Combinemon you are not eating "stuff", you are killing beings that have sentiments, feel pain, emotions and for sure did not want to die. Just like you, they(most) were carried by their mothers, took their first breath, learned to walk, to grow, to develop all the important skills for their survival. don't just treat beings as worthless only because they belong to a different species. speciesism is horrible, wrong and just as unnecessary as racism(which it is very similar to).
Combinemon Veganism is not a diet. It is a way of living that promotes doing the least amount of harm that is practicable and possible. Animals farmed for food just happen to be the most used animals, so one of the easiest ways to stop causing harm is to stop eating them - as there are other options available to obtain the nutrients one needs.
Kanau Banau Let's say plants feel even more pain than animals. It's still more reasonable to be vegan, because it takes more plants to produce meat/milk/eggs. 1kg of beef needs about 6,5kg crops.

@@tuonghoang5391 here is whats happening when you farm cows for dairy: 1. You repeatedly separate infant cows from their mother causing her great distress just in order to extract something that isn’t even remotely healthy for us. 2. Young male cows born of dairy cow mothers are often barely giving a chance at life before having their throats slit and turned into veal. 3. Dairy cows are exploited to the point where they become terribly sick and are often slaughtered for their meat prematurely. So you tell me if there is any reason we should still be consuming dairy in this modern age.
@@mansoorkhanjadoon1360 You are still enslaving an animal to serve your needs. Mind you, i dont think thats a bad thing, its just a thing humans have become accustomed to over our evolution/history. Those things are a matter of might makes right, a matter of convenience. Humans rule, our defining ability, the one that separates us from the rest of the world is our ability to enslave it, to twist it so it may serve our needs. It is how we prosper. It is in our nature. Theres no reason to try and change that, no need to prevent suffering. Might makes right, Humans rule, so long as we are not seriously challenged on these precepts there is no need to change.
I've been sick for some time and it made me imagine what other animals farmed for food feel like , No sentient animal should be subject to unnecessary harm and pain .
this is precisely why my family hand-raises our own livestock or goes hunting/fishing. there is no unnecessary suffering, either a comfortable existence with all their needs met and free of disease and a quick death or roaming free as they were made to followed by, again, quick death at the hands of a predator, no different than a mountain lion or a hawk in that last bit really.
2:45 "...needlessly harm..." How do you need to harm an animal. Who decides that you can harm when you need. And what kind of need? Survival? or fun? or pleasure?
@@MustafaBirsoz I just said you tell me. You're the one who should use your brain to debunk what I've just said. Otherwise, you're just using a question with no answer.
I like who "needlessly" is added every time. So it isn't needless to shove tons of meat down your throat every day which makes it so we have factory farming which of course are fucking terrible for animals. We already know we are needless hurting animals, we just don't give a shit. Shows how great the human species is.
Jorgensen Penus it's all about supply and demand. Unless the human population were to drastically decrease, there's still going to be a lot of unethical farming due to budget.
it's illegal to cause _needless_ suffering yet eating meat is okay...? have you seen how the vast majority of these animals are really treated behind the scenes? to treat them perfectly would be totally economically prohibitive. and all for what? a fleeting taste in your mouth that you've been conditioned to enjoy? it's terrible for the environment, cruel to animals and is linked to an array of health problems like heart disease and cancer. you're not a bad person for eating meat, but you're doing something bad that you have to honestly address and correct.
So true.. I think the problem is that people don't consider themselves murderers, because they don't kill, they just buy meat and eat it. But what they don't think about, is that they support the murderer, and create the demand, that makes the murderer kill more and more animals
XXJamie XX oh yeah eating meat 2 time a week can get you cancer. In today's world you can get cancer thanks to everything. Good luck eating vegan even though "plants also live".
Excatly! I don't see why should we even attempt at experimenting with animal pain. Just assume that they do feel it and try not to cause it unnecesairly!

"oh yes i can totally taste the difference of this lobster that was dead a few minutes before boiling compared to this one that was boiled alive." you see how silly that sounds.
I know that good cooking etiquette says to put the lobster in the boiling water head-first so that it dies immediately without suffering further. I frankly cannot think of a "better" way to kill a lobster... what would be considered a more "human" way? inject it with poison? shoot it? crush it? Electrocute it (which is just another form of burning the head)? I don't really know. While in doubt, I just avoid eating lobster >_
George RR Martin wrote a short story where humans move to an alien world and they ate the sea creature and loved it but the sea creatures are actually conscious they just had no way of communicating with the humans until they got a translator there and that's how the humans found out their world was being destroyed it was because of this "food" they were you eating
Nikki Lukowski I think it was Tuf Voyaging . not certain. check out Preston Jacobs youtube channel's 1000 world's book club. it is all consisting of George RR's early work with links to read.
There's a similar story - the novel "Under the skin" by Michel Faber. It's been turned into a movie but I haven't watched it yet. The novel is about an alien species similar to monkeys who sends some workers to Earth to hunt and farm humans the way we do with cows (minus the hunting part, that is). The novel is written from the perspective of one of those workers.
A conscious experience of pain is important for ethical judgement. If we just accept that wasps have a conscious experience of pain, it is unjustifiable that we use any practice which may cause pain to wasps in order to remove a wasp nest. After all, we could be causing excruciating pain to thousands of aware beings. However, if a wasp nest forms on someone's house, it is ridiculous to suggest that they give up their house to minimise global suffering. So in order to maximise global happiness, it is important that we know what can and can't feel pain like how we do, as blindly accepting all animals feel pain grants moral consideration to entities which may not deserve it.
Some people are just like that, being pushy, but the majority of vegans aren't like that. You only hear about the pushy ones because those are the ones that stand out.
Someone has to speak up for the countless voiceless animals that are killed by the billions every year... And hey if you were in the animal's position you would be glad you had vegans trying to help make a difference and to help cause change. If you were in the animals position the "quiet agreeable apologetic vegan" Is doing nothing to help prevent other people from harming you.

this video just shows how egotistical anf idiotic majority of people are today, there are actually those who believe animals don't feel pain, humans treat animals horribly
The demand for meat is high. But that doesn't justify killing animals. Animal agriculture is an inefficient business, and it's not necessary to feed the populous. If anything, we'd be better off feeding everybody WITHOUT the meat industry.
I think u dint get it. We humans know that other mammals suffer from pain,But we still kill it because we want their meat. *This video* makes you question about animals apart from vertebrae .Do they feel pain? Like the crabs you boil. If they don't feel any pain then i think, its perfectly normal to boil them(as with plants, they too live but cant feel pain)but if they do, such practices should be banned.
Science leads people to thinks uninstinctively, most of the time. For example, surveys of medical professionals indicate that as recently as 1986 infants as old as 15 months were receiving no anesthesia during surgery at most American hospitals. The doctors thought infants did not have a nervous system developed enough to feel pain, and this idea remained unchallenged. Mostly, because doctors never bothered to share this information with the parents. So, don't ever believe in anything blindly. Recently, WHO just u-turned over their opinion about healthy people wearing masks. Instinctively, people would wear masks anyways but WHO started by saying that no there was no need and now, well, they found out people appearing healthy can also spread the virus and so the best way is that everyone wears a mask to avoid potentially spreading the virus through cough and sneeze.
Abrar Ur Alam Instinctively, wouldn’t it be better to be safe rather than sorry? In the meantime while some results are pending, it is better to instinctively think, “this would hurt me, and will probably hurt this organism that functions in a similar way to me”.
@@bugayden2287 yes that is my point, work on instincts till you are sure. Btw I forgot to mention, which maybe causing the confusion as to which side I am on, the infants do feel the pain during those surgeries. Its horrifying to imagine how those children may have felt.
I'm having a blast reading all the butthurt comments from vegetarians and vegans thinking the world revolves around them. Get over it. You're only reading things into this that you'd like to be there. When I hear "needlessly" and wonder when we need to cause animals pain, I only have to think about the nightmare that's taking a cat to the vet. They're clearly in distress, and yet it's clearly for their own good. There are many other situations like this. Use your brain when thinking, not your misplaced sense of justice.
I think the point of a lot of vegetarians is that there are animal farms that treat the animals like shit then kill them for food, i wouldnt exactly call that ''for their own good''. But in the end i agree that vegans need to chill the fuck out, ever since life began there have been animals suffering and dying.
Oh, I understand that part of their reasoning perfectly. I'm a vegetarian myself. I just hate people who get aggressive over something silly like the way a sentence is phrased.
Gamesaucer yet in the end the phrasing of a single sentence can mean, pain, murder, a life in jail, a missed opportunity and so much more. A single word can already make a huge change& take you somewhere unexpected. So don't tell people that they shall not react to the phrasing of things.
Fair enough, Chiara. I guess phrasing does make a big difference in some situations. But right here it shouldn't. In fact, I'll just straight-up say I prefer it _with_ the "needlessly". It makes too much sense to leave it out in my opinion.
So i have hamsters how will they show pain and why do they try to jump form high surfaces even though they should learn Stop because it is harming them ??
Sapin Culé it probably knows it hurts him, for him it might be the cost of escaping you, even by making sound he can alert you and make you detect him. Get him a bigger cage or something.
Trying to make us all go vegetarian? HUH... Edit: I am already a vegan and this comment is just for fun... Moreover, I have no problem with eating meat, that's simply what I haven't been doing since birth. And not being a vegan would not disturb me at all. so people go easy on me.
Not once did the video suggest we go vegetarian. It's informing people that things like eating an octopus (while it's still alive) is likely to cause it pain. If you think it's fine to cause unnecessary pain to animals then you might need to notch up your empathy a little.
"animals are important to us so we should avoid causing them pain" animation- happy cows kicks a man on slight pain. reality- cows electroshocked and banged on heads and skinned alive for your breakfast or hand bag.
Eunro yes in several parts of china their limbs are cut so that they don't resist, then they are skinned alive, you can check in google. i saw one video of it, there is no healing afterwards.
i always learn more from these videos than my college classes which i pay hundreds of dollars for. Why can't they hire professors that are not so monotone and boring?
Kali Takumi Yes its idiotic isn't it. I came looking to find how my dog feels pain. Is he giving me signs he's in pain and I'm not getting the message? That sort of thing. I worry more now that he's getting older but I see it was about all animals and not just dogs and cats.
This is an interesting video about the different ways of species feel certain stimulation on the body. I know some are more complex than the other, but this video made me understand more.
When it comes to the Hermit Crab experiment (3:57), I have a theory as to why the crabs would leave 'undesirable shells' when zapped with electricity. When an human body is zapped with electricity, muscles tense up. The theory is that the same thing happens to hermit crabs, and their tense muscles feel greatly constricted if they are in a 'undesirable shell', whereas if their shell was adequate their bodies wouldn't press against the shell as much. This would motivate them to find another shell as the one they were currently in 'hurt' them.
And as a hypocritical meat eater myself... I agree with their sentiment and message. I've reduced my meat intake where I can. I think we should still eat animals which are dying/very old as long as they are not forced to live their lives in miserable little cages and are killed painlessly.
+Anoni Aris Vegans, a lot of the time, not always, seem to think that because they are not eating meat, they are somehow better people than the ones who do eat meat. I have absolutely nothing against not eating meat if you don't want to, but stop making false accusations and assumptions that the only reason for eating meat is because we don't give a fuck; that's simply not true. As long as we can't grow meat for the mass market in a lab, raising animals for food won't stop, no matter how many vegans would want that. The only realistic thing to do, is to try and make the living environment better for the animals, use less animal products and get better monitoring on how the animals are treated and eventually killed. If people want to be vegan, that's fine. If people want to eat meat, then that's fine too, but it's completely unreasonable to think that everyone would turn vegan (and a not well thought out idea), so that is not the right cause to be fighting for, which is something more vegans should realize in my opinion.
Great video. They feel pain just like us. By the way, we are animals too. The fact humans are unable to understand a fish, doesn't mean they don't express what they feel, for instance.
This video doesn't discourage eating anything, it is only saying animals that feel pain should be killed in the least painful way possible and not be made to suffer.
Before few months, I read a news that a cook put the crayfish into hot water. There is one fortune and one misfortune. One is the crayfish escaped the pot, the others is he got scaled on his right claw. He agonized few seconds and he cut it himself. Lately scientists proved crustaceans has complicated neural circuits. That means they delicately feel the pain. I think we must respect the animals cause they feel the pain or emotions like us. And I believe the world will be full of happiness by cherishing each other.
if you love animals, you should go vegan, you'll be healthier than ever, save the planet, other people and the animals! Watch these great videos: Beyond Carnism by Doctor Melanie Joy The best speech you'll ever hear by Gary Yourofsky Watch these documentaries: Earthlings Cowspiracy Forks over Knives Lucent Farm to Fridge If you don't know what to eat, just search on yourube for vegan recipes, there are plenty... after 20 years I still find more and more stuff to do and I've never had such a great time eating. :)
I'm trying to come to terms with myself. The general consensus of many studies states that invertebrates can feel and experience pain and suffering. This means that the emotions and feeling I experience through injury or suffering is also felt similarly by animals. I have a common understanding of what an animal feels when injured. I can sympathise with the animals as I am one too. So why, for all these years, have I knowingly been paying for these animals to suffer? Out of complete disbelief and hostility, I have countlessly put down and disregarded those who have been compassionate and caring towards animals and their experience to suffer. The lack of empathy and connection I have shown is completely unacceptable. I have been blinded for years. We all have. I will now swear by myself to never eat or use any meat or dairy. I am disgusted at the suffering I have caused and this video was the tipping point. I am grateful for this.
Adam Gaska tbh I don't understand what you mean. Why it is "just" a feeling? Pain can be physical or mental, but if it's a physical pain we are talking about its obvious we will hate it. It tells us something is wrong with our body. We are programmed to hate pain because it keeps us alive.

This mass production of meat for consumption and the horrible way the animals are treated is terrible. Ah I can't remember her name but there was a woman who designed a different way to slaughter cattle without unnecessary suffering. I think some cows should just roam the wild too. Humans don't need meat, it just tastes good. We learned about a study on bacteria in meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans. It was very interesting.
@@linus6718 Hmm, why? Humans' circumstances and capacities are different from those of wild animals. Shouldn't we act in accordance to our circumstances and capacities? For example, we generally don't have any need to hunt gazelles, and we have the capacity to understand that, and to make the choice.

Yes, pain is essential for learning. When you learned to walk, you fell down, hurt your knees and knew you did wrong. When you touch a heated hotplate, the pain teaches you to better not do it. @ everyone who eats meat and dairy and exploits animals in all other forms
@@epicpownsor you dont kill a cow to get dairy?????? is there something I haven’t learned about????
@@tuonghoang5391 here is whats happening when you farm cows for dairy:

No sentient animal should be subject to unnecessary harm and pain .
this is precisely why my family hand-raises our own livestock or goes hunting/fishing. there is no unnecessary suffering, either a comfortable existence with all their needs met and free of disease and a quick death or roaming free as they were made to followed by, again, quick death at the hands of a predator, no different than a mountain lion or a hawk in that last bit really.

Not true.

Aint it possible for an elephant to also die of a heartbreak/depression
Yes especially birds
No organism dies from"Heartbreak", they die from stress. However what causes that stress could be considered a "heartbreaking" experience.
I like who "needlessly" is added every time. So it isn't needless to shove tons of meat down your throat every day which makes it so we have factory farming which of course are fucking terrible for animals. We already know we are needless hurting animals, we just don't give a shit. Shows how great the human species is.
hypocrites, all of us
Jorgensen Penus it's all about supply and demand. Unless the human population were to drastically decrease, there's still going to be a lot of unethical farming due to budget.
It's the overconsumption of meat that's the problem. People don't need to eat meat every day which a lot of people do in western countries.
yay for the human species /not. we're fucked, I think
Jorgensen Penus might as well just murder every omnivorous animal in existence because they needlessly eat meat even though they can eat plants
it's illegal to cause _needless_ suffering yet eating meat is okay...? have you seen how the vast majority of these animals are really treated behind the scenes? to treat them perfectly would be totally economically prohibitive. and all for what? a fleeting taste in your mouth that you've been conditioned to enjoy? it's terrible for the environment, cruel to animals and is linked to an array of health problems like heart disease and cancer. you're not a bad person for eating meat, but you're doing something bad that you have to honestly address and correct.
great so you've stopped eating meat? you just said the animals are treated unethically...
So true..
I think the problem is that people don't consider themselves murderers, because they don't kill, they just buy meat and eat it.
But what they don't think about, is that they support the murderer, and create the demand, that makes the murderer kill more and more animals
sgtsnakeeyes11 animals eat other animals. We (animals) also eat animals it's natural

Sea creatures spoil faster than land creatures.

+Larkspur I don't necessarily agree with it, I was just answering their question.
George RR Martin wrote a short story where humans move to an alien world and they ate the sea creature and loved it but the sea creatures are actually conscious they just had no way of communicating with the humans until they got a translator there and that's how the humans found out their world was being destroyed it was because of this "food" they were you eating
it was like a polyp or something that didn't even move
Do you remember the name of the short story? It sounds super interesting

I feel bad that we as people still haven’t noticed that all animals feel pain. They just don’t react in the same ways.
Don't say all now your just grouping everyone together. Not everyone sees it the same way.
@@robertfly5991 I didn’t say all, at least not in the way you think I said it
A conscious experience of pain is important for ethical judgement.

Why?
Fucking thank you, Gamesaucer
Fair enough, Chiara. I guess phrasing does make a big difference in some situations. But right here it shouldn't. In fact, I'll just straight-up say I prefer it _with_ the "needlessly". It makes too much sense to leave it out in my opinion.

Ugh, so many vegans on their high horses in the comment section again...
aDotFromTheFuture I know. People need to chill.
And as a hypocritical meat eater myself... I agree with their sentiment and message. I've reduced my meat intake where I can. I think we should still eat animals which are dying/very old as long as they are not forced to live their lives in miserable little cages and are killed painlessly.
+Karradaguy Exactly my thoughts on this matter.
If people want to eat meat, then that's fine too, but it's completely unreasonable to think that everyone would turn vegan (and a not well thought out idea), so that is not the right cause to be fighting for, which is something more vegans should realize in my opinion.
aDotFromTheFuture they're allowed be they don't kill sentient beings

0:55 thats my face when im hungry for the 14th time to day
I'm trying to come to terms with myself.

Yes, pain is essential for learning. When you learned to walk, you fell down, hurt your knees and knew you did wrong. When you touch a heated hotplate, the pain teaches you to better not do it. One pain might tell you to pull your hand away, another might tell you to calm down.

My dog was outside with me as I was putting swings up on a playfort thing when somehow the swing hit my dog. He ran around in a circle barking (he normally doesn’t bark) and went to the door trying to get inside. He doesn’t really go near the playfort anymore.
Me: so cockroaches also feel pain huh?
This vid: yes
Me: ok *preparing my flamethrower*
Jejeje
The entrance of their theme song sounds like going into a dream 0:00
Best teaching channel!
I'm sure that when my cat was found 4 days ago covered in blood screaming(meowing loudly) she was in pain.
Nah i am pretty she was just Meowing in pleasure Maybe she is a Masochist You dont know! I am not an animal expert Too but still!!!
@@casanova7635 Hi, this was four years ago and my cat has since passed away, we found out a while after I found her like that (this was not the cause of her passing) that she had been attacked by a local fox but managed to get away she however lost half of her paw in the process.
@@aloistrancy. Oof i am so sorry. I was Being Sarcastic too the people who actually think animals dont feel pain. I am so sorry for your lost. I adopted my cat from my neighborhood Because She Was attacked by another cat. Cats Arent treated good and fight here. So i know your pain.
@@casanova7635 it’s okay, It seems people don’t tend to care much about cats, I’m happy you adopted your baby she needed you.
@@aloistrancy. I have had a cat, not for long tho, my parents sold it after it was proven way too expensive to keep and that also everyone of my family members was scared except me, my young brother, and my dad i dunno why, I'm glad I didn't have to deal with a loss like that but i'm still scared it might have died after we sold it, sorry for your loss even tho your last comment was five months ago ;-;
Many non-Human Animals have far greater senses of smell, sight, hearing etc than we Human Animals do.
This being the case, you could argue that some of the more 'advanced' Animals feel pain far more intensely than we do.
Are we going to inflict these barbaric 'pain experiments' upon all species just to see if this is the case?!
I honestly hate how some humans think, I think the world would be so much better off without us
The world doesnt give a shit, its just a massive rock surrounded my trillions of other massive rocks. And even without humans there is bound to be some other creature that evolves to be just like us if not worst.
donalds ass world would be much better off without westerners, you are the root of all bs in this world.
Alright. You go first.
