What size hook are you using
Thankfully you help me because I don’t have a dad.
Bro salt water rig
What’s the best bait to rig up like that? I’ve tried a bunch but none of them have work that well.
Can a one inch hook work
Caught my wife with that rig
Is it your new pb
I also tend to catch seaweed when fishing
I also caught ur wife with that rig
Yeah but the question is, are you wishing you would have thrown her back now? If only i had known my first one was a trash fish when i caught her... now i just catch and release only.
Gem
A simple 1/16 oz bullet weight and a worm, very slowly bump it across the bottom. To bump it all you need to do is make small twitches towards you with your rod. Very effective , will get you a nice bass , especially if you are just starting off . ( This coming from a person who has only been fishing a few years.) I highly recommend this to all beginners.
Also man you make great videos , I watch your shorts often, they are very well put together I am going to start checking out your channel for longer content
The truth. Ive really only fished with a wide gap and plastic waitless, senkos for the last long time
Try rigging your senko on a straight shank work hook. I found better hook up ratio. BTW I've always used ewg hooks on my Texas rigs but now I go back n fourth
Texas rig has changed my fishing completely
U don’t want to rig ur Ned rig upside down, use a Ned EWG style hook for the action. Unweighted baits work but give a beginner a Ned rig or shakey heady it gets them going right direction for future bottom draggin/hoppin style baits atleast and can be done easily and mostly off spincasters
Reel slow, I was taught to jig them across them bottom to mimic a crawfish or small minnow, if its sandy bottom reel slow while its dragging the bottom to ster up settlement
Hook up a zoom trickworm the same weedless style also with no weight and you'll catch an unreasonable amount of fish. The worms movement when jigged resembles a dying fish and nearly forces a bite on many species
If you line up the hook after you put in the tip and turn it around rite where the hook ends is where you shuld poke thru straight bait every time
When he says barb, he means the tip of the hook. The barb is that little spike close to the bend. Its important to know this when fishing for trout especially since some places make it illegal to use barbed hooks on them.
Them curly tails are so underrated you can catch about anything on em and you get so many bites
I agree. I texas rig 99% of the time, and it CATCHES
I find this way makes it so much harder to get a good hookset.
Hey thanks for giving me this beat I’ve gotten a few fish on it lately thanks a lot it helped me a lot❤❤❤❤❤
Can you make another video about fishing stocked trout but its in the summer time
Depending on the water, most dont make it to summer. If its deep enough, some holdover, but they'll be deep during the day. Nighttime would be your best bet.
Great video thanks 😊
99% of my softbait fishing in mass is done on that rig. Works great with tubes and small jerks while reeling.
I catch a lot of summer croppy on a shatruce ogretail grub Texas rig ..
Do texas rigs work on normal hooks too?
A true "texas rig" includes a bullet weight. Otherwise it's called a weightless rig.
I’ve always wanted to catch a northern pike so you have any tips?
It's easier to just not put the hook all the way through for beginners but I like your vids man keep em coming
The weedless jig technique is the only way in some lakes.
What situation would you use a waitlist Texas rig Over a normal one
What rod do you use?
I do this with Z-man TRDs and smallmouth love it
I don’t get how the fish get caught on hook when there’s so little of the point exposed. It seems as if there’s such a small likelihood of connecting
I’m sorry but if I’m catching bass with Sanko worms I’m going to do the wacky rig
How do you put the weight?
Texas rig baby
I do the same, and you are 100 percent right!
Do we need to put weight. If not then how do we throw far
What is the name of the soft plastic at .20 seconds in the video it has 4 legs and claws who makes that. I had some of those and can’t find them or remember what they were called
I just caught my first bass
Is that a UL ROD??
Coin you do the crayfish Lure
Great beginner video awesome content.
Does anybody know the name of the soft plastic he’s using?
the first was a curly tail and the second one was a googan bandito bug
Thanks
What hooks do you prefer to use for texes rig
I like to fish it with a weight and a sanko and go walk to dog style with it on the bottom
"Weighted is gas 2" what does this mean???
Pretty much the only way I fish love the lizards oh my God and Carly tail worms and Texas ring been doing it for years catch lots of bass! Yeppers you so right
And sure enough
Now go do it in wind with no weight
Where do you buy this? I live in Norway
If you can find it in your local tackle shop, I suggest supporting them. But since you're asking, I presume you're not seeing it, there. 2 solutions: shop online, or look for examples of what you want online, show them to your local tackle shop owner, and ask him if he can order it in for you.
He can only order what he knows exists.
Good luck & tight lines.
@@remcovanvliet3018 Ok, ty brother 🤠👍🏼
A tip to the people from someone who used this rig a lot as a beginner:
I was also told about the "reel in very slowly" action however through personal experience this works best with curly tails, lizards, or anything with the curly bits.
When using stick worms or worms with no curly bits I recommend casting into an area with a lot of cover (weeds, rocks, fallen trees, etc.) then allowing it to sink to the bottom. If you picked the right bait and you dropped it right next a fish there's a good chance they'll strike immediately. Otherwise let it sit on the bottom for just a few seconds. (count to 3 or 5) then give it a sharp twitch, or a good little yank upwards to pop it off the bottom. Reel in the slack carefully and allow it to sink again. If you have the right bait and there are fish about where you cast then you should get a bite every other cast.
Exactly. Gotta pop and let it drop in the pockets and on the retrieve
I’m new to fishing and I really appreciate this
If you’re using flukes, you can work them sorta like a jerk bait. I’ve also learned how to retrieve the bait on top of the water without reeling too fast, but it works best (for me) with lizards.
jep, experienced it similar so far 👍
I was just about to comment the same thing, good call!
I’ve never heard a rig called gas but ima start using it 🤣
Right I thought I was trippin when i heard em say it😂
Get a black lizard with a green tail, put a bullet weight above the hook and hook the lizard in the front.. then toss right next to the shoreline near overhanging bushes
Oh yeah, and don't forget to cover it in gas.
That new slang boys
"gas" means good. like "thats heat" or "thats fire". i picked it up, dont remember where
Awesome, thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it and everything else you put out. God bless!
Thanks dana!

I go weightless 0.0000001% of the time. Try it on a 1/8 or 3/32 swim bait hook. VERY SELDOM do I roll without weight. That small amount of weight will give your bait new life.
@@alexfamie5255 I get so bored so fast with a weightless fluke😆 I know it works but I loose interest too fast
Same here man. You can't go wrong.
Got my PB on a Texas rigged ned rig craw today, 6 pounder!!
Congrats Jack
Nice job!
Weightless or weighted?
Congratulations, Jack! That’s a nice bass!
The Texas Rig did me right tonight, too. I threw jigs, whopper ploppers, frogs, and swim baits for 3 hours without so much as a bite. I finally paddled over to my favorite spot around 11 tonight and covered the area twice with top water. When the whopper plopper and frog failed to produce any action, I finally decided to tie one of these green pumpkin 4” Senkos I grabbed the other day by mistake. I Texas rigged it with a 3/8 bullet weight. Then I tossed it into a 4-6’ wide channel that runs between the milfoil and a rock hillside, back toward the mouth of the creek that feeds the lake.
On the third cast, I got absolutely lit up by what proved to be the hardest hit of the night. I had been distracted by another bass nailing a some unknown prey right next to my kayak and I missed the hook set. I worked that spot three more times with a fresh Senko before casting about fifteen yards further down the channel beneath a small shade tree that sticks out from the rock wall. I knew that in previous years that the day time bass frequented a pocket there and had a feeling I might get lucky.
On the second cast, I got hit on the drop by a 3. He had some spirit and fought like a fish twice his size. Once I had him off the hook, I had to take a minute to admire how beautiful he was. He had a deep forest green color and looked to be in excellent heath. When I released him back into the lake, he showed me he still had a little fight left by soaking me before swimming away. Overall I was very happy with that fish being my first bass since I stored my rods a week before deer season in 2020.
After I got him back in the water, I worked the area near that pocket for about five more minutes missing one more strike before finally hooking into my second fish of the night. This time, I was working a new Senko along the outside edge of that same pocket just outside the milfoil. After my third set of action, a slightly longer spawned out female hit on the pause. After dragging her out of the milfoil I found that she had managed to inhale just the tip and barb on my hook. She was already in less than ideal shape and removing the hook took longer than I would have liked, so I didn’t take the time to get a weight on her. I just wanted to get her back in the water.
I continued down toward the end of the channel where I got drilled on the drop again. This time, my line snapped on the hook set. I hadn’t retied after my last two fish, and it cost me.
I decided to look for a big bite and set up another Texas Rig, this time weightless with a 7” Senko. It was after midnight at this point and I wanted to look for one big bite before heading back to the boat launch. I got three strikes on this set up, but missed all three hooksets. The hook I used was just a bit too small for the longer worm and it cost me.
The Texas Rig is the first bass fishing method my dad taught me and it’s still how I catch 75% of my fish 16 years later.
Ayyyyy🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🔥🔥🔥
Been trying to fish the grass flats with just a normal jig setup and I catch a big clump of grass every time. I feel like this setup will be my new best friend
I need an update, was it?
POV u are from Texas
I tried it plenty when I first heard about it many years ago. Turns out the weeds on our lake make a fool out of most any weedless rig.

I haven't had much luck with bass using live bait - only on certain bodies of water. Caught thousands of bluegill and catfish, though lol
@@hanburgundy4317I always fished at the pier. You just throw any bait on some hooks and drop it in the water and I’ll catch 4-5 mackerels at a time easily. When I went to the lake I spent 6 hours catching absolutely nothing, very humbling experience. Lake fishing is more satisfying to me, a lot of these bass are pretty smart guys.
New sub as of a few minutes ago. I love this channel already. You clearly answer the questions I have and folks act like are a secret. You just made me want to get out in this rain and fish! Heading to check out other videos.
I learned how to Texas Rig about 5 years ago now. Absolute GAME CHANGER. 🎣
I went fishing with friends and crushed it. They were all asking me to set them up with the lures I was using. We had a great day after they all got the hang of it. Straight Fire 🔥
Used a weighted Texas Rigged Black/Blue Senko Earlier and casted to the fountain in my local neighborhood pond. Casted perfectly, hitting just on the outskirts of the water and I felt a "b- b- BAM", I let him tighten my line, and set the hook. Thiught I was snagged for a second, but though, "This is déjà vu, this is a fish." Never saw a bass bigger than 3 pounds jump before. 4 Pounder jumped and it was awesome! On a medium Rod! Pulled drag and faught like h*ll. Dink catcher, but also a giant catcher. Second best.
Texas Rig is my go to for bass fishing. I usually use 7" stick baits. The little lakes around me are super weedy so I like to bury the end of my hook inside the stick bait to make it truly weedless. I've heard people claim it makes it harder to set the hook, but I haven't ever had an issue.
I always bury my hook, weed less and better through trees and stumps.
Carolina rig is just as good & used in addition to soft plastics used as a bottom bait rig fresh & saltwater.Bullet slip sinker on the line. Swivel w/clasp loop knot in the clasp hook on the end. Heavier lb test is usually preferred on the bottom part as a shock leader for bottom fishing. Example 12 lb main line to 30 or 40 lb shock leader. Now your main line will break around 17-18 lbs due to extra stretch of shock leader. Bigger fish swivel no clasp. I've had the clasp bust open many times garfish/catfish.
Great video! I would put the green part on top and the white part of the bait on bottom. Fish are always darker on top.
I looked for this comment before I put mine on here. Exactly my thoughts.
Texas rig and wacky rig are my favourite

@@tfgghbh648 6lb is good bro it's nice.
Your actually meant to keep the tip of the hook inside the rubber, the way your doing it can still snag. Fish have a powerful bike when they strike so biting through the rubber is like us biting into a banana, that's how you rig a weed less, always bury the hook.
It’s not necessary though. A lot of people don’t rig it weedless because of where they are fishing just to get that better hook set
@@mattchartrand7676 the silicon that the lures are made from are soft enough for a fish to bite through very easily. And the whole point of a weed less hook is to keep the tip covered! So YES it is necessary lad. I'm a 45 year old fisherman who fished since he was 11, and NEVER have I ever seen a weed less set up with the hook protruding out the side! A hook protruding out the side defeats the whole idea of it being a weedless set up!
Actually I have competed in the bass master classic tournaments and you talk to any of them there and the prefer to stick the hook out all the way for the hook sets will be better. And yes it is rubber but you miss more fishing if you leave it in the rubber compared to sticking it in and poking it back in a little bit. It also not silicone and it is more like a rubber.
@@lancemosher8159 I don't care if you've competed in the world bass championships, the whole idea of a weedless hook is to hide the tip of the hook from snagging things. And silicon is more durable than rubber, unless your using the cheap shit. Competing isn't winning either, I bet the ones who won had a couple of secrets they never shared with you either. I didn't have to tell you about this either, and my strength I the hobby is rock hopping, which involves fishing very rough grounds.
If there’s weeds bury the hook. If not leave it out. Idk why this is even an argument. Fishing for 45 years you should know this is based on preference. If you don’t mind breaking off every now and then leave it out. If you’re a smooth handed baby that doesn’t like tying then bury it🤣
Remember you can control the fall speed by using a lighter hook or thicker hook if you go weightless
If I do weightless will it slip out of the fishes mouth
This is how i caught my first bass with a senko
I actually will cast let it fall.. then wait about 30 seconds pick up til about surface and then let it fall again.. reeling in the slack as it’s falling.. bass gonna hit on the fall or when it’s actually on the bottom.. I like to put a bullet weight on for crawdads n what not
Weightless Texas senko or fluke is my favorite thing to throw
I am definitely not a beginner to fishing, my pb is a 18 lb king salmon, but i am a beginner to bass fishing and don’t know what setup to use, so i will try this, thanks. I am only 11 though so i have plenty of time to fish in my life, but i had no help at all catching that king
You'll definitely enjoy bass fishing but you will always have better memories of salmon or trout fishing. In my opinion. The scenery is beautiful and more relaxing generally.

@@seanp9157 How? If I loosen the setting knob thing, it tangles up if I try to cast far
@@Cause023 what is your set up, mainly reel brand, line type and lb test?
In general, I’d say it’s 10:1 on ambush predator fish caught on the lure fall vs on the rise, so being patient with lures is key. Weightless takes PATIENCE. If you’re not patient, heavy sled head jig heads are great as they’ll keep pulling the lure down and bumping into things.

My grandpa taught me that technique and u didn’t trust him, now I do :) Love you gramps!❤
All you need to fish is a wacky worm I’ve caught bass, pike, pickerel, crappie, and (unfortunately) rock bass. Best bait ever
I never caught a Pickerel in my life !!!! I did know a lake that I fished that had them ! Instead, I was catching 6-8 pound Small Mouths on a a 1 inch RED Catydid !
Duhhh I shoulda been rigging my crayfish like this, no wonder I lost my lure today. Going to catch a big brown trout tomorrow, found 2 big crayfish in a 15in tummy. 🤙
ALWAYS use wire/bite-proof leader, when there is a pike or musky. Better catch less fish then kill one just cause laziness
Awesome, love the videos. very informational👌👌
Correct me if I’m wrong but Texas rig refers to the way the weight is rigged so a “weightless Texas rig” is not a Texas rig just a weightless wide gap hook and plastic. You wouldn’t call a swivel then a leader a “weightless Carolina rig”.
Umm ageee Texas rig great rod not best example.. long cast maybe pond might want to flip ..pitch..punch..a Ned right on way to big hook
"Reel as slow as you can, then reel even slower"
Best way to explain it to a new fisherman. A rig catches fish on the drop or stall 9.9/10 times. If you catch a fish while reeling with a texas rig, you should get a lottery ticket 😂
Ephesians 5:4 in the Bible: nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving
Anyone starting to pike fish use a spinner bait and you cast it out and just reel it back in
Green pumpkin trench hawg caught my 2nd biggest largemouth at about 8lbs and some change. I like to do a slow steady retrieve mid column too. You can also hop it, any Texas rigged creature bait or jig with a creature bait trailer but I fish jigs the same way, swim jig or not, steady retrieve mid water column and catch the hell out of them
Question, I suffer a lot with rigging weights and I don’t know how to you them. I always to different types of weights (usually split shots) on any bait I use (including hard baits) to get cast distance. Is there a way around this?
Watch often bro, but check the color layout of that pickerel and compare to your worm. Notice anything?
Probably won't matter in more stained waters, but clear water fish be like "look at that little fish doing the backstroke" haha
I use a sonik lite tec 2/8grm with shamino engage 2000reel had good fish on this rig trout and parch pike in Ireland were I live....
