great memories there 75-79 lived in the flats by the camp, voglesang, we could hear the tanks roaring past, my father served there, thank you for posting.
Love the video takes me back to 77 when I served with 1st R.W.F. was nice to show the grandchildren where I was stationed. When they ask, also seen it after the modernised the blocks of today,
Served in the regt with my brother and some of the most professional soldiers the fine country of wales could produce and at the same time some of the maddest to all who knew me I'm Cooper 51 we are getting old and grey but still a sparkle in our eyes when the regt is mentioned and recognised as a good fighting welsh regt cymru am byth
Coops, it’s Will 097 here, who you generously invited to spend Christmas with you in 84. I’ve never touched Southern Comfort since that day!! Hope you get this matey.
End of 82 cos the RWF1st Battalion were there till mid 82. Loved every posting I was there for : Tidworth, Lemgo, Boscombedown, Warminster, Tern Hill & Bally Kinler NI, Mike left cos of my health just before Berlin posting & I was gutted X X X
Have mixed emotions watching this video a great bunch of boys apart from the Regimental Police. I can still hear the screaming voices of monkey and squeak in my ear to this day.
My father in law Fred matter was stationed there with his family and my wife was born during the time he was there , if anyone remembers Fred I’d be grateful if you have any memories of him , he sadly passed away in 1992 .
I spent a week there in '88 with the rugby team of 3RRW. I started and completed my drinking apprenticeship there and I even got the chance to drive a 432 across the square. :-) Fair play the 'Regular' guys were a great bunch but I think they'd had a guts full of the place. The Saturday we got back to Wales was the day of The Corporal Murders and 6 months later R.S.M. Heakin was murdered. :-(
Does anyone know Dennis Mccormick? He was serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers in Lemgo 1965/66. He must be now about 71 years old. May be somebody knows him from Aden.
