYDIA was on PBS for years on Sunday afternoon but you could NOT get the recipes unless you bought the cookbook(s). The first thing I thought was, GINA has it all over Lydia, and GINA gives and cooks her recipes with a song from her heart. After I clicked on to as much as there was of LYDIA BASTIANICH, there was little - her recipes are STILL not available! That's just kinda crazy... So, thanking you once again, GINA, for your videos and all the love you put into sharing your recipes from beginning to end❣
Hello Gina, I'm Gloria DeBlasio and I'm an Italian American. I've watched you making this dish in the past but when I can't decide what to cook, I just turn on your videos here on UA-cam and I can always find something that looks so delicious that I want to cook it. Today I'll be making this dish but I only have regular broccoli, not broccoli rabe. I'm sure it'll be just fine. Thank you, Gina, for sharing your recipes with us. I love you n wish I could sit and visit with you over a cup of coffee and some of your cinnamon cake.
Hello, I just started watching Italian Grandma. and really enjoy her authentic recipes. She is like a breath of fresh air and tell her not to worry about her english, I understand her perfectly. Just keep cooking, I love being in the kitchen with her. So happy to have found her thank you much. Cynthia Harris
Miss Gina, any time I am sad or feel like the burden on my shoulders is too much for me to handle, I watch your channel. You’re so loving, sweet and wholesome. You help remind me there is good in this world. I made a tomato sauce from scratch for my family tonight and hope it was with half as much love as you put in your food (though I bought my pasta! We just moved and I have no flour over here yet!)
Love your videos Gina ! You give the ‘professional chefs’ a run for their money ! I literally could watch and listen to you for hours , you take me back to simpler and better days. I wish you health and happiness. Thank you !! 💕😘
Hearing her accent makes me think of my grandmother and I'm crying as I'm writing this! I subscribed to your channel not too long ago because I too had a Italian grandmother who came over here in her teens, spoke broken English, and cooked from the soul and put her heart into every thing she made up until and including the day she died! Thank you so much for making this videos, it's so relaxing to see another Italian grandmother carrying on the tradition of cooking with foods they grew up with!
I love your videos grandma Gina 😊 Just listening to your voice is so comforting. Sometimes I do my schoolwork and turn your videos on. Am I the only one that finds comfort in her voice? 😀
She reminds me of my Mexican abuela/grandmother; soft spoken and sweet. I miss her 😞 but watching these videos reminds me of the times I spent cooking with my grandmother and watching her cook. If you’re lucky to have your grandparents with you still, please record them making their recipes. It will help to keep their memory alive & pass down their recipes forever.
Great advice, Jess! I wish I had done that with my grandmother. Her family recipes are gone with her. But Gina cooks a lot like her so I'm thrilled with these videos. :)
Gina - your videos make me so happy - I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to make these videos. My grandparents and parents have all gone away now - and your recipes bring them back for me!! Just watching you and hearing your love for your family fills my heart!! Thank you thank you 🙏 ❤️ you are a blessing!!!
Nonnina, my heart was heavy, but then I watched you lovingly prepare this wonderful dish and listened to your stories and then, little by little, I felt better. Sending you much love. 💕🕊️
Every time I watch these videos it makes me miss my Great Grandma and Great Great Aunt, they both were amazing cooks and just as loving and as beautiful as Mrs. Petitti, may they rest in peace.
There's my girl Gina!! Love, love, love this recipe!! My mouth is watering!! Hope you had a wonderfully blessed Christmas! Keep singing my friend!! God bless. 🙏❤️👍.
This is as authentic as it gets. I'm 75 and it brings back memories of all the old Italian women including my own mother and my aunts. It was their recopies I still use today. Grazie Nonna Gina. Dio ti Benedica, Puoi Vivere Cento Anni.
Thank you again for your wonderful cooking. It made me cry when you started singing at the end. I hadn't heard that song for a long time. I love you Mama Gina, God bless you and your family. Happy New Year to all of you!
Saw your show for the first time yesterday. Watched another one with my wife later that eve. We subscribed now I'm hooked. You are delightful. Everyone should have a grandma like you!!!!!
Nona Gina! Thank you for sharing your knowledge time and wirk with everyone... i will try to maje some of your recipes to impress my wife...i am useless in the kitchen but you will be my saving grace! Love when you sing and pray! God keep you and may our Lady always keep you close to her heart. Receive lots of love from us.
"GRANDMA" by CASPER the ghost writer.. she threw me some pitches--but kept me in stitches--A legacy worth more than riches--"older and wiser" she still kept her head--thanks to her something I"ll never dread--Her children so many! Ahh Gina, you bring back the days when my Nona taught me how to cook starting at age 12 and I just love to cook Italian all the time!! This is my first time watching and you brought happy tears to my eyes to listen to you sing that song! I love it. Thank you and God Bless!! I will keep watching!
Oh, dear, Gina! I was laughing so much about your father and the "hot" flavoring of his food. 😄 Thanks for the song and the joy that you bring to the kitchen Wishing you good health (and many more videos❤)
I just effin love watching this woman cook. I wish I had a gramma like her. I'm with the others who say she should make a cook book but nothing beats actually watching her cook so I hope someone gives her a cooking show. Much love gina! Thanks for sharing your experience.
I love her ! She is wonderful ....I am a Greek caterer and learned everything from my Yai Yai who taught me to cook just like this beautiful woman . God Bless her ...thank you for sharing !! 🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Cee Cee - what a beautiful thought to recognize about the bird chirping - I heard it too - but you thought it was Gina's husband showing his 'thanks' for making his favorite dish....Beautiful! I hope she responds to you. He's her angel now. Thank you for that, Cee Cee.....♡♡♡
...CeeCee, and later Gina posted she said that the bird chirping was IN FACT her husband saying 'thank you' to Gina for making his favorite dish! SO SWEET!
Thank you for cooking and sharing your videos with all of us! ♥️ I miss my Italian grandmother that has gone to be with the Lord, but she truly loved to cook! I’m so blessed that I had many years of her teaching me family recipes. She was an amazing cook and I miss her dearly. ♥️ Gina, when I watch you cook it’s like I’m with my Grandma again, you bring me so much joy! Thank you and God Bless.♥️🙏
I discovered rapini ie, Broccoli rabe, several years ago and fell in love with it’s bitter, lemony flavor. It’s a bit tough to chew but so flavorful. Now after watching Nonna Gina prepare it I’m convinced I’ve been cooking it wrong. I’ve always grilled or roasted it.
I LOVE broccoli rab! But after it's cooked I like to hve it very soft so I'll put the broccoli rab over a pot of simmering water - even the stems will soften up. My dad did ALL the grocery shopping and whatever he bought, my mom had to cook. You hve to know, though, my dad was born in 1910 and my mom, 1917. My mom made pesto by hand. No machines. Fenoch - my uncle would say, NOT the kind the goats eat. When I got my first apartment and I had to get married to respectfully move out of the house, I had to learn how to cook like my mother, if I wanted to eat. Thank you for your great presentation and recipes including the measurements and your hands on cooking for all to follow. Your videos, generosity, and love of sharing your cooking, makes everything happier and a better place to be!❣
My all time favorite is Broccoli Rabe, I just love this veggie..Also your homemade Fettuccine looks divine, what a great looking pasta! Everything you make I know is made with love for your family..Wishing you a wonderful Happy New Year! May God and the Angels watch over you now and forever Nonna Gina.
Dear Gina, I love you so much. You put so much love and passion to your meal and it is so great. I love watching you cooking and singing. God Bless you too.
Tu sei una donna Bella!!!!! You are really wonderful!!!!!!🤗 Molto grazie per la ricetta. I'm Hispanic, but I love your language. God bless you Mrs. Gina. Arrivederci!!
Gina, you are the best!! making your own Fettuccine..yummy!! I cannot watch these videos on an empty stomach..and I think Lidia Bastanhich would benefit from your lessons..you can really teach her a lot..this is the BEST Broccoli Rabe, recipe I ever did see...LOVE YOU..God Bless. You are a treasure...!!
My grandmother taught me how to cook broccoli rabe! She cleaned and cut and cooked just like you do. I’m almost 63 and I still miss my grandmother! I was almost 40 yrs old when she passed. I thank God I knew her as some don’t even know their grandmother. I like your recipe with Fettuccine! 🙏😻
Aside from all the obvious positives about Gina, for 84, she is STRONG! She hefts those big boiling pots to the sink like they were nothing! Keep active, Gina, and you can stay like that into your 90s like my mother has.
I am so glad I discovered your channel! You remind me so much of my Nonna ♥️. You cook a lot of the same foods she used to cook. I miss her so much, but you bring a little piece of her to me every video you create. You make my soul happy🥰. Ciao!
I’m watching this late at night and now I’m hungry! She is so adorable and takes me back to my childhood watching my parents cook. I can’t wait to make this dish! I’m Italian, Calabrese and Neapolitan...... the broccoli rabe was a staple in our home and I make it all the time. I can relate! God bless your Nona - pls tell her we appreciate her videos. Chin chin xoxo Geri from New Jersey
Ha! You describe the continuing battle in my family. My mother and father both thought the kids liked it too hot. We loved the spiciness and I still love spicy food. I also love garlic, but not if it is too hot and spicy. The way you have prepared it here and added to the broccoli on the plate is my favorite. The sauce with the broccoli in the gravy looks undeniably sumptuous; add that to your homemade fettuccine and I am ready to die happily. Gina you are killing me with delicious food I can taste in my mind, but not in my mouth! You are precious and inspire me to cook more of my mama's recipes. As always, I love to hear you sing. Bless you!
Gina. I made your Manicotti yesterday. Our whole family loved it. Thank you. You always make people happy. I cannot find brocoli rabe here in Singapore. Will find a substitute. I enjoy watching the way you cook! 🥰
Gina I am watching you from Sydney Australia. I love you. I am Greek .. una fatsa una ratsa. I have made some of your recipes..very nice cook. Good evening from Sydney Australia ❤
Grandma, that looks delicious and you look sooo happy making it. Definitely will try to make it tomorrow. And thank you for singing for us. 😘 God bless you and keep you.
So healthy. Love broccoli rabe and broccolini. My grandmother told me (not theItalian one) said that you should keep the vegetable water and let it cool, put in the garden. Very healthy for the flowers and veggies.
Yes, the water can be used as soup stock I drink them especially spinach, kale, and green cabbage,(just add a drop of salt to it if you want, they are a yummy and good source of protein and sometimes can help with constipation LOL
This lady is just a ray of sunshine. Love her kind soul.
ABSOLUTELY

Dear Gina thank you for sharing your family memories & beautiful dishes to serve our families 🤗Bless you & your family & have a blessed week🙏🏻💗

I just love her. She reminds me of all the elder Italian ladies I grew up around in South Philly! Same accent, same recipes.

I love your singing. It brings me back to sweet memories of my grandmother who was from Cosenza. Love you. God bless.
Hi Mrs Gina, I'm from Singapore and I love your recipes. You have given much confidence to make wholesome Italian food. You're inspiration,!
Everything home made! Wow! Keep singing, love you!💃

Hi our Gina, love you our little sweetheart..😘😘❤️❤️God Bless you always..😘❤️🙏✝️
