When you think of natural history museums, you might picture exhibits filled with ancient lifeless things, like dinosaurs or meteorites. But behind that educational exterior, there are hidden laboratories where scientific breakthroughs are made. Joshua Drew gives a breakdown of some of the hidden worlds within these museums.

They're not secret, but not just anyone can walk around and poke stuff down there

THAT'S funny cause my 6 year-old brain, trapped in a 50 y/o body, said the same thing!

Hm, another career path I could follow, working in a natural history museum, never thought about that, definitely adding that to my possible career goals.

My own goal is to either teah History, uncover it, care for it, or presente it in the musem, for the history is the greatest of teachers.
    For it is life itself.

If NY wasn't a nightmare to visit like it was last time I went, I'd visit the museum. Granted it would be way cooler if it came alive like in the movies lol.

SonOfAKing I live in NYC and share your opinion. But I think that coming just for the Museum of Natural History is worth the hassle. It's truly an awesome place. I go once a year.

It has just about *everything* that a person curious about the world around them wants to see. If you are just interested in jewelry, for example, they have a collection so awesome that it's worth the price of admission.
Well, the jewels are worth much more than the price of admission but you know what I mean.
