@@user-po8ze8zr6y Hey, you could do a little trick if you have the space on your disk. You can copy your current installation and then downgrade the game (either in the original folder or using a new folder like Gopher shows). If you use the video process, then you will already have a separate folder for FoLon. And if you downgrade in the original folder, then you can copy the downgraded original folder to a new copy, call it Fallout London and then restore the original folder from the first copy created. I did that while downgrading place and now I have side by side up-to-date Fallout 4 (in the original folder) and FoLon next to it.

I already bought the GOG version the moment it was released. I LOVE that I have off-line installers that are sitting on a spare external disk now. I also made a directory full of all mods that work on that version including the mod organiser, so I can always install the GOG version and drop all the mods in it. It's like having a time capsule. No matter what happens in the future, I always have a working Fallout 4, completely modded and running perfectly. For me the "icing on the cake" was that the Fallout London mod installed perfectly on this version. Of course I also made a backup on the same drive for that one, so everything will be preserved for the foreseeable future. And Yes - I also have the Steam version, because I bought the boxed version before the game was released, and could only activate the game using Steam (the same way it went with Skyrim). I now have Fallout 4, Fallout 3, Fallout NV and Skyrim on GOG. So whatever happens, the games are already downloaded, stored and thus preserved for now and the future on my external hard disk.
With Rootbuilder (in MO2) you can have all versions installed at one; first as a base the next gen update and all the files inside the game folder; then the official downgrade (wich only touches the EXEs and steam API dll) to play regular Fallout 4, and in top of this the whole old version (1.10.163) to play Fallout London. Even if this is an advanced plugins, and it's not perfect, once you discover it, you cannot go back to play without it.
Yeah, I had the same issue. I tried to copy and paste in the files from my o.g F4 folder to counter it and it let me install and hit play but the game doesn't boot
For what I see, he says there are 15 depot archives, and the last one on his folder is the one i cannot recognize. There is no depot_540810 in the fallout london website...
It would have been an excellent option if FOLON had provided just their 'Data' folder, so all those who want to use a mod manager need to do is unpack it and drop it in Vortex or whatever you use to install and deploy mods. I'm pretty sure that could have been an option for their package. The way it is now seems way more laborious to unpack, run the installer, sort through the files to get the folder, and clean up the mess.
That would be breaking the law and they'd have been crushed, as would GOG for letting them do that. They'd need Bethesda to OK that, and if Bethesda were ready to do that, my guess is they'd have just OK'd having Fallout London as a stand alone game on Steam as they eventually did with Enderal.
I downgraded when I installed the storywealth mod collection and I remember it was relatively quick and didn’t ask for steam info either anytime during the process. I just installed the patcher, ran it, done. Took a minute at most to do after the install. Is this a different downgrade than the one in the video? I’m wondering because my downgrading experience felt so much less involved than what’s been described lately haha
you should do a mod list tutorial about recommended mods to improve performance For fallout London. I see the devs recommend buffout, but It get confusing to know which mod versions are compatible with the downgraded version since buffout has additional requirements itself. The process is kind of confusing and it would be nice to have one video explaining it all.
My only question concerns the xSE PluginPreloader instruction to launch F4SE with a -forcesteamloader argument. It's easy enough to do, but I wonder if Steam would read that as giving permission to update the files. 😏 For now, I'm running without the argument, and it seems to work fine.
@@bluejay7071 Yep. There are only three. We've already got F4SE, as part of the Fallout: London install. I chose the all-in-one version of the address library. And the xSE PluginPreloader seems to work fine for me, with the default settings. Is the mod working? I dunno. But I'm now more than 10 hours in, and all seems fine.
I followed the downgrade instructions and Fallout London was crashing badly like every 2 minutes or so, wasted half a day on downgrading and troubleshooting. I ended up getting the GOG version, installed Fallout London on top of it and it seems to be much more stable
@@GENESIS_GAMING-2815 Thanks, but I already had buffout installed. I got it working eventually. BakaFramework.esm was disabled and I had to enable it back via Vortex. Now it runs rock solid since then.
Glad I disabled updates for my copy of Fallout 4. I take it that means I wouldn't need to mess about with any of this and can just install Fallout London?
Following the video I stopped at 9:29 because I noticed even after all the depos had finished downloading, depot_377163 for me has only about 3 items. A data folder and 2 app extensions. Whereas in the video for you in that dep there's a whole jumble more. Just wondering if I've done something incorrectly or if there's been a patch/fix of some kind.
Here's a question. Now that I've bought another Fallout 4 from GOG and am playing FO London from there...that means I still have the FO4 on Steam and so I still should be able to play the Steam one, amirite? I mean, I still wanna play FO4.
Thank you so much Gopher! This really helped me a lot! I do wish there was a way I could have both next gen and downgraded versions on my computer though, because I don't want to have to go through installing the next gen update then doing the downgrade process again each time I want to switch between FO4 and FOL. Do you think it would be possible to implement by just changing the name of the folders and checking/unchecking the Read Only box?
I've followed all the instructions, including switching the game into 'only update when launched' and making the appmanifest read only but the game still tries to verify and update when I launch using the F4SE. To clarify, the game *does* launch, but in the background steam starts the 'verify game files' process and begins an update.
My game was fine then today I had a disaster and had no idea what was happening then realised it had randomly chosen today to keep trying to auto update. Why the London team of Bethesda didn't fix this is so dumb.
For next video: The "Buffout 4" mod is required for Fallout: London, otherwise the game will crash when on the moving train. Also opening the default launcher and changing settings will break Fallout: London, so use the mod "Fallout 4 Configuration Tool"

I know that this is 100% a mistake on my part and that I have done something wrong. I would very much appreciate it if someone can give me some advice, even if it means i have to completely re-do everything. Thanks
Much to my annoyance my game updated last night after playing FOLON for an hour, turns out even if you have it set to not update unless told it'll still do so if the f4se_loader is run. Hopefully this will be the only time I have to do this, and that they get the next gen update compatibility out in the near future.
when i get to the point of testing is says: The procedure entry point SteamUser could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout4\Fallout4.exe. Btw my new downgraded fo4 is called Fallout 4 in files.
Wow. I can follow directions but this seems above my pay grade. I think I'll buy the GOG version to make life a bit easier. One question I have not seen - can I run 2 separate instances of Fallout 4? I'm loath to give up my heavily modded old game.
Great video description but I have a question, when you coppied all the files from content to the downgraded version of the game folder you said you get 93gb but mine is only 34.8? Is this because of the HD texture packs? All good just read the top comments..Thanks
I'm a little confused. You keep saying 15 folders, but in your description, and on the fallout london page, there are only 14 download depots for 14 folders. Where are you getting the 15th download depot?

Thank you, Mr Gopher! Looking forward to your Let’s Play ❤️
I'll just wait until they update London to work with the latest upgrade. No hurry.
Could be a very long time though. It really will depend on when (and if) Bethesda fix the issues and a lot of the more 'essential' mods update.
@@GophersVids Well, the issue is I did the upgrade and got all my old mods (all 143 of them) to work just fine. Just a little time and some waiting for updates. Not much fuss. Don't feel like back-pedaling for one mod, no matter how grand it is. I can wait.
@@user-po8ze8zr6y I understand. I'm just saying that at this moment we don't have any idea IF that's going to happen, let alone when. Bethesda don't seem to responding to the issues in the next-gen update, which I'd imagine is the reason some mod authors aren't updating their mods yet.
Very helpful as always Gopher thanks, especially as I've never played or modded a Fallout game before but want to give London a try. Look forward to the next part with installation help :)
Wow you made this look so easy, i might have to give this a try myself now
Been following since Morrowind. I don't know what we'd do without you Gopher! 👍💪👊💯
PS. - now I have to get that Stiv hoodie! *Absolute Christmas present for myself.
im having trouble finding the depot_540810 file/folder.. ive looked in the description here as well as the fallout london page. i tried pausing the video and typing it into a note then copy pasting it into the console but it says "Depot download failed : missing license for depots 540810". i have all other 14 folders but that one and im not sure what to do from here..
I found that weird myself too.
Edit: It's the HD texture pack. Skip it
I just bought the GOG version just to support and show love to the devs of Fallout 4 London mod ❤️
Hmm. I wonder if GOG is crediting them for purchases over a given time period. 🤔
I did this as well so I can have both a GOG and a Steam version.
I'll just pass. i don't want to visit the UK this badly.
FYI, if you can't locate the "content" folder, it may be because you have 2 HD's, try checking the SteamApps folder on the other one.
When I go into Content My files are not there.
Any solutions?
maybe you have your games installed on a different harddrive and your main steam files on a different one
I used the Simple Downgrade mod from Nexus. It was easy peasy. So why did I eagerly watch this video? Because Gopher tutorials are just that good.
Thanks so much for this, very easy to follow along with
Such a legend.
I am thankful for copy and paste and a lot of other people should be thankful I'm not their accountant.
oh come on now I want to read hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy again hah
that last step looks like it'll be useful for skyrim aswell!
Tasty Algorithm Food.
Yum yum yum
Gopher is the GOAT. Thank you sir.
i followed all the instructions exactly, but in the end my files didn't look the same as yours and the game wouldn't even open, any advice?
I have the same problem
Same :(
Yeah, I had the same issue.
@@stephenriggs8177 so did you install the buffout requirements as well or just buffout?
Try installing the buffout mod
@@GENESIS_GAMING-2815 Thanks, but I already had buffout installed. I got it working eventually. BakaFramework.esm was disabled and I had to enable it back via Vortex. Now it runs rock solid since then.
Glad I disabled updates for my copy of Fallout 4. I take it that means I wouldn't need to mess about with any of this and can just install Fallout London?
thank you for an easy video to follow!
I mean, I still wanna play FO4.
just to confirm you do not need Depot 540810 aka HD Texture Pac right so only need 14 out of 15
Correct.
thanks mate, great help. Appreciate it.
Guessing we will be getting a new playthrough Gopher :D
I can't get to the fallout 4 code everything i look up gives me different codes and things what don't work can someone pls just tell me where
Hope you will upload your let’s play soon!
For next video:
The "Buffout 4" mod is required for Fallout: London, otherwise the game will crash when on the moving train.
Also opening the default launcher and changing settings will break Fallout: London, so use the mod "Fallout 4 Configuration Tool"
so what can i do becuase i did open default launcher ?
@@NexY92 Go to Documents > My Games > "Fallout 4" and rename the folder to "Fallout 4 backup" then open the Fallout London launcher and click the update button.
I'm about 6 hours in (Steam version with MO2) and haven't crashed. I'm running the recommended mods minus ENB plus the high fps fix.
Help! I'm missing the "content" folder in steamapps.
I am 14 years old and I am watching Gopher instruct me on how to correctly install fallout mods.
I am 24 years old and I am watching Gopher instruct me on how to correctly install fallout mods.
I'm having trouble downloading the HD texture pack depot. When I try it just gives me an error message saying that I lack the license for it. Is there a workaround for this?
Can someone please help me, I followed all of the steps in the video and when i try to launch the game through F4SE it says that " you are using a newer version of Fallout than this version of F4SE supports", even though i have the previous version enabled.
That's a late upload!
Well, in my timezone at least :x
Yeah, going to bed now that I know it went through :) I'm tired ...
@@GophersVids Sleep tight, thanks for the video!
when i get to the point of testing is says: The procedure entry point SteamUser could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout4\Fallout4.exe. Btw my new downgraded fo4 is called Fallout 4 in files.
Thank you so much for this video it was very helpful'.
Thank you so much!!
I regret not downloading fallout 4 before the update -.-
Pretty fun so far.
app manfiest just translates to "steam"
like the words on my computer change to steam out of nowhere its bizarre
I got my towel lets go!
I tride to do this downgrade and it got rid of ALL my saves I need help to fix this plis
Gopher is the character you VAd easy to come across? Main story/faction. Or is he in a side quest/area. I’m hunting for you 😂
Pretty easy to come across :)
Just gonna leave this here to come back too😅.

Wow. I can follow directions but this seems above my pay grade. I think I'll buy the GOG version to make life a bit easier. One question I have not seen - can I run 2 separate instances of Fallout 4? I'm loath to give up my heavily modded old game.
does it matter if i cut and paste them to my hardrive folder? will that stop this from working?
ayo this is easy thanks homie
Great video description but I have a question, when you coppied all the files from content to the downgraded version of the game folder you said you get 93gb but mine is only 34.8? Is this because of the HD texture packs? All good just read the top comments..Thanks
I'm a little confused. You keep saying 15 folders, but in your description, and on the fallout london page, there are only 14 download depots for 14 folders. Where are you getting the 15th download depot?
Fallout London is a godsend.
apparently HD texture pack is neither required nor even reccomended
min 8:30 I cant find content folder. I don't think I missed a step? help
Also when I look up file app_377160 in my files nothing is found
Same problem
@@upperdogg3175 ok so this file I found on my ssd and not my regular hard drive if you have multiple drivers check through them
So how to i get into the files for fallout 4 i can't figure it out
Bless you Gopher
Data/Fallout4 - Meshes.ba2 are in both Part a (depot 377161) and Part b (depot 377163). Which of the two should be used ?
I'm going with the second one. It's from a newer(?) depot, and larger in size. So presumably they added something to it.
@@reshypoo9447 Yup. I followed the same logic. So far, all runs nicely! 👍
They forced the next gen update, and destroyed the modding community. Thankfully that there are persistent people out here, thanks!
Trying to follow along and when attempting to download "download_depot 377160 540810 1558929737289295473" I keep getting a error message. "Depot download failed : missing license for depots 540810", I have no idea what any of this means.
That means you don't own the HD texture pack .... which is odd. But actually you should NOT enable the HD texture pack for Fallout LOndon anyway. It MIGHT still be OK.
I got the same error. I will update on what happened to me when I finish installing the game.
