Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

My introduction to serious car audio systems and TDF were one in the same. Just after FBI came out and I was a teen. And they never stopped putting out solid bass lines that sound great with a proper stereo setup. And now I need hearing aids :-/. But damn I couldn’t stop banging that shit.
My favorite group of all time. Bootleg and shoestring are the most underrated rapper's of all time. One love to all the Flintstones. Flintstone family. Flint Michigan forever.

OMG, I am SO happy to see him still working!!!! I saw him perform when he released his Bootleg: Formerly of the Dayton Family album. Ended up being able to meet him, get a couple shirts signed, and chat a bit. Amazing artist. Bootleg shoulda had the spot just before Em popped off. Can you imagine those collaborations?
It's funny you mentioned BT and didn't even show up for his funeral . The only one that did was Da-lo. But anyways, RIP Benard Terry, a true flint legend
Link to method of watching the documentary? Also, their vocal delivery and control is unmatched. I also like how they kept the taking of breath audio in the mix. As an audio engineer myself, unfortunately never had the pleasure to meet B.T. (Bernard Terry). Would love to pick his brain. Wealth of knowledge and artistry.
Agreed on all fronts, @dozermendoza. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Family Feud is wo overlooked, one of the best rap albums of that era!!!

Memories Of me living in Milwaukee, in 1993'' I loved some Dayton Family at that time. I still remember buying The Dayton Family And Top Authority's 1st album in 93'' at the sametime. And its like they came out of nowhere. I played Dayton Family around my friends who had not heard of them yet, And they would be like who the fuck is that They dope. Yep Dayton Family back in days was Hard as fuck Especially their 1st 2 Albums those are Straight Up Hood Classics And I still got them.😎

FBI WAS THE HARDEST,WHEN I FIRST HEARD DAYTON FAMILY ,I BLEW MY MIND,THEY SAID STUFF THAT OTHERS WEREAFRAID OF
I listened to whats on my mind every day in 93. Loved them.
Man I got turned on you all in 94. Columbia Tennessee it was labeled little Memphis cuz when the GM up in Michigan closed down Saturn in spring Hill hired lot of the Black folk to help them out after getting laid off.. Columbia Tennessee had a race riot sixty-to seventy years. I was raised in low-income housing My babysitter was black she had Tucson's sugar and nae nae. It was a lot of their kinfolk that come down from Michigan and that was when I was introduced to my two life best friends 1 pictures of brother got set up and got assassinated buy another set. Now the one living Anthony got life in the penitentiary the week that his brother got killed on some charges that had nothing to do with that situation or the set that pulled off that event. That was when I was introduced to rap music dressing head-to-toe in Dickies going to the skate ring every Friday and Saturday night along with blunts st. Ides and girls. Eventually moved in with them because they lived a couple houses down for me that was when I learned the consequences of sitting on the plastic covered furniture in the den coming in late waking Mom and Dad up Alfred and Cheryl's and me being right they took me in and my family to this day. I remember the first time I heard what's on my mind I listen to yesterday for Old times sake. Y'all are some great artist and I have very fond memories when I listen to you guys.. I just want to say thank you,it's been a long journey through tears laughter pain and sadness love and understanding ❤
