Caterham are selling very well. There is a larger market for these cars than Caterham can supply. Plus the EV Chesil Speedster sounds like a lot of fun, looks beautiful, and might be close enough to be a practical city car.

Thank you excellent interview and video Trevor. Simeon clearly knows the product and target market very well, is passionate about his cars and sensibly ambitious for the brand. I'm sure he and Westfield-Chesil will do well!

That 11 at 20% larger would be fantastic , they're so small as is.

Ive had 3 new westfields from the factory and currently waiting for a caterham...
I do wish them well, but I personally think they need to change the look of the car, step away from the 7 / caterham as the westfield is just not quite as good looking and will never be a caterham, although the engine improvements they talk about sound very interesting. Im sure the BAC mono cost a fortune to develop? However, without going to that level or price point there must be something they can do if they are willing to invest, otherwise it will stay as an also ran company and car, although I appreciate it has its followers.
The previous administration used westfield as a kind of cash cow for other projects without ever investing in the products which needed improving over the last several years, even small changes could have made a difference. I always remember the indicator relay coming loose and the job to take the dash off to put it back in... how hard would it be to make sure all the components are attached in such a way they can not come lose?? A zip tie, some tape, whatever, but do something so your relays dont come lose over a few bumps... just poor and lacking effort all round.
It also took them several decades to offer stripes and make the cars look good. Toybox sells far more cars than westfield as he makes the cars more attractive than the factory ones, how hard would it have been to take a leaf out of his book? This is not rocket science.... Marketing has never been their strong point and I cant see this changing now as there simply wont be the money put in by the look of it. Having said that, I hope I am wrong....... things need to change!
Ahh I almost forgot, I was promised an EU ready car, with a COC for 2 years... never arrived... Cant see that happening now either, but if it ended up being priced at the same level as Caterhams, about 50k plus tax and registration, ie about 85,000 euros, then its just as well, as it wouldnt sell.
Ariel have the same issue, still no COC for the atom either...... A car in between a BAC and an Atom, something different... go for it!

The FW bodywork is a crisp new take on the car, and overall, substantially different from the Caterham offering? As you say, the market for 7 types is large.

@@dhutch2000 I respectfully disagree...its very similar, and IMO in the bits it differs, like the rear end, it just doesnt look right and i would spend the money and do something new and interesting...... At the end of the day, they failed for a reason and yes maybe we can say the owners, staff etc, but the cars never sold in great numbers and never hold their value very well, compare that to a BAC MONO.... or a caterham..or an Ariel Nomad or Atom..... It can be done, or you can just live in the past ..... we shall see. Good news for them is Caterham have a 2/3 month delay in engine deliveries, so that should help them quite a bit if they get up and running now.

Westfield are doomed, not as top notch as a caterham and not as cheap or build friendly as an MK, so what is Westfields target market

The middle ground? A well sorted car for a fair price?

@@dhutch2000at £33K for a kit and £40K for a finished car, I don’t see that as being middle ground.

I think they sit exactly between MK and Caterham.

Nice grey speedster at the end ,but i built it not Westfield, it was the last car i built for a customer that lost everything
