NOTES:
1. No need to record whole take of doubles, only punches
2. Record at -25 LUFS
VOCAL CHAIN:
1. Remove mud/harshness (150, 250, 2k)
2. Multiband comp (250-1k, 6dB GR)
3. Compress CLA 2A
4. Compress RVox
5. Manny EQ 12.5k
6. De-esser
7. Paralel Split
Paralel plate RVerb (1s, 83 size, bell EQ)
Paralel fast delay (Manny, 1/16 slap, bell EQ + Verb + Phaser)
8. L1 maximizer
BEAT:
Carve out space with sidechain with a dynamic EQ or Trackspacer
MASTER:
Limiter
Tried this. 🔥 recommend.
What bell eq?
Whats better trackspacer or dynamic eq too carve the beats ?
-25 short term or integrated or true peak
Hey brother how are you I just started going back on your videos nice work by the way... got a quick question for you... is it OK to buss both lead vocals, doubles and stabs all together ... because I hear you have to process the doubles differently from the leads ??? Please help thanks ❤
Ahh, Thanks Sean! Applied this step by step and finally i'm on the route to the vocal chain I need! Turns out I've been applying too much processing and pushing things too hard. I loved how much more subtle your moves were but had MUCH bigger impact on making the vocal sound full. Niceone!
One of, if not the best music tutorial channel on YT. I've learned a lot from Sean over the years, but half the time I just throw his videos up because the man speaks well and is relaxing to listen to on top of being very informational. Kudos as well for having a great balance of articulating and showing what you're doing without it getting boring like a lot of channels suffer from, while at the same time not being over the top flamboyant and fake like a LOT of YT channels as well. Great work Sean. I've watched just about all your videos several times and will continue to do so.
Appreciate the kind words, Common! 🙏
@@SeanDivine hey wassup I just subscribed to your channel very informative I just got bought a apple labtop with pro tools on it but I have no idea how to get it up and running if it's a way we can communicate directly to see if you can help me I would be extremely grateful. I've been reaching out to different on UA-cam but I haven't gotten a response yet
Damn…we have the same profile pic lol…somewhat anyway haha
@@BR_READDY225 Captain Spaulding for the win and RIP SID!
Thank you for helping the community fam. Keep making it simple please so i can replicate it. Im not an engineer. I want something easy that I can understand.
This is a unique approach to getting a clean sounding track fast. Ive never seen anyone route a vocal stack to a send and process the group as one unit like this. I also liked the sidechain EQ on the 2-track... Money, I dont know why I never thought of that! Great video! As someone who records with less than adequate hardware and in a less than Ideal space I can definitely make use of these tips. Keep grinding and Stay Blessed!
why would you not. All done on the same recording on the same mic, pre, and if vocal produced probably should be dynamically similar.....
Hands down the most complete Mixing & Recording tutorial I’ve seen on UA-cam 🙌🏼
Glad it helped Yailex!
Again, it's a blessing for all of us who pick up the Vocal Chain SR. Thank you for the update/bonus! I love the Rode NT1 preset!🔥🔥🔥
😁🙌
Great video! Never miss a Sean Divine video!
Nice video man. I love the simplicity . Def great for people looking to learn. Been doing music for 11 years and you did the same exact as I would 🙏💯💯
A REQUEST Sean! Please can you make a tutorial how to basic make a Track and mix it to a 2 track before dubbing the vocals. would really appreciate that, like this trutorial above
Thank you for this video I’m so glad u showed me how to make my sm7b sound 10 times better I love this mic it’s top notch especially if you are recording in a untreated room salute to you
🙌
Best tutorial I seen so far step by step thanks for sharing this video with us you definitely got a new member can’t wait to see more
Welcome aboard and glad to help 🙌
@@SeanDivine I appreciate it iam take want you show me try to do better on my sounds with my music I’m on Apple Music and Spotify and so now trying to make good music so be can listen to and choose to follow to hear a lot of it. The name to look up for it is Daren Raymond you can hear it yourself to see what I need to improve more love to hear your inputs.
So thank you 🙏🏼!! Have been watching your stuff every day now my vocal so much better 😊😊
Can’t wait till this drops
If your studio dont give a good acoustic isolation uses Poltergate for Denise Audio to remove noises, thats good!!!
Thank God for your life brother! Blessings from London ✝
You are one of the finest audio engineers i have ever seen in my life time 🍁 my heartfelt gratitude man ♥️🍁
Appreciate that Saikat! Glad to help 🙏
Great Video. Not sure if you've discussed this already, but it would be good to see a in depth video about working with the newer M1 Pro/Max laptops, the ups and downs specs etc.
Coming soon!
Bro, thank you for these tutorial types of videos. I have gotten a lot better with mixing and just setting up a vocal chain with your helpful videos. Keep being successful brotha.....Bless
Most welcome! Great to hear it's helping 🙏
The master is back at work! 🙌🔥🔥 Love it man. Quick question, would it have been a wrong choice to boost some 2k back in after taming it with your subtractive eq on the ssl?
No rules, whatever sounds best 👍 I’d reach for a dynamic EQ or multiband comp in that case to add it back with more control!
You rapping now... cool! 🔥
Thanks for this Vocal Chains SR update man! I have the same one (sm7b) and you definitely lifted the blanket on that mic 👌🏻
Sure thing Liam, glad it helped! 🙌
Thank you Sean, I'm a new guy in this job, your video just open my mind, I will keep watching your other videos, thanks a lot.
Man how can you just hear your vocals and know exactly what frequencies to cut like 90 percent of my mixes are spent trying to find what is making the vocal muddy box sibilant and you made it look so easy that ssl ev2 is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 you should try that blackbird n 105 modeled after the neve 31105 sonically it’s really good… btw great video and my mixes have gotten drastically better because of your content
Been at this a long time :) Stay at it and it will start to come to you naturally! 🙌
Man!! This is the second time have watched this video. It does not get old. Thank you, so much!! Musical naughtiness personified!! Thank you, so much, for sharing.
Most welcome, glad to help
Subtle additions at every step and final result is a blast compared to raw recording. Love your tutorials man
Appreciate that 🙌
Bruh, thank you so much!!! I have been bumping your jams since the mid aughts. Glad to see you doing your thing!!! This is a game changer for me.
Appreciate that man and glad to help 🙏
You always make dope videos and awesome products 🔥♥️✊🏾
Studio rack is underrated and its free from waves. You can use it to make sure all your sub frequencies are in mono by creating a multichain.
Can't Wait 🔥
Man, thank you thank you thank you. I appreciate you and all the work you put into your videos!🙏🏿
Said it once I’ll say it again. Your the man Sean. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪
Much love to you and the beautiful country of Ireland! 🙏
Thanks Sean, you’re always putting out amazing content
Thank's for your video Sean! I'm an Haitian, i see you broh, keep going!!!
Looking forward to updating 🔥🔥🔥
MAN I TRULY APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO.. IVE BEEN CONFUSED WITH HOW TO DO ANYTHING ON LOGIC AND HOW TO GET CLEAN VOCALS WHILE RECORDING LIVE..
Love this track. 👍🏻 There’s so much value in this tutorial - thank you!!
Thank you TJ, glad to hear it helped!! 🙏
Ay bro u SNAPPED on that verse! ⚡🎙
I forgot I came here for a vocal chain LOL
🙏

💯
Love this video! I really need to get f6, very versatile. I've been using the stock pro tools compressor with the filters set so its individual bands like a multi band, just had to use 2 maybe 3 of them set to different bands (on a 2 track to make room for vocals). F6 would be way easier lol
Not even kidding, I was scared of you knocking the can over 😂 I appreciate this video helped a ton
No way Sean Devine I have some of your beats from over ten years ago still stored on my computers with great song ideas to. Great producer.
🙌🙏
nice tutorial. I like your thought process when you broke down how to use the studio rack vocal chain you made
Creo que este es el mejor video de Sean 🙌🙌🙌💯🔥
U a beast bro! Keep up the good work 💪🏾 I like to record with the chain then make some adjustments but this method might be better..
Ayy much love bro I love what your doing and what you have made
fav person on youtube to learn from bout this music shit. thanks bruh dope vid
Thanks for sharing Sean. Keep it up. I've been learning from you for a long time.
Stay safe.
You too C, glad to hear it 🙌
most thorough yet concise mixing vid ive seen. thanks bro.
🙌🙏
Even though I've come a long way in my learning, this video has provided some enlightenment on what I'm not doing. I'm not adding enough compression on my vocals to get that full-on commerical sound. I'll keep referencing his video.
You deserve donations for all this free knowledge you're giving us Sean. Thank you!
edit: random question: what mic would you recommend for R&B recording (female)?
Rode K2 detail is great for female vocals. If you have a very dynamic performer, the sm7b and a little bit of compression goes a long way!
beautiful. loved watching this. Thanks Sean 🔥
damn didnt even know about studiorack. crazy how u can add aux inputs on it too
You're amazing bro!
🙏
Grateful Dear Sean, you are just so gifted and you humbly share your knowledge and experience, always so grateful, learnt so much from you, bought your vocal n mastering chains, plz send a link how to use it....

@@SeanDivine Thanks so much waiting for the next tutorial, bless you

damn man this what exactly i needed someone to show me the ropes i am trying to record and mix my own songs bymyself and its been really rough, i always put my gain stage to high trying to get that commercial sound, and i been destroying my recordings, having high noise in the processes of getting the commercial sound as you explained, you sir deserve a very big thank you
Thanks Sean, great content as always!
This is just what I need right now
THE BEST!
Man!! I didn't know you were NAUGHTY like that! "I'm counting down the time just to speed through the stop sign"! I had to stop at the 6:44 point in the video to write this comment! Because you present yourself as one having a quiet demeanor, the power of the message was surprisingly forthcoming . That being established, it doesn't mean that you don't have a tranquil demeanor... obviously, I broke one of the rules I apply to myself.."Don't let the smooth taste fool you". At any rate, it's time for me to get back to the video. As always..thank you, so much for sharing!💪🏿
One of the favorite videos
Super Master ❤️

That was amazing to watch! Well done! But is there a way to show this process if one doesn’t have the plugins and maybe less of an experience with mixing? It was still pretty advanced.. Do you have like a noob guide or smth?^^Thanks! Much appreciated and great content!
