lp.constantcon... Cheating Death: We Talk To Ex-Three Dog Night Chuck Negron - How Bad It Got
Keith Richards is not the only Rock star that should be dead. I'm sometimes surprised that Zeppelin's Jimmy Page is still with us while, it feels like, hundreds have died in the last few years.
When Three Dog Night first broke up in 1976 Negron was knee deep in a serious heroin addiction it took multiple trips to rehab until he finally got clean in 1991. Three Dog Night got back together in 1981 but Negron only stayed until 1985. His two singing co-horts Danny Hutton and Cory Wells kept going. When Wells died in 2015 at the age of 74 I had a reality check, thinking I always thought Chuck would died first. Then Keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon died in 2015. He was 67. Bassist Joe Schermie passed in 2002 at 56 and Chuck is still here and touring. Three Dog Night is Still a band with Hutton and the only other member from the classic line-up is guitarist Michael Allsup.
21 Top 40 Hits between 1969 and 1975. 11 in the top 10 and 3 went t #1 including “Joy to the World” their biggest hit which was one of the most popular songs of the 70's.
Chuck Negron is set to release the 4th edition of his book called “Three Dog Nightmare.” There a part in the book where he's at Cri-Help, a recovery center in Hollywood, asking God to just die or at least give him a minute of peace. CLIP 3
I told Chuck about my interview with late America singer Dan Peek who left his band 1977. He too had problem with drugs and did different editions of his book as well. Dan had told me he remembered more older stories and had new things to say in his book so I asked Chuck why the re-release?

I saw Three Dog Night sans Chuck with The Byrds in a small facility in Tulsa. The sound was so loud and distorted we had to leave. Years later l saw Chuck with his own band. He signed my book and we had a short talk about addiction. I am an alcoholic eight years sober. I admire people like Chuck who went through the most dire circumstances and lived to tell about it. He truly is an inspiration.
Easy to be Hard is such a Masterpiece! Nobody could deliver it like Chuck! Etched into my soul.
I can Really Relate to Chuck's Story about Addiction because I went through it with myself and it wasn't pleasant at ALL and I Almost Died Because of my Disease Many Times throughout my Own Active Addiction and I have been Sober Over 20 years now One Day At A Time.
I saw Chuck in the "Happy Together" tour last year. While he's in his 70s, he's still an inspiration on stage. I was inspired enough to go out and by his book "Three Dog Nightmare" which is excellent for anyone interested in Three Dog Night and the music of that time.
Chuck was one of my all time favorite singers. So glad he’s doing well
Wow what a person God Bless you Chuck
so proud of him. What an inspiration he is.
Dang this was 5 years ago. Thanks for uploading this. There are songs that effect me throughout different stages of my life. Right now it's Easy (To Be Hard) by The Three Dog Night.
Chuck is a great inspiration for me to stay on track with my sobriety. 👍❤
Thanks for posting luv 3 dog night since the early 70s.
Thanks for this, John! TDN is one of my all-time favorite bands who I often listen to (very loudly) when making dinner. I have to laugh at long hair and thick mustaches: when I tease my millennial grandchildren about all looking alike with tats, nose-rings et al, they remind me of our look and bellbottoms! :0)))
I remember watching Chuck as a kid and thinking, "I want to be like him." Of course, at the time, I wasn't familiar with his other hobbies but man, what a talent! Thanks for watching Martin.
I love 💘 💘 💘 💘 💘 💘 this..we lost so many rockers way to many...awesome job . the interview was super too..Thank you so so much for everything I love 💘 💘 💘 💘 your channel too wow...
Thanks so much!!!!
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference 🙏
Name the famous rocker who had that tattooed on his ankle; the 'serenity prayer'? Answer: David Bowie. That was in 1992. He showed it to my older brother, Charles, upon being introduced to him. 21 years before that, 1971, my brother was the guitarist in the band that opened for Three Dog Night at the Cotton Bowl (The Buddy Miles Band). True story.
I saw them in 1984 at the Cotillion in Wichita, Kansas.. All the original members were there and it was amazing.. Every note was in place and the band did some great jams..
Yeah it's a shame they couldn't keep it going a bit longer. Those three voice together were amazing. Thanks for watching.
Chuck Negron will be rocking at his 100th birthday party . 🎸🎸
May God continue to bless him 🙏. In Jesus Christ precious name Amen!
Excellent interview!
Classic songs
Jesus was truly waiting on him to reach his lowest point.
Hopefully he accepts he can't do it without him
I met Corey Wells once in the late 90s. He said there was no plans with Chuck Negron coming back. I always hoped the three would but unfortunately it never happened.
Have not seen anyone as hot in 20 years. OMG
I don't understand something. I've seen interviews with Chuck where he says that Danny Hutton is keeping him out of TDN because he's jealous of Chuck, but I just saw your video where Chuck says that Danny and Cory were okay with him coming back, but Chuck wasn't interested. WHICH IS IT????????????
Correction, there were three lead singers in Three Dig Night.
Joy To The World
Great interviews
Chuck fortunately...found the LORD!
I hope so. He mentioned God but not Jesus specifically
I'm not a Rock fan , but I was impressed with his vocal prowess. I hope he found Jesus and is not in the New Age.
I read that Chuck dragged a mattress that was in a dumpster to a vacant building. That was now his home.
Chuck was at the Wonderland house a few days before the murders. He definitely cheated death!
"Even toured a bit with Led Zeppelin "....yeah and Led Zeppelin opened for Three Dog Night not visa versa
Can anyone elaborate on which God or Gods these druggies are praying to?
