If the sound issues are just low-pitch sound, it's likely the roms are PAL versions, running with a 25/50fps framerate, which also slows the audio down to make everything sound low.
you make a good point. i haven't tested this out. if that's true, kind of silly they would throw the PAL version of games. maybe they figured no one would notice or care.
@@pojr ...or that most people are in a PAL standard. I know people were happy to play Sonic on the Genesis relaunch, because it played 12.5% slower in PAL, where the new system played at the full 60 (59.94) fps.
I didn't realize they made a bunch of mini arcade versions of 50th. I saw they made an Arcade1Up version as well. I picked up the Atari 50th on Switch. I like that the console versions had Jaguar games on them. Nice breakdown of the different versions!
Another quality video! Thanks! I have to agree these pocket players are nice but they do have emulation issues. I have the handheld pocket player so the D-pad/Circle Pad is a better control IMHO. But yeah the sound is a bit off and actually what I think it is that the games run a tad bit slower then on original hardware. That also affects the pitch of the sound. I can tell that in Asteroids and some others. But for a cheap console on the go it isn't too bad and I do enjoy it. But yeah the GSP has much improved emulation at the proper speed and sound too.
I think of things like this as a fun novelty to have and something to collect. Its like the Zelda or Mario Game and Watch. Neither are the ideal ways to play those game, but they're neat to have.
Not Atari, but I own two Gameboy-like emulation handhelds. Unfortunately they didn’t have a name on the box but one of them says it’s made by green lion on the boot up screen so that’s at least clue, whoever they are. They have the entire Gameboy library and if that’s all you care then this is an excellent way to experience. If, however, you’re interested in their other emulators then it disappoints me to report that even something as simple as Sonic 3 had pretty notorious sound and lag problems. Oh well, at least I’m happy as a Gameboy nut.
I just bought My Arcade Super Street Fighter II - Micro Player Pro Portable, saw it in Aldi at the checkout. Easy to do special moves if you slow down the move, but unable to do them quickly.
Always enjoy your videos! My apologies if this has been covered... you've made a lot of videos about ways to play old school Atari games. Wondering what would be the best way to play a similar collection of Intellivision II games?
8:53 The pocket version (offering better controls) ... About that, after seeing that D-pad I highly doubt it. That being said, the design for the pocket version, save for the aforementioned D-pad, looks really sick.
That’s a shame. I got the Namco Museum MyArcade for Christmas and for the most part, I can’t complain at all. All arcade versions where they should be and if the game wasn’t an arcade, it’s the Megadrive/Genesis ROM.
My Arcade has also made their own plug and plays, and they suck. Most of My Arcade's best plug and plays are from other developers. If you want something from them, don't get one of their own plug and plays and get ones that use games from other developers.
It's cute - but ergonomically speaking it's just horrible and stupid. Give us a flat hand held device with just more games. Also easier to carry. Thank you for the vid!
A new year of great content to come. I'm here for it!
Thank you! It's going to be a fun year
seen those little arcades, not really my thing but I'm glad people are liking them.
great video Pojr!
Thank you so much! Yeah this mini-console isn't for everyone, and there's definitely issues with it.

nice. i really want to try the pocket one. maybe for a future video.
I love mini arcades! I had a pacman one from the 80s when i was a kid 😃
same here, they are really cool devices!
My conclusion would be Atari 50 is the way to go. Much more variety, tons of added extra content and potential for more
atari 50 is definitely more well polished than the other options. plus it's cheaper and you get more games.
Love the mini arcade machines - excellent vid as always 😊
Thank you so much!
Hey man, nice to meet you at new years!
"paramatt". I love it!! It was nice meeting you too!
I think of things like this as a fun novelty to have and something to collect. Its like the Zelda or Mario Game and Watch. Neither are the ideal ways to play those game, but they're neat to have.
that's a good point, and that might have been what my arcade was going for.

To me, portable means I can put it in my pocket.
Kinda hard to put a mini arcade in my pocket lol.
Great video though. Keep up the great work.
Thank you! You do make a good point, because this mini arcade machine definitely doesn't in my pockets. Not sure about the other models though.
Always enjoy your videos! My apologies if this has been covered... you've made a lot of videos about ways to play old school Atari games. Wondering what would be the best way to play a similar collection of Intellivision II games?
Thank you! I wouldn't mind talking about some intellevision collections. In fact, I haven't talked about the intellivision too much on this channel.

It feels illegal being here this early
Lol welcome
thank you
That example video 'The one company that stood up to Nintendo' had 1,470 views over 7 hours and 0 thumbs up? 11.3k subs.

I have that micro arcade machine
Atari 50 on the switch lite should be the best portable option
Ive seen a lot of your videos, ima a subscriber, l like the inro, get on with the video already

I haven't tried too many plug and plays by my arcade. The Gamestation is a nice console though.

agreed. they definitely nailed the looks, but not the actual gameplay. you might like the pocket one better.
@pojr I Love Atari, I love your channel! ❤️
Atari is instintivly a left thumb joystick. Missed opportunity
i wont buy instead i'll make with my trustyworthy RASPBERRY PI 4 wohoo a retro arcade machine i just need some money for it which i am earning
