We would be spend about 2.5 million won(korean currency) for a family of four member. all those includes telecommunications, transportation, and utilities, and is an all-inclusive price. And we also do some insurance, pensions, and savings. It all depends on how you spend your money, especially in traditional markets, where there are many special discounts on late hours. be happy!
Wow! 🤯Do you own your place? Still - very impressive for a family of four! Yes, it depends on how you spend your time in Seoul - restaurants, cafes, and events add up fast, and there's so many to enjoy here.
this video is so helpful! I lived in Seoul a couple years ago, but ended up living paycheck-to-paycheck because I had no budget and didn't watch my expenses. now that i'm back in the US and better about managing my money, I've been wondering if i would really be living paycheck to paycheck again if i went back to Seoul
I'm glad you found it helpful! When I first came here I was similar to you😅I spent a lot on experiences, food, and traveling. Now that I actually pay attention to where I am putting my money, it's definitely possible to save a good chunk of my paycheck!
Your expenses are not that bad especially since you have a full time job. I’m currently a college student in America and my part time job doesn’t make me that much money. I plan on doing a working holiday in 2 weeks from now and I’m going to keep my monthly expenses under 1 million won (this is including rent).
Right! Spending and saving money here varies so much. There was one year I worked part-time so that I could focus on studies. I was definitely cutting back expenses during that time (and we lived in a cheaper place), but I was not able to save money. Luckily my husband primarily supported us through that year, so it was possible for me to make the change to part-time work. So you'll be doing a working holiday in Korea? Best of luck and enjoy it! ☺
@@shaneayo Yeah I plan on doing it in Korea. I’ve been studying Korean for a while but since I live in the suburbs of the US I barely have any chances to use it so I’m excited to get more practice once I move to Korea. Also the prices of living alone in the city closest to me was almost impossible with my income so I decided that trying to live on my own for the first in Korea would be the best choice for me (especially since I have friends there too).
I've never known that there is a unlimited card for the public transportation. Thanks! By the way, I've been living in Vancouver since 2003 and you gotta to pay $1700~2200 at least for a small studio.
There's so many great looking, affordable homes in Incheon! I've spent loads of time on 직방 dreaming about it 😂 The price we pay to be in the city center 😪

In the US, the transportation expenses may be over $1000/month because you have to drive by yourself and a lot of costs are involved
@questforreality3774 Yes! I don't miss having a car. When we move to the US, we don't plan on getting one.

To buy fruits and vegetables, you should go to the local market. The costs are way cheaper there!
Yes! We had an amazing fruit/veggie market in our old neighborhood, but our new neighborhood is lacking one as nice 🥲We do stop by one occasionally
