I don't know if you look at comments any more, but you Sir are my favorite. You take the time to not only show but explain everything so we'll. I have been try to cut wood on angles forever and just found not ever do it right. Do frustrating. You sure lost me on you calculations, lol but you explained what I angles I needed. Thank you so much So.!! Hope your still doing videos and are in good health. God Bless you and thanks for sharing
You are very welcome, dear. I look forward to more videos. I've been adding your videos to my UA-cam channel. :o) God bless you. Have a great year. Stay safe.
I didn't know you were into segmented work. A pleasant surprise. And thanks for showing us all your trade secrets! Can't wait to see where your headed with combining these with a solid/natural piece.
When I first started turning I use to do a lot of segmented turning but time restraints have turned me away from it. working on adding that to a solid ring. coming up soon.Take care
Thank you my friend. I appreciate the nice compliment. It's not that I don't sell it's just that my website isn't setup yet. if you are interested you can email me. alfurtado@verizon.net Take care
This video was fascinating. Loved seeing your process here and how you use your custom sled to automate everything. I'm curious about how, if you were to place that eight-segment ring on top of the star base, you would make sure that they have a common center.
Very useful information, Al. Thanks for explaining it so well. I think, when I can, I'll try a large star platter before I try a stacked segment ring bowl. and then an input into a solid wood bowl.
Hi Al, Very interesting and informative video! I'm a guy who can't even make a bird house come out plum and square!Building with wood has always been my nemesis and you make it look so simple and easy! At one point in my life I worked building machine tools that required measuring in 0.0001" so when I look at a common ruler/tape measure,,the distance between each 1/16" looks like a wide gap! LOL I doubt if I'll ever try a segmented anything but do enjoy watching you do it soooooo well! Thanks for another great video! Tom
First time watching your video. Most interesting. I will be a regular watching from now on. Question: How would you suggest taking your star and round it out as a stand alone piece?
Got a video coming up on a deep star bowl by itself.. It would also work as a platter or as a wall ornament even by going as far as putting the guts of a clock into one.Take care
Hi Al Love your videos!! I was wondering if you had the plans for making your sled? That is awesome!!! Thank you Diane From beautiful British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you very much As far as plans I generally do things on the fly. I have tried to draw it up on Sketch up but I am not having much success at it. I do have a video on it though. Maybe it will help. ua-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=e0EbORmY8Ww
Yeah I have heard the before but I am not making a watch where you need full control. It's a lot of hand cranking at times especially if I have to close the clamp an inch or more LOL
Thank you very much my friend. What did I do that made it look easy? next time I make one I will change the white segments a little. maybe it will be easier and a different look. Take care
Good afternoon Al ! Thank you for your reply on how to make a star ! I have just looked at your video on how to make a star I find your way on using Pi 3.14 I the calculation makes it very easy to cut the segments you need ! Thanks for you information and a very good video on star making ! Have a good week ! victor Anfossi 👍🍷🍷
Nice video Al. Why not just download the 'Segment Calculator' app for your phone? Not my idea by the way my friend, Stephen Ogle recommended it in one of his videos 😎
Why when you can just do the math? have you looked at that segmented calculator? I have for the computer but not the phone.. I saw the same video from My friend Stephen. I like my method just fine.
No problem my friend, your way works really well. When I get better at turning I will definitely be giving it a go, it looks very impressive in the bottom of a bowl or hollow form.
hi al a good video again. not to be cheeky but i would like to send you something to say a thank you for all your help and videos could i have your address please thank you

Great technique, looks really neat. Too bad you don't sell it. I'd would live to have it in my kitchen wall shelf.
Thank you my friend. I appreciate the nice compliment. It's not that I don't sell it's just that my website isn't setup yet. if you are interested you can email me. alfurtado@verizon.net Take care

Great video Al. All the math made my psychologist brain spin a bit.

LOL I find that hard to believe. anyone that can measure in 16ths or less has got a great skill.
You may not believe me but if you saw one of my bird houses you would!!! LOL
Segmented turning is very interesting! Good luck my friend!
Thank you very much for watching and commenting. Segmented turning is fun but it takes too long for my patience LOL Take care
I agree, need a lot of time. I do not like not dare to segmented turning.
Great looking work patiently presented. Thank you RT.
Thank you very much for watching and commenting. Take care
After my comment yesterday I went out and experimented long enough to make two maple stars. Fun Project.
First time watching your video. Most interesting. I will be a regular watching from now on.

Yes, but how would you turn as it is now. A stand alone item.
Thank you Al. I'll keep this one in my play list for future reference.
Thank you very much. If your play list is as long as my want to make. I will be a long time . LOL

Interesting, very pretty design. I enjoyed it . Thank you Al.
Thanks Tommy
Yes, a power driver would be faster, but with hand tightening you have a good feel for how much tightening is just right.
Yeah I have heard the before but I am not making a watch where you need full control. It's a lot of hand cranking at times especially if I have to close the clamp an inch or more LOL
true, true; and I don't much room to talk; its you who does the wonder-work!
Thanks Al I will make one of those stars. Looks easy the way you show it I love your vids. Keep up the good work mate.
Thank you very much my friend. What did I do that made it look easy? next time I make one I will change the white segments a little. maybe it will be easier and a different look. Take care
