If it was caught in southeast MN, highly unlikely to be a hatchery fish. Very few Brown Trout are stocked in SE MN and only in a few streams, most of which are around Preston-Lanesboro area. Probably 90% of Brown Trout there are wild naturally reproducing fish.
Can you do a tutorial how to fish with the rapala? I’m just on the other side of the big river from you and have always fished with spinners but trying to switch it up for some bigger fish.
Have caught alot of 18-23" But it seems the 24 & up are much rarer, maybe an age thing,& under fished streams. Our group have caught up to 27" and I have observed afew that we estimated to be 28-31 during the hex hatches feeding along side smallies and other roughfish eating notjing but the huge mayflies And yes,I am familiar with browns over 30" having fished lake Michigan tributarys for decades. Not even bringing out the camera for fish under 33" back in the early 2000's when they were running really large.36" were the largest landed, but observed and lost "much"larger.
MN DNR has tons of free online maps for where to fish trout including all the publicly accessible water via angling easements, Aquatic Management Areas, state forest land, etc.
Congrats on the huge brown! Awesome video and way to keep that fish in the water as much as possible. Tight lines my friend!
Great looking fish!!😄
That is a gorgeous Brown!!
Insane fish man! I lived in southern mn for two years and was never able to find any larger than 15-16 inches. That’s impressive.
Great spot. Seen my fair share of mega browns in there.
Where’s it at?
Great fish man! Those streams there look crystal clear, I'd love to fish em, awesome video man!

Nice fish of a lifetime for wild brown. Great job
Not wild. Hatchery release. Still a nice fish.

Big time!!!😮
angling in action, do you ever fly fish or are you a caster?
Mainly spinning for now. Started trout fishing in 2021 so haven’t gotten into it much yet. Will probably do a lot more this summer.
What river is this?
Root River?
Alright alright… I know this spot. I spent 2 hrs trying to get to it on Saturday. How the devil do you get to it??
What county are you from man? I grew up on the river by Lanesboro out in Filmore county and miss it dearly.
Olmsted County!
@@anglinginaction7337 Oh nice like on the zumbro? I grew up fishing the Root along the bike trail.
@@BAMvideos12 yes I live by the south branch Zumbro
I thought the zumbro didn’t have trout?
@@sawyerwalser1527 Its probably either a branch with springs or upstream of where you're used to fishing.
Nice video men in what county are fishing or what river?
Him!!
Hey I’ve been there. Didn’t catch shit! Great spot tho
i live in minnesota and wanna fish trout idk where to go
Figure it out.
Head to the SE corner of the state and go like 20-30 miles upstream on almost any river draining into the Mississippi.
