Ok, this was a bad cut that you found. I'm sure you've seen already, but this completely cut out Sapnap and Niki, and most of the intro and fun moments. It also changed some of the music Karl originally had, which fits the moments better. Highly recommend you just watch the full streams and cut what you feel is dull instead. Now some important things that you should know! Firstly, Dream was supposed to be here but was sick. This was before the song dropped and he was sick with worry. Based on the skin he was supposed to have, we can assume he was supposed to be a second butler with Ranboo. How the story would have changed? We don't know. But it's interesting to think about. Also we missed out on Techno bossing Dream around. Secondly, this is the first time we see The Inbetween. This was a big shock to all of us. It is a really interesting place that I hope we learn more about soon. Also, this video cut out Karl visiting his library afterwards. I highly highly recommend you go back and watch it. Rewatch this stream tbh this video cut wayyyyy too much. The inbetween also is a reference to Kingdom Heart's Castle Oblivion. Thirdly, this is the first tale that was not built on the SMP. The four before were, but now the builds are too big so they built them elsewhere, including the Inbetween. They are massive. Finally, this tale took place in the PAST. Karl said this when he set the scene at the beginning and it was cut out. The order so far in terms of when things happen seem to be Village went mad, Town that never was, Masquerade/Wild West (around same time, you'll see why), Beach Episode/Present Day, Lost City of Mizu (far far future). What to watch next? I would recommend Lost City of Mizu. Watch the stream, as everything in that stream is important. You can get the wrong idea if things are cut. Everyone is an Original Character, but Dream's is a little more special than the rest..... not saying anymore than that. Also remember this takes place in the far future where the current Dream SMP is a folk tale. Last but not least, remember Sir Billiam. He gets referenced a bit in the future.

@@YoBGS hey i would really suggest watching all the tales streams even in your own time because they are very clever and funny and then you’ll start to understand and get plots and jokes and references . plus the builds are really good too and i have a feeling this will start to have a bigger impact on the smp :)
@@YoBGS I think using the most popular doesn't always work because people watch highlights when they've already seen the original stream especially with a stream like this one where people would want to see the funny bits again. You've gotta think 200k people were watching it live so a lot of the views are people's who's already seen.
Please watch the Tales from the SMP VODS instead of edits. Since they're all one shots, they're easier to digest and you can see more funnier parts and small details missed in edits and cuts. Also please watch them in order, sir.

Karl is canonically a time traveler, who the more he travels the more he forgets about himself. He cannot control his powers and will travel at random. That is how the tales are connected together. Karl gathers stories from the past and the future Bringing them to the present and trying not to forget any more about himself. So that is why karl will always be the only one streaming it and always play himself.
The Lost City of Mizu is great too! I personally think it’s when the TFTSMP started to amp up its Production Quality. ❤️ It was the episode before this one. It explored some possible future arcs some characters might have. Edit: I forgot to finish my comment lol
If you want to see the full context not so weirdly cut, watch QuackInnit they do a hour videos with everything that happened. Watch that, it is a lot better. And it is not a 4 hours stream.
Yeah! It’s a good alternative if you can’t find the whole stream, I’m pretty sure that a whole vod would be a better idea for the whole story, and it could be edited down either way!

If you're going to watch the masquerade then you should also watch the village that went mad its in the past and the lost city of mizu which is in the far future and both are very important tales
They did skip angood realm of the lore. But what's sad about the editing imo here, is how they showed the egg scene in the first few seconds. Cause I'm the stream, that was an absolute mind-fuck to stumble into.

Uh......did you know that the theme song for the Eggpire is Spider Dance by Undertale? Maybe that's another reason the painting leading to the Egg was the painting of a spider.
Alright, just in case my comment in the premiere wasn't seen, I'll say it here again: For the other episodes, I recommend checking the channel QuackInnit. There's cuts on awkward silences, but the meat of the episodes are still intact. Due to this, the videos are 50-ish minutes long, but I think that it's better than cutting so much altogether. This whole Masquerade shenanigan is actually just one of the parts and the whole “Tales of the SMP” is like a side episodes or a Prequels and Sequels to the Dream SMP
This edit cut so many of the best jokes, but it seems like plenty of other people have pointed that out already. So instead, I'll mention that the music at the end was different in this cut than in the full vod because the original music was Kingdom Hearts music. They probably changed it worried about copyright. Definitely check out the full series, and the full vods of each episode. Preferably in order. The Masquerade was the second with major story implications, and was by far the biggest of the Tales to that point. The tales before that were far more comedy one-shot style things. The Village that Went Mad and the Beach Episode were pretty much just minigames. The Lost City of Mizu, though, is definitely one you need to watch. It's incredible, and the possible plot threads are so cool. The vods can be long for the Tales episodes, but the full thing is just... such a different experience than an edited down version. Well, at least the edit you found. It cut far too much. Any Tales edit under an hour I'd be skeptical of, honestly. The sheer amount of content in each episode...

The tales from the SMP are events that happen either before or after the current time of the smp (the streams). The characters sometimes have connections with the "main" characters (i.e. the streamers in the current time), the only person that is the same is Karl, who can't control when he time travels but he tries to keep a record of the things he encounters.
Here’s all episodes in order if you’re interested! Ep.1 - The village that went mad Ep.2 - The beach episode (basically) Ep.3 - The lost city of Mizu Ep.4 - The masquerade Ep.5 - The Wild West
Since it skipped a lot of the Inbetween, there were 2 other books that he found and read. The one on the tree was titled “Knowledge 1” and read: “You don’t get to choose when you time travel or when you return, but you already know that, and that is something that will remain true. Something that doesn’t need to remain true however, is your body’s deterioration. I know that every time you time travel, you love more and more understanding on who you are, and this is something that you can absolutely solve in the future. I can guarantee if you explore this castle enough, you will one day know what to do to stop losing yourself and have a better control over your mind. Good luck.” The last book he found was in the tower titled “A Warning” and it read: “I will leave you with one clear objective. You do not have a choice in the matter. You will continue to time travel, and you will continue to regroup back here in the inbetween... But- you must continue to write the stories along the way. The preservation is worth every second of your time. These stories are important to continue to share what the world is, and who you are. More important than each story individually is the library itself. Next time you’re back to your library, you need to move it. Find a peaceful land and start fresh. Try to get everyone to join you that will... but... Don’t let anyone know about where these stories really come from... don’t let anyone know about what the inbetween is... and don’t let any harm come upon your library... Til next time, enjoy yourself. I hope to see you back here soon.”
After this he was sent back to the present to his library where he wrote a short summary on what happened at the masquerade. After that, he wrote in his diary: “Diary #2 The inbetween. A place I don’t quite understand. I feel like I’ve been there before, but I can’t put my finger on it. I can’t keep losing my memory. And it seems like every time I go to the inbetween it happens, but I can’t just stop going. But... maybe there’s more to that place that I’m just unaware of... I have to keep looking deeper and deeper into the inbetween so I can find my way to ensure that I don’t lose everyone that’s so close to me. I need to move this library. It needs to be preserved. I will find every way possible to ensure that no matter what, I can do my part to bring happiness to these lands. One preserved story at a time. Don’t forget yourself.” Sorry, I feel like these are just super important parts of Karl’s story arc and I really don’t want you to miss out!
I suggest you watch the whole live stream of the masquerade tales of the smp in your spare time.. this cut out a lot of the plot and also about the inbetween

Christmas is _the_ big holiday of the year, everyone is trying to sell/shill everything, whereas all these other holidays are either highly localised (e.g. as a Brit, I've never even _heard_ of presidents day), or highly specialised. Try selling anything other than chocolate, gin and maybe holidays for valentines day, or chocolate for easter. The only reason Techno made it through Janurary is because he has a cobal of millionaires funding his lifestyle lol. So much got cut out he ends it by going to a library back on the dream smp where he keeps track of all the stories. In the book on the tree it explains that he looses memory when he time travels

Wow I think right now is Karls arc for this whole adventure just seems so amazing and that the tales of the smp and the egg are basically both the main focuses and they use seem amazing like wow also the build at the end
YES they're all amazing. And YES please react to all of them. For further context, the Tales From the SMP series follows the adventures of Karl while he time travels to different points in the past or future. The characters are original creations who are played by the SMP members and are descendants or ancestors of the current SMP members, though they're not always necessarily related to the one who played them
You should totally watch the rest of tales of the smp! Karl is indeed a time traveller, and each story gives you little pieces of lore, except for the first one, but its still really great. Here's a list of all the episodes: The village that went mad - Its like a game of mafia, and the characters are really cool The beach episode - Present day characters doing a fun little challenge with some history mixed in :] The lost city of mizu - In the future, or a separate timeline, very interesting and stirs up a lot of questions / theories The Wild West - What can I say? its the wild west. Not too much lore but the characters and story is still great. The ones you definitely need to hit are The lost city of Mizu and The village that went mad, but they're all great and had so much time put into them.

If You're Going to Watch the Tales of the Smp, there are afew others you should watch. The Village that went Mad. The Lost City of Mizu. (My Favorite Personally) The Beach Episode. The Wild West.
All the tales episodes are this good- but I would recommend watching the full vods- they’re a couple hours but it’s better to get the full story. Also be sure to watch them in order there are sometimes references to previous episodes.

A nice theory that people have is that, for the first time Wilbur wanted to blow up L'Manberg, Karl time traveled and destroyed the button connected up the TNT bellow L'Manber, because when Wil tries to press it, the button was destroyed and Karl tweeted that I was him but we all thought it was a joke

all tales from the smp eisodes are set either in the future or the past of the dream smp! this specifically is from the past as every other is besides "the lost city of mizu" which is set in the far future :) fun fact: the most recent one, "the wild west" is set around the same time as this one and has references to other tales episodes.
Im a little peeved that the person editing cut out so much good stuff, and the story in the Inbetween... I don't know if you've already been told/found this out, but the book Karl reads at the tree essentially tells him that the Inbetween is the key to Karl being able to control his abilities and how they affect him. The more he travels through time, he's begun to lose his memory and his sense of self. According to the book at the tree, if he explores the Inbetween and learns more about his powers, he'll be able to stop that from happening.

Karl’s lore is he’s a time traveler. In Tales from the SMP he goes back in time. every time he goes back in time, he’s in the middle of a conflict.

Definitely recommend watching full vods because they are so much better then edited versions and you need to watch The Lost City of Mizu, The Town that Went Mad and The Wild West (all of which are Tales from the SMP episodes)
This edit is awful, it cuts so much out and replaces the first lights out scene with darkness and never addresses niki.

The tales from the SMP are events that happen either before or after the current time of the smp (the streams). The characters sometimes have connections with the "main" characters (i.e. the streamers in the current time), the only person that is the same is Karl, who can't control when he time travels but he tries to keep a record of the things he encounters.
Here’s all episodes in order if you’re interested!
Ep.1 - The village that went mad
Ep.2 - The beach episode (basically)
Ep.3 - The lost city of Mizu
Ep.4 - The masquerade
Ep.5 - The Wild West
Since it skipped a lot of the Inbetween, there were 2 other books that he found and read. The one on the tree was titled “Knowledge 1” and read:
“You don’t get to choose when you time travel or when you return, but you already know that, and that is something that will remain true.
Something that doesn’t need to remain true however, is your body’s deterioration. I know that every time you time travel, you love more and more understanding on who you are, and this is something that you can absolutely solve in the future.
I can guarantee if you explore this castle enough, you will one day know what to do to stop losing yourself and have a better control over your mind.
Good luck.”
The last book he found was in the tower titled “A Warning” and it read:
“I will leave you with one clear objective. You do not have a choice in the matter. You will continue to time travel, and you will continue to regroup back here in the inbetween...
But- you must continue to write the stories along the way. The preservation is worth every second of your time. These stories are important to continue to share what the world is, and who you are.
More important than each story individually is the library itself. Next time you’re back to your library, you need to move it. Find a peaceful land and start fresh. Try to get everyone to join you that will... but...
Don’t let anyone know about where these stories really come from... don’t let anyone know about what the inbetween is... and don’t let any harm come upon your library...
Til next time, enjoy yourself. I hope to see you back here soon.”
After this he was sent back to the present to his library where he wrote a short summary on what happened at the masquerade.
After that, he wrote in his diary:
“Diary #2
The inbetween.
A place I don’t quite understand.
I feel like I’ve been there before, but I can’t put my finger on it.
I can’t keep losing my memory. And it seems like every time I go to the inbetween it happens, but I can’t just stop going.
But... maybe there’s more to that place that I’m just unaware of... I have to keep looking deeper and deeper into the inbetween so I can find my way to ensure that I don’t lose everyone that’s so close to me.
I need to move this library. It needs to be preserved. I will find every way possible to ensure that no matter what, I can do my part to bring happiness to these lands.
One preserved story at a time.

Sorry, I feel like these are just super important parts of Karl’s story arc and I really don’t want you to miss out!
I suggest you watch the whole live stream of the masquerade tales of the smp in your spare time.. this cut out a lot of the plot and also about the inbetween

Christmas is _the_ big holiday of the year, everyone is trying to sell/shill everything, whereas all these other holidays are either highly localised (e.g. as a Brit, I've never even _heard_ of presidents day), or highly specialised.
Try selling anything other than chocolate, gin and maybe holidays for valentines day, or chocolate for easter.
The only reason Techno made it through Janurary is because he has a cobal of millionaires funding his lifestyle lol. To quote techno from his "A new journey" stream: "You know how youtubers make like zero ad revenue in janurary? I'm about to make 10 million dollars watch. karl will normally specify whether the characters are OCs, descendants, or ancestors and roughly where in the timeline each tales takes place. in this case it was purposely a bit muddled but for the most part, they’re OCs
Wow I think right now is Karls arc for this whole adventure just seems so amazing and that the tales of the smp and the egg are basically both the main focuses and they use seem amazing like wow also the build at the end

For further context, the Tales From the SMP series follows the adventures of Karl while he time travels to different points in the past or future. The characters are original creations who are played by the SMP members and are descendants or ancestors of the current SMP members, though they're not always necessarily related to the one who played them

You should totally watch the rest of tales of the smp! Karl is indeed a time traveller, and each story gives you little pieces of lore, except for the first one, but its still really great.

The village that went mad - Its like a game of mafia, and the characters are really cool
The beach episode - Present day characters doing a fun little challenge with some history mixed in :]
The lost city of mizu - In the future, or a separate timeline, very interesting and stirs up a lot of questions / theories
The Wild West - What can I say? its the wild west. Not too much lore but the characters and story is still great.
The ones you definitely need to hit are The lost city of Mizu and The village that went mad, but they're all great and had so much time put into them.
A shame you didn't get to see Sapnap's introduction and the game of duck-duck-goose

Tales from the smp is canon to the story but normally happens in the future or past, and karl is a time traveler, that could explain how wilbur didnt find the button when he was going to explode it for the first time

All the tales episodes are this good- but I would recommend watching the full vods- they’re a couple hours but it’s better to get the full story. Also be sure to watch them in order there are sometimes references to previous episodes.
The tales of the smp is a story that ends when the stream ends. It takes place in the future or past only one is in the future rn.
Definitely go check out the full introductions, they're hilarious. Sapnap's is really funny

Karl is apparently a secret time traveler and he’s traveling to the past and future to prevent some things from happening.
The editor (of the video aka DSMP Live) cut a lot of funny moments of the original. I 100% recommend the original stream it was so funny
A nice theory that people have is that, for the first time Wilbur wanted to blow up L'Manberg, Karl time traveled and destroyed the button connected up the TNT bellow L'Manber, because when Wil tries to press it, the button was destroyed and Karl tweeted that I was him but we all thought it was a joke

all tales from the smp eisodes are set either in the future or the past of the dream smp! this specifically is from the past as every other is besides "the lost city of mizu" which is set in the far future :)
fun fact: the most recent one, "the wild west" is set around the same time as this one and has references to other tales episodes.
Im a little peeved that the person editing cut out so much good stuff, and the story in the Inbetween... I don't know if you've already been told/found this out, but the book Karl reads at the tree essentially tells him that the Inbetween is the key to Karl being able to control his abilities and how they affect him. The more he travels through time, he's begun to lose his memory and his sense of self. According to the book at the tree, if he explores the Inbetween and learns more about his powers, he'll be able to stop that from happening.
Ah yes, the best crime story montages are the ones that spoil the ending with the teaser at the very beginning
