    ...and that's the language of the spoken drum. What a pure conversation of groove... I love it!! Thnx for posting iching64.

    This is beautiful. I once saw a drummer at Jimmy's Woodlawn Tap in Chicago. He put an empty cardboard beer case upside down on a bar stool. He pulled out some brushes that were tucked in his back pocket. And then proceeded to play a very hip brush accompaniment to the blues band that was playing on stage.

    It is great to hear the groove played by two drummers since it is easier to hear what is going on.

    it refers to the crowd behind the drummers- not the drummers- they are the band - which is part of the first line.
    the Secondline is the crowd who are following the social aid and pleasure or funeral or whatever the occasion is.

      I know this comment is 10 years old lmao but that's not right.
      It's from funeral marches. The first line would be the funeral procession and the second line was the drummers

    @gavinksong always either a screwdriver or a hat band in N.O. Hardly ever see a drumstick playing the cymbal on the bass drum.

    What are the straps you are using for the snare, Are they for bass drum?

    • @Yusufmaghreb
      @Yusufmaghreb Рік тому

      Those straps are high stepper straps which are pretty unique to New Orleans but yes they are very similar to some bass straps
      Would look up some videos on st Aug marching 100 band to see how those straps are used for high step marching
