- Headed up to Monache Meadows for a little fly fishing and was not disappointed. The road in was tough and in bad shape. My Ram 2500 Crew Cab 4x4 made it without any issues, but the 15 miles in took almost 2 hours. Either way, fishing was phenomenal and we were able to find athe Golden Trout we were looking for.

I hunted deer and fished for Golden Trout in Monache Meadows many years ago. It wasn't any easier to get in there then, either.
Yeah, I kind of prefer it that way. It's way too pretty for easy access. It would be packed with people!
Can't wait to see the Owens. I'm hoping to get up there toward the end of the season, so this will be a nice preview.

This was a 4wt, but a 3wt would have been better. I had a 4wt for the wind, but it never really picked up.
forgot the Paiute cutthroat in a Sierra slam. Nice water! was unfamiliar with that one, reminds me of stretches of the little Truckee. Curious if you fished this creek (Monache) in the evening for bigger fish?
I don't think they get much bigger than what was caught. We took off in the afternoon and went to Bishop. I landed two really nice 18"-20" Rainbows on the Upper Owens. That video should come out next.
