I had a similar thing with the Maschine Mikro. When you are relying on a PC/laptop anyway, there's no point upgrading to a Maschine+ for example. And the Mikro has less quirks at a way more affordable price point anyway. I did get the MPC One though. The MPC One may not be portable, but being stand alone is good enough for me. Hi, I've sold my MPC Studio because I would like to upgrade to MPC Touch or MPC Live mk1. I'm really thinking about the MPC Live because I can just do music wherever I want with the battery and 1tb SSD expansion. What is not really clear for me is: Can I open the MPC software and MPC Live at the same time and as I save the project it will be saved in my MPC Live internal HD? My computer screen would act just as a 27" screen for the MPC? In my setup I would like to use the Mac IAC driver to send 2 midi out x 16 midi channels and receive midi on Ableton Live where I would have 32 channels of VSTs (Live will be my Rompler and MPC my sequencer) and route audio from Live output to MPC input, so I can have the best of all the worlds.
for me this is was the most interesting video on the channel so far. but there is one sentence i totally disagree with: that there are no disadvantages of using mpc soft. i know a huge one: having to turn my computer on, go into controller mode (cables..) and sit behind the desk.
That's why God created laptops my friend! 🤣 You're right though, if you've grown tired of it, it can be a disadvantage. I am really enjoying the balance of being away, and coming back to add finishing touches. Keeps everything fresh!
I agree, I bought MPC One purely because it meant I could get away from the computer. There’s no doubt there are limitations compared to a fully fledged DAW, but that is exactly the point. The limitations can force you to think differently and move in a different creative direction.
The funny thing to me is when someone says they want standalone so they don't have to sit at a desk and then sit the MPC on a desk 😂😂😂 I like standalone but I think it is really overrated...
Excellent and I agree. I got into modern MPCs for stand alone, sure, but eventually I had to admit to myself that I don't mind hybrid setups, and I absolutely *love* my DAW (Bitwig). I'm almost always at a computer, and in fact, my MPC is right next to my computer anyway. So using the software in controller mode was not a stretch at all, and it works very well using the plugin in Bitwig. Not much really changes for me using my MPC stand alone or as a controller for the software. Other than if I turn to the left, I have a 35" ultrawide monitor to work with, too lol.
My only 2 gripes with the MPC software is 1. There's only the 4 sends. 2. Each mixer track only has 4 inserts. But that is literally my only 2 complaints. I haven't touched any other DAW for years.
@iamsight Im going to buy Me a mpcone My question is Once you installed the Software can you Open the Projects ( the Produced Beat ) in the akai Software? You Show IT Like this Here in the Video I Wonder If itspossible cause in anotgher Video i saw the Software is Limited on the amount of Tracks you can use So Lets say you Produced 12 Tracks on the MPC one in Standalone , the are They Not showing Up in the Beats Software?? Cause eben i Look at the Mixer in your Video IT IS showing Mode than Just eight Channels Its a Bit confusing cause the Informations for that is Not precise or Lets say different 6month ago IT was Not possible to Use the software on the mpcone Now it is So i try to know About the limitations I will surely buy this incredible machine Even if its just 8Tracks I saw a few videos About the software and its realy realy good Can i use the Software on Windows7?
MPC Beats is a limited version of the software that comes with the One. The full version will have unlimited audio tracks and 128 midi tracks and it is for Windows and Mac. You get 2 licenses with it as well.
Already own a 60mk2 and a 5000. I like 960ppqn and quantise strength on the 5000. Non destructive would be better. Just bought the MPC studio mk2 because my 5000 has an issue that needs to be fixed. And for the price I can test out a computer based MPCish tool. I was ADAT light piping the 5000 through a MOTU 24I/O to mix digitally. The MPC studio Mk2 has the sound already in the box. I am hoping I can output individual drums when using the MPC studio Ml2 as a plug in into the MOTU Digital Performer mixer and send each drum out my audio I/O into an analogue mixer for mixing. This thing is very portable. If I can have a MIDI keyboard triggering a virtual instrument with MOTU DP at the same time as using the MPC studio Mk2 then I see a live jamming scenario becoming possible. Build up some patterns and use the next seq feature to live switch patterns along with musicians jamming. Can the MPC studio Mk2 output individual drums to separate mixer channels within a DAW? After I read the whole manual and master this thing, I am guessing it may become my primary tool for drum production. Or I may use the 5000.
Thanks for getting back to me today so quickly with my question about VST locations. Turns out the vst I was trying to use is a vst3 and that don't jive. But I was able to find a video with a comment in it that said this info. But thank you my dude. :)
finally got a Macbook, my old mac mini wasn't doing it for me. but yooooo, this software has defintely added something im used to when mixing and mastering. doing on the standalone Live 2 just aint the same lol.
Do you know why my data wheel scrolls by 2 instead of by one? Its so annoying and I cant find what is causing this. I have the mpc X and It was fine untill this past update, apprciacte you and the content.
I bought the MCP One about two weeks ago and am catching on to the ends and out of it already fast. And as I'm learning it I see the less flexibility it has compared to using the software. I use FL studio so my workflow is way faster in software. I also see how long it takes to do things in the MCP compared to software and to me that's not good for me. The software has more capability and flexibility with the MPC in controller mode. So I'm using the MPC in controller mode it's better for me that way. I'm thinking Akai realizes the MPCs need to catch up with the digital world too. I was caught up in the hype of an MPC. So now I'm not really that impressed with it. But I'm still going to use it anyway. Just So I can have and add on to my beat-making as a controller just to use some form of hardware.
You might be surprised how much fun you have if you ever take a week and use it by itself on vacation or something. I use controller mode 90% of the time, but I really enjoy standalone too for how creative it makes me get with less options. It still has a LOT of options, but it’s incredible how creative it can be when you learn how to really flip the effects.
The Software allows higher sample rates so you can get a more detailed sound of you're into that. That what I use, the 24/48khz settings in the software. They both hit though, lol
Dope video bro as usual very informative. My only thing is I feel like the standalone option seems pretty limited. I tend to make beats on the go alot.
It is limited in some ways, but there are a lot of ways to get the sound you're looking for between keygroups and other sample methods. The included synths are cool as well but they need more tools to modify them.
I know you mention it but Warp isn't anywhere near the same as manual time wrap using "process" in standalone. Why not compare those 2 instead of comparing warp?
coming from fl studio to this software this shit is very complicated or am just dumb I've had it for over a year still stuck looking up videos and sometimes even being depressed because I wanna learn it
How to connect libraries in MPC Beats? I watched your tutorial videos and googled this question, but didn't find the answer. I use BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover and other libraries. I figured out how to connect them to Reaper, but did not understand how to connect MPC Beats. MPC Beats looks like a DAW with a number of benefits for beginner composers, such as composing chords at the touch of a button. However, if it's not possible to include libraries into it, that makes it unusable for my needs. I write music for my films.
Hi-thanks so much for the vid: it was really affirming and helpful. I wanted to ask you how specifically you're duplicating inserts in MPC 2.10? Whenever I drag an insert from one slot to another, it doesn't take the insert to another slot, it DUPLICATES it-leaving the original in the original slot and making a copy of itself in the next slot. Would you have any idea of what's happening with 2.10 on my side? Is there some setting that I've mistakenly chosen that's having it do that?
What’s happening is Akai is not very good at making software lol. I’m having the same problem and it’s super annoying. They broke it in 2.92 I believe and it is still not fixed. Very, very frustrating
@@labandlegacy yeah-they are definitely a mixed bag with software. Really, really good and not-so-much, all in the same breathe. Oh well: I guess I’ll alert them to it using the Report Bugs button. Maybe if you do the same (if you haven’t already) we can create some Critical Mass. On the plus side: my One arrived two days ago (bought for $570, in really good condition) and I’m loving it, AND I sold my Touch on Reverb-for my asking price. Now all I gotta do is successfully sell my MPK25, and the One will be nearly paid for. I’m feeling good. Love your vids, info and attitude-don’t ever stop.
You were doing good until you started talking about mousing around like it's an advantage. You are correct about the software being more powerful but you need to learn how to use the software while using the hardware to control things not mouse around. Not talking about tapping around on the touchscreen but using the Q-links and such.
MPC Beats is free which is the same as the full software, just a limitation on how many tracks you can use. You actually don't even need a MPK. I made a video called the Free 99 Workflow where I show you how to use MPC Beats with just a Qwerty Keyboard.

Hey Sight! I am stuck on "Looking For Computer" screen. On the Akai site there is no driver, for Controller Mode. I'm on Win7 (HATE Win10, no plans on upgrading)... I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.... this seems to be a huge common problem with a lot of people. Can you shed some light on what I might be missing? The SD card inside my One is being detected by Windows, so I know the USB cable is fine. But beyond that, can't get it to lock into the MPC software (Beats or regular). Thx man!
Make sure your software and the hardware have the same version (2.10.1) and that you are connected directly to the PC USB port. Hubs will typically cause issues.
Hey, I have the MPC live 2 software along with a live 2. Is it possible to have the DAW talk directly to my physical MPC? I really just wanna edit the key roll (and deep dive stuff) on my Mac and then have the physical MPC play it all back as the rhythmic centerpiece of my setup
I think what I’m trying to say is “can I edit my physical NPC in real time with the Mac program”? I think sampling and looping is much more fun with the physical product but entering notes on the key roll is simply easier on a laptop… Does that make sense? Sorry for my personal English!
I feel u, but for those who aren't ready to leave the MPC ecosystem or workflow, the included software is super useful. I used the Software exclusively for 2 years and made a lot of fully-developed beats. Theres still something about using a spacebar for a transport that chaps my @$$ 🤣🤣🤣
hey man I was using my MPC in controller mode, while in controller mode connected to my PC I changed the name of file folder containing a few projects. After re-naming it the folder disappeared along with the projects. Is there any way I can locate the mentioned folder and projects? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
That's wild bro. 2.8 does have a lot of bugs. I think 2.72 was the most solid in a long time. I would have switched to that if so didn't have so many beats I'm 2.8 already.
Hey bro I got a question, how can I use third party drum kits since I can’t use the expansions I. Controller mode instead of using the same ol drum kits tht comes wit the MPC? I like using it in controller mode as for using my plugins and vsts from Fl studio to make progressions , melodys, etc but can’t use the 3rd part expansions tht I brought for my mpc. Can u give me some feed back
Do you export your audio or drag and drop audio to DAW? I tried out the export explode and it was instant in Logic and it sounds good.. The software is overwhelming at the moment.. I only had the X since last week. I've learned a lot. I think I like the standalone way of working because it's not glitchy.. When i'm on the software, I feel there's sometimes lagging but doable. It's nice I'm able to open up Serato there.
I use both. Depends on if I feel like organizing things ot not. If I'm just composing on the fly or need to add a quick part I will drag. It's good to have options though so if standalone is more reliable for you, I would stick with it 💯💯💯
Good Morning Sight. In your opinion is MPC BEATS SOFTWARE enough when it comes to a DAW? Did you get the MPC BEATS 2 upgrade for $200? I am lookimg for the right DAW. I just got the AKAI FORCE. In the future I will be looking at laying vocals and recording bands. Injust want a DAW I can do everything in for a one time purchase. Thanks Sight
What’s good bro! MPC Beats/MPC Software is not a good DAW at all man. Like it’s good for composing beats and learning the MPC basics if you plan to get one of the hardware units, but for vocals and mixing I would recommend using something like Reaper, Studio One or Ableton. I use Reaper and it’s great because it has an unlimited trial period, and you can buy a license for only $60. It gets updated every few weeks for bugs and new features so it’s always got the latest capabilities most times before the bigger DAWs do, and the owner is an independent millionaire so he doesn’t try to nickel and dime people for new features. For a hardware user like the Force, you’ll love it. I’ve been using it since 2008 with a MPC 2000xl.
I had the mpc 60 in 1989. Mastered it and had a few mods too. I traded it to a friend and he still has it. I never had another one. I've been depressed about the decision this whole time. I'm thinking about a X. What say you?
The X is gonna be light years ahead as far as modern capabilities, but the sound character isn’t nearly as distinct. The thing I like most about the modern MPCs is you can use them the same way as the old ones, such as chop samples, manually and even destructively… or you can utilize the new non-destructive, faster methods. How “fast” you want to do everything is completely up to you. Ergonomically, I think the X is the best thing smoking, but man… I’ve never had so much fun as the Live 2, being able to create anywhere, anytime while still being super capable in the studio.
I think it's important to note that in the video it looks like you're demonstrating all of this on the MPC Touch is the latest version of MPC software supported on the Touch?
Your vid is why I have an MPC touch instead of an MPC X. The X would be a glorified controller. Using the software instead of standalone, I midi out to Ableton on the IAC busses, and I can have better vst instruments implementation than akai will ever have. I can midi out to my HW synth too. No need for stand alone MPC or using MPC plugin in a DAW.
What i want to know is why you use the touch in controller mode instead of the live. Is it just for size and space? Cant the live do everything the touch can do?
Yes, except share the screen for UA-cam videos. Only the Touch can do that. But even if it didn't I would prefer to keep the Live free to roam and not have to disconnect/connect it all the time.
I know this video is old and I swear I looked through the comments first. How are you sharing the MPC's screen? I am trying to stream myself on the MPC One but I don't know how to to share the touchscreen's monitor. Thanks
I am more of a hardware kinda guy, but i plan to use both. If i get bored using it standalone, il boot up the software just to switch it up for a while

Wow you are too lazy to connect a cable?
I agree, I bought MPC One purely because it meant I could get away from the computer. There’s no doubt there are limitations compared to a fully fledged DAW, but that is exactly the point. The limitations can force you to think differently and move in a different creative direction.
@@peterjessop1878 facts. Pc or laptops take the fun out and kills creativity
The funny thing to me is when someone says they want standalone so they don't have to sit at a desk and then sit the MPC on a desk 😂😂😂 I like standalone but I think it is really overrated...
That sample flip sound hard you cant even hear that its the same sample
Excellent and I agree. I got into modern MPCs for stand alone, sure, but eventually I had to admit to myself that I don't mind hybrid setups, and I absolutely *love* my DAW (Bitwig). I'm almost always at a computer, and in fact, my MPC is right next to my computer anyway. So using the software in controller mode was not a stretch at all, and it works very well using the plugin in Bitwig. Not much really changes for me using my MPC stand alone or as a controller for the software. Other than if I turn to the left, I have a 35" ultrawide monitor to work with, too lol.
Can't front on the monitors! They make a big difference. I think creatively standalone is amazing, but as far as polish... modern plugins are amazing.
I have Bitwig as well but have been struggling to get mpc 2.0 to work with my m1 Mac and mpc touch. Do you use your mpc to control Bitwig?
You are a beast. Thanks for all the help. 3 days in with my live 2. My life is better with your videos
🙌🙌🙌 That's what I like to hear!
My only 2 gripes with the MPC software is
1. There's only the 4 sends.
2. Each mixer track only has 4 inserts.
But that is literally my only 2 complaints. I haven't touched any other DAW for years.
@iamsight
Im going to buy Me a mpcone
My question is
Once you installed the Software can you Open the Projects ( the Produced Beat ) in the akai Software?
You Show IT Like this Here in the Video
I Wonder If itspossible cause in anotgher Video i saw the Software is Limited on the amount of Tracks you can use
So Lets say you Produced 12 Tracks on the MPC one in Standalone , the are They Not showing Up in the Beats Software??
Cause eben i Look at the Mixer in your Video IT IS showing Mode than Just eight Channels
Its a Bit confusing cause the Informations for that is Not precise or Lets say different
6month ago IT was Not possible to Use the software on the mpcone
Now it is
So i try to know About the limitations
I will surely buy this incredible machine
Even if its just 8Tracks
I saw a few videos About the software and its realy realy good
Can i use the Software on Windows7?
MPC Beats is a limited version of the software that comes with the One. The full version will have unlimited audio tracks and 128 midi tracks and it is for Windows and Mac. You get 2 licenses with it as well.
@@labandlegacy wow cool .so Then i will have a full Version with the MPC one . Great Videos and thx for your Support
Have you figured this out? I can tell you how, but don't want to type a book of paragraphs if you're already good on it.
Thanks for getting back to me today so quickly with my question about VST locations.
Turns out the vst I was trying to use is a vst3 and that don't jive. But I was able to find a video with a comment in it that said this info.
But thank you my dude. :)
Oh yeah… the VST3 incompatibility is annoying. I use Bluecat Patchwork in order to use VST3s with MPC
finally got a Macbook, my old mac mini wasn't doing it for me. but yooooo, this software has defintely added something im used to when mixing and mastering. doing on the standalone Live 2 just aint the same lol.
Do you know why my data wheel scrolls by 2 instead of by one? Its so annoying and I cant find what is causing this. I have the mpc X and It was fine untill this past update, apprciacte you and the content.
I keep hearing about this. I think it’s a glitch
@@labandlegacy yeah works fine in Standalone. Its a bummer i searched high and low. still nothing.
Is there a sonic difference? I hear people saying the hardware hits harder?
The Software allows higher sample rates so you can get a more detailed sound of you're into that. That what I use, the 24/48khz settings in the software. They both hit though, lol
Woooow!!!! You had me at the time stretch. That time stretch was banging. 🤷🏽♂️
Major difference in quality, lol
I took the next step and route MPC via MPC Software to Ableton ;)
That sounds dope. Might have to try that!
I get judged for using the mpc software inside of fl studio.... Lol but that software is fire
Really quick to chop and program samples. 💯💯💯
In other words… Get a decent small laptop and the mpc studio and you’ll be better of than the actual hardware.
🤣🤣🤣 Y'all be reaching so hard to try to make that thing the future. Stop bro.
@@labandlegacy gotta be economic these days bro haha big up from sweden
You can add STEMS to this now.
Currently it makes the standalones worth as much as a STUDIO 🤣
But only when using STEMS
Almost just be better with a controller and daw if you end up using the software anyway
No.1 reason for me, is EQ .. I'm a fab filter Q3 kinda guy... Not that knob and ears kinda guy lol ... Plus I want to use VSTs
I know you mention it but Warp isn't anywhere near the same as manual time wrap using "process" in standalone. Why not compare those 2 instead of comparing warp?
Great video, much appreciated. I do have a question though, how did you output the screen like that without any HDMI outputs?
Often over looked... what's your thoughts on how the sound of the daw when it sums out?
Right on Brother Very Very helpful Blessings always
coming from fl studio to this software this shit is very complicated or am just dumb I've had it for over a year still stuck looking up videos and sometimes even being depressed because I wanna learn it
Quality everywhere in this vide- thank you,
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Libraries? 🤔🤔
More content on software!
Did they add elasticpro to standalone yet? I mean im all about controller anyway. touch baby
You were doing good until you started talking about mousing around like it's an advantage.
You are correct about the software being more powerful but you need to learn how to use the software while using the hardware to control things not mouse around.
Not talking about tapping around on the touchscreen but using the Q-links and such.
Maybe you should make a video and show me how it's done champ! 🤜💥🤛
ANYONE.. The MPC software is free right, so all I need is an MPK II Mini and that's it? Then I can start attempting to make beats!??
MPC Beats is free which is the same as the full software, just a limitation on how many tracks you can use. You actually don't even need a MPK. I made a video called the Free 99 Workflow where I show you how to use MPC Beats with just a Qwerty Keyboard.
Liked this, just because ur reppin My City ! Philly (Even though the Eagles been disappointing) but nonetheless, another dope video my Guy! Stay Blessed! BEATS BY THE KILO PRODUCTIONS

WHAT!!! EAGLES MY HOME TOWN TEAM. HAD TO SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR CHANNEL.
But you can still use the mpcs in controller mode too.
1:05 I think you can consider portability a major disadvantage to software vs standalone, especially with the live ii
@@labandlegacy no can do. Win10 only for 2.10.1. Cant roll back. Love new synths and other stuff. Thx man!

I think sampling and looping is much more fun with the physical product but entering notes on the key roll is simply easier on a laptop…
Does that make sense?
Sorry for my personal English!
If I need software I hack ableton dude, if I need a portable workstation I use mpclive
My Mac running MPC 2.8.1 is full of bugs. Downgraded to 2.6 and even worse.
That's wild bro. 2.8 does have a lot of bugs. I think 2.72 was the most solid in a long time. I would have switched to that if so didn't have so many beats I'm 2.8 already.
@@labandlegacy I’m actually talking bugs. Every button on the panel you press triggers a midi note. That’s 2.6 Play pause, what ever.
Can u give me some feed back
Quality as always, sir.
@@labandlegacy thanks brother. I had Reaper Studio One on the radar. About to download it now.
Lots of stuff here that I need to know. Subscribed.
Welcome to the channel! 🤜💥🤛
Not being in front of a computer= more focus on the music
Appreciated
This is a f ing goat video.
🙏 I'm glad it helped bro! Thanks for the dope feedback 💯💯💯
I’ve been on my mpc live for a minute and I learned a few new tricks. That’s always exciting
I think it's important to note that in the video it looks like you're demonstrating all of this on the MPC Touch is the latest version of MPC software supported on the Touch?
Yes it is. This is version 2.8.1
lol just noticed the SCHMUCK sign
😂😂😂 Family heirloom lol
Great tips thank you!
Dope video👊🏾 however, I am pro standalone 😂
I really want them to step up the stretch algorithm, if they did that I would be a happy man 🤣💯💯💯
Your vid is why I have an MPC touch instead of an MPC X. The X would be a glorified controller. Using the software instead of standalone, I midi out to Ableton on the IAC busses, and I can have better vst instruments implementation than akai will ever have. I can midi out to my HW synth too.
No need for stand alone MPC or using MPC plugin in a DAW.
Subbed .... Liked.....i like this
What's up, bro? Can you install 3rd party vst's in the mpc software?
Yeah you can use almost any VST through plugin
What i want to know is why you use the touch in controller mode instead of the live. Is it just for size and space? Cant the live do everything the touch can do?
Yes, except share the screen for UA-cam videos. Only the Touch can do that. But even if it didn't I would prefer to keep the Live free to roam and not have to disconnect/connect it all the time.
@@labandlegacy Ok nice one.

Standalone works like crap.
I am more of a hardware kinda guy, but i plan to use both. If i get bored using it standalone, il boot up the software just to switch it up for a while
I barely use the mouse in controller mode. I use it just like Standalone for the most part but just faster mixing with the mouse.
