You have really improved in the years I’ve been watching you. You even speak in a more confident and warm tone. Looking at your work now it’s obvious you have challenged yourself to get outside of your box while still remaining true to yourself. It’s nice to see.
I remember you saying in the past that you'd like your art to be more 3D and I feel like this drawing is an awesome example of bringing your style into 3rd dimension
@@peter_draws I am truly glad that you are enjoying your life and creating wonderful artworks that you are able to share with us! I am glad that UA-cam is able to be here to provide an income for you!
You using Fixative reminds me of when I was in art class in high school and art school and I just used hairspray to do the exact same thing. Well, it wasn't exactly the same. The pencil and other soft media would stick to the paper *_almost_* permanently, but the paper always warbled and warped. Also, it was only my sisters and my mom that used hairspray. They fancied the squirt kind which the Earth Lover in me LOVED but the starving artist in me dreaded having yet another one of her pieces possibly splattered. The cheapest hairspray in my area was colloquially called ChaCha Net -- Aqua Net anyone? -- but that stuff came in three formulas -- hard hold, extra hard hold, and you-can-use-individual-hairs-to-cut-diamonds hold! Ah memories... Thank you, Peter.
Hullo Peter, I hope you continue to enjoy the desire to create artworks that you are truly proud of and willing to share your ideas with us! Thank you for sharing this part of your life journey as well as your Art journey with us! I hope you know how much you enrich others lives just by being you!
That's a really cool offer! Maybe Peter will take you up on it. Some day I'm going to do linocuts, which I find incredibly fascinating and beautiful. I need to find More space, my other art things already take over most of my home. ;)
One of the wonderful things about studying the Masters is finding out that they, too, struggled. They had plenty of moments of indecision and insecurity. I think this drawing is excellent. Yes, it does show chiaroscuro! I recently watched Peter looking over a sketchbook, and noting where the darks were nice and dark, and where more might be needed, and also talking about the balance of the drawing, using other words. Peter, you're already ahead! All those years are already paying off, big time. I think a lot of art school for you will be expanding techniques and knowledge, and you'll grow as an artist. This is so very exciting to see. Oh, and drawing people? Skills!! I'm much older than you and I've never come half as close. That includes a few sort of portraits that were in your sketchbook. Kudos!!
There are always two reasons for me to watch these videos. For one they help me sleep because it is not a noisy video. It is very calm and gentle. The other reason is that this kinda... grounds me in my ability to draw, because I used to think I cannot draw because I could not represent reality. And while I am definitely learning on how to shade and about perspective and all that, these videos have really inspired me to really figure this kind of stuff out and I am really happy about it.
You have moved into another maturation, and I compliment your progress. I hope you never stop making these videos because they will live on and on to help artists become stronger.
Hello I just found your you tube channel and I love your drawings I recently bought the zentangle pigma micron pens but they have stopped working Can you advise Love from Scotland
I'm sad and annoyed that I'm not getting notifications for your videos! I've been watching you for years! I love the drawing Peter! It's super interesting!😍😍😍
You have just made me realize that I missed my true calling (or whatever). I really SHOULD have been an art TEACHER, I can only imagine how special it must be to guide and critique brand new art, good or bad, birthed into the world in a crash, or a laugh, or a sigh, perhaps a scream, but always with passion. To see all the different interpretations of a technique or an idea, etc, is "right up my alley", as they say. Alas, I chose to be the artist instead, and that's enough said. Listening to you talk about your drawing and art in general over the past year or so, I can tell Art School might not make your ART better (is it possible??!), but it has already opened your mind so you yourself can better understand it. 100% all the way, man!
Note on the "people": it's not until you see the old man with a stick in your drawing that makes you think you're seeing more people. He's the only one looking like people at all, really. For some reason unclear to me, I also avoid anything that looks like people in my paintings. Now you got me wondering why, exactly? Not sure you did the poor dog justice though...The only one NOT impressed by the MAN deserves a bit of emphasis, no? Nah, it's a great drawing, love the interpretation :)
Your concept and re-imagining reminds me so much of ‘Flatland’ by Edwin Abbot. I had to read that book for a class once, and your piece of art is how I thought of that book:)
Your progress is amazing peter , i found your channel many years ago after your mandalas period and since there i been watching your work constantly thru the years I'm really fascinated with your work and your progress man Im proud of living in the same temporary line and be able to keep watching you I send you a warm hug from mexico Mucho amor y felicidad para ti Peter!!!
Fascinating drawing. I like the way you changed Jesus into a pyramid. It suggests the light is reflected rather than Jesus radiating some infinite source of god.
Is that a 2mm lead holder you swapped to? I've started using those as well and I love them. I got a neat brass sharpener from ohto for them the other day.
I'm so happy you made this video. I saw your upload on Instagram and literally as soon as I saw it I was like "God I hope he makes a video of this one." (No pun intended) Awesome stuff!
Great job as usual Peter! I'm curious about a technical thing, what's the device you showed us Rembrandt on? I like how it doesn't seem to have backlight.
Heyo Peter! 👋Love your reimagining of the piece (concept and metaphysics of the theme included). It's also interesting to see other aspects of your process when working on a piece like this one.

I always knew he was capable of this and it's fun watching the evolution. Not to detract from his doodles because those are still awesome
AMAZING
Yo peter,
We need a new minecraft series!!
I remember you saying in the past that you'd like your art to be more 3D and I feel like this drawing is an awesome example of bringing your style into 3rd dimension
peter you have done so much in this channel, so much work tell me what's your secret, what keeps you going?
I like drawing and making things and this lets me earn a living making whatever I want

HYPE for one million subs.
I've followed you from the start.
Bless you Peter.
If peter doesn’t get 100% on this assignment, i wonder what the rest of the class results looks like
I got a 100 :)
@@peter_draws awesome !! congrats peter
@@peter_draws 👏👏👏👏👏
Your darks are amazing! Oh and those little dark spaces and concavities amongst the blobs, all reinforcing the central focus…omg Peter, superb🍍
I'm really liking your pencil work and hope to see more.
Reminds me of the 2001 (A Space Odyssey) scene of the monkeys (pre humans) engaging with the monolith.
You are an amazing artist Peter
The Eye of Providence (the pyramid on the dollar bill) looking over a flock of cheese curds. Nice! :)
Melted cheese curds! LOL!!
Peter, what are your opinions of seahorses
Pretty cool, fish without scales
@@peter_draws thankyou for your input
I just like watching you draw❤️
Super relaxing to watch, your drawing turned out great!

I love the upper left corner. Don't even know why, but it's great.
Hi Peter, I really like your art. I hope you have a good day :)
You should give etching a go at some point. If you ever wanted info on a home setup for this i'd be happy to help.

Rembrandt is my favorite of the old masters, his work is amazing. I love his self portraits in ink.
What pencils you used for the sketch?
Well done Peter. you are always one step ahead of what I expected to see

Really nice composition choice, organic but also not. Really cool exercise. 😎
Brilliant!! Love this...and all of your art !
Very nicely done, impressed over your skills doing this Peter. I give it a 5 stars out of 5 ! * * * * *

Rembrandt’s approval at 8:00.

Wonderfully descriptive.
Very interesting art and experience.
What a fun looking project.

It’s an ipad
Your voice is so calming
Excellent take, love this type of "crossover" 😉
Awesome as always
man’s had a glow up 🔥
THIS IS SO COOL AAAAAA
Good picture 👍🙂
Pretty cool man. Your interpretation was very interesting.
It looks fabulous!
i like that drawing, the hatching over the shading, rather than hatching or shading, was very alluring and effective.
This piece is BossHogg, Peter. Absolutely killer.
Phenomenal
Hey is there anyway I could get one of your drawings I watch every video you do, I love your work
PENCILS
Genius!
So good!
Awesome
I love it
Good.
Cool ideas! The other sketch reminded me of some of those plants where the roots meet underground, like mushroom networks.
Does anyone know what that tablet thing is at the beginning?
iPad
An amazing result from a fascinating process.
Excellent
