It amazes me how much they don't realize that that body is killing sales. On a basic level the NPF batteries don't last long, you can either buy their battery grip, which makes the camera taller and even more awkward, or you can put a v-mount on it, in which case you are blocking the screen which controls the camera. Or you can put a batter plate on the top or the sides, in any case the first order of business with this camera is finding a power solution that can see you through a long day of shooting. I won't touch any of the other issues with this body design. Why would you call the camera, a cinema camera and yet build it in a manner where the v-mount and the screen are going to have to share the same space. Do they really think people are shooting with 15-20 NPF batteries in their bag? They think or imagine a world where people want to change batteries that often during a shoot? I would love for them to just explain the thinking behind NPF batteries for a cinema camera, what makes them believe this is the way to go? No why do they insist year after year, version after version of sticking to NPF as the power solution for this camera. I really wished they announced this camera and I jumped for Joy, but as soon as Grant pulled it out, my heart sank.
It amazes me that blackmagic doesn’t release sales numbers and somehow you can claim that it’s killing sales. My man, they sell a shit ton of these for a company of their size. I’m sure there is still an addressable market so they’re doing their thing. Btw, did you gather up all your friends and submit emails about what u want? Probably not.. so if their numbers tell them one thing, wtf should they listen to keyboard warriors like you that make spastic claims about “losing sales?” Lmfao

To name the BM Pocket cameras ‘pocket’ was fairly overambitious -meaning that you’re trying to achieve non-duality by combining two very different designs into one-half assed compromise. But to call this a ‘cinema’ camera is borderline schizophrenic! You can b r i n g it into a cinema, but that design will never b e a cinema camera. Why not build a cinema camera design with less of the space disanvantages this frankensteinian construction has? Very much simpler to integrate internal NDs and a proper battery attachment, with a cinema box design, like the Sony Burano or indeed, the BM Ursa line? The only explanation is perhaps that BM will do exactly that, but at a much higher price point?

Cinema camera ????? The image simply isnt that good and bm need to hear how disappointing this body design is. Get an fx3 or better still an a7siii or better still a s5ii or a fuji. So many other options and this soft bm idea of “cinematic” image is looking so so dated. Check out the venice and how that looks. Things have moved on. The c70 with raw is as soft as you would want and way more cinematic if you really want to use that word endlessly. Soft and saturated just isnt a thing and the rolling shutter atvopen gate is just not acceptable when filming these days. For the price anything from z cam looks better especially in h265 and kinefinity have way better rip of an arri if you want that look or get a Komodo. Red colour science is whatever you want it to be. And if budget is an issue the fuji xh2s has a killer sensor.
The C70 has lots of moiré and aliasing and lacks color information in shadows unless you're shooting RAW. The S5II(x) literally has the same sensor and looks almost identical to the C6K when shooting BRAW, but is lacking an OLPF. The FX3/A7s3 have awful image processing with mushy shadows, dynamic range of the sensor isn't great to begin with, shooting RAW doesn't help. The Z-Cam F6 also uses the same sensor as the S5II(x), FX9 and C6K but has issues with its log gamma and also image processing problems For the price you won't get anything close in image quality, besides the S5II(x) when shooting external BRAW. Still lacking the OLPF but comes with great autofocus and stabilization.
