This IS THE BEST channel on UA-cam and the net for baitmaking hard to believe you don't have 100k subs yet I have learned so much thru the years thanks Chris for great content
This comment right here! Spot on! You should have a million subs with this content. The fishing industry is too large for something this valuable to be overlooked. I have and will continue to share your channel with fellow anglers and/or bait makers. 👌🏾
SERIOUSLY MAN you rock! One of my favorite fishing channels!!! You are trooper pumping out videos while not feeling well. We all appreciate you for sure.
Shower puff (whatever people call them) and a hair side comb is what I’ve been using for a decade for hard baits. Works amazing for scales and doing bluegill patters
Best UA-cam around. I love your videos man. Not only your dedication to fishing and lure making but to your family and faith. Many blessings to you and yours in 2022! Thanks for the content
A fun tip I have found is that a "science" beaker is a great tool for dipping tubes. You can get tall, low volume options that give you more length options when dipping without using too much plastisol.
Chris, I just bought a pneumatic tail cutter. It'll compliment the multiple A.I. tube molds i bought. I know tubes aren't really your thing, but if they were, you'd make them happen. I don't know if you know what Tora Tubes are, they were very popular out here in California. When the "Stocker", Rago, and Castaic swimbaits came out, the big Tora tubes took a back seat. The big Tora tubes had a good hook up radio. It was soft and thin. Kinda crumpled up like a Yugo when bit. They hung onto it. When my mold is done, I'll send you a few. It'll look a tad different than the original, for legal reasons of course.
@@WorldsWorstFishing i bought Kyle's vice. I think I'm going to have him ship me 2, 6ft rails..haha. I bought the tube cutter 2 weeks before Kyle released his. I didn't talk to Kyle for a couple of weeks..busy, work, Christmas season. Kyle is an awesome man. I look forward to his next release of products. Wink 😉 wink.
The Lureworks line of paint is amazing. I have another box en route. Gotta love ground shipping only for flammable items. The sky is the limit with airbrushing. It's just been frowned upon in our business.
Man I am going to give some of those things a try hope you get to feeling better soon keep the content coming thanks again learn something new every time I watch
Also... That tube tail cutter you're using... I bought a cheap arbor press from Harbor Freight and gorilla glued my tail cutter to the arbor press and then purchased a cheap silicone tube tray to press the blades against. This seems to give me more consistent tail cuts although I will admit, the tail cutting has been something I continually try to improve on every time I sit down and make lures. Happy lure making!
Chris, I love the work that you do on this channel. Within three weeks of watching your channel, you had me off buying molds, plastisol, pigments, vacuum chambers etc. I don’t consider myself one to get sucked into the impulse buy but your presentations really drew me in. In regards to the use of air brush acrylic paints, would I need to clear coat over the paint in order to preserve the paint job. I would assume so because you have to epoxy coat hard baits after you airbrush paint them. I would also recommend trying Golden Monkey from Victory Brewing. It’s quite tasty but you need to commit to staying home for the evening if you have a few!
Hey Chris it's Eric from Jdmr your baby bass on the 6" looks amazing! I had shoulder pain from casting heavy swimbaits every day and cured it with physical therapy and some light weights. I haven't been pouring baits lately the vacuum pump took a dive and ordered a new one finally. I only have the angling ai 4" swimbait mold and that bait gets nailed in a shutdown/cold front. Going to order the Ai open pour fluke, 5" and 6" swimbait as well and will be posting soon again on Instagram. Long thesis here but appreciate all the tips and help you've given me your the Yoda of soft plastics.
I started buying (cuz I dont make) white and clear swim baits, and takin a Sharpie to 'em. Works OK, but man I cant wait to try the comb and mesh ideas! Good luck with Shingles... just had my first shot for it.
Chris I am having a hard time figuring out how to pour the angling AI 5 inch open pour jerk air with the thin flat tail and was wondering what temp you get your hot plate to and if you have any tips not included with the video on the mold
Love the videos bro. Me and my daughter are going to start making are own swimbaits. Dude shingles suck feel for ya. Just wanted to say thanks for your helpful tips I appreciate it.
Damn cool video! I have been making my own tubes for a few years and there is no better feeling then catchin em on a lure you made. PS... I HATE the salt on my hands but it helps keep the lures tails from sticking to itself while you package it... Another hack people can try is instead of the worm oil to unstick your tube... get that aerosol Stoner brand quick release spray and spray a very little bit on your tube dipper for release... I've found that worm oil method will cause issues when the lures sit in your tackle for too long, is generally more messy, and will make your lures smell like worm (I didn't particularly find that helpful with catching fish). One spray can has lasted me multiple years making about 2-500 tubes a season.
Chris, you make some awesome baits. I'm so sorry that you have shingles. I had them last summer and I was in some intense pain for a while. I don't wish that on anyone, and I hope you recover from it soon. That being said, you really intrigued me on the items you were buying. I never would have thought about using those items to help make the soft baits. My favorite was the screwdriver and making the tube bait. My mind is blown. Great video. Take care and rest. It's going to take a while to fully recover from shingles. Happy New Year to you and your family.
How does the paint on the outside of the bait hold up? Seems like it might flake off pretty easy. As always great video, you do some amazing things with the hand pouring
Hey sorry I know it's probably late where your at but I was wondering if you know of any good cnc shops that could make me some custom molds, I made a lure and ended up working great !
Sup man! Really appreciate all your videos! Very helpful. I'm new to this, one thing I'd like to see you do is make a video that shows the little hidden things other than actually making the baits. Such as, mold drying time, how-to clean up videos etc. I've watched a lot of your videos but can't remember seeing any where you told us how long it takes for each mold to cure. Also, I've noticed in a few videos you use one injector to fill a mold, then pick up a different injector for another mold even though your using the same color. Just curious about those small details.
Chris i want to see you make a "glass minnow" What insert, the process..etc. You see them all over for sale in Facebook marketplace. Please take it on!
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
A small stiffer bristle artist paint brush would work great for making those splotches on your baby bass. Just dab up and down where you want , kind of like a sewing machine motion. Just keep enough paint in the brush to come off easily without having to squash it on. Just tap it. If the paint stops coming off the brush...dip it back in and get a little more. DON'T over do it, or it just make a big blob
I'm looking to get started in this business. i am stuck looking for a injector. want one under 50$. which might not be a choice. also what plastisol that cant burn. and looking for a pound or so of salt
That tube dip.. some genius made it here in CA but instead of cutting the back like a tube, they just slanted 1 cut for the tail. Sells for $12/2pc. lol.
Shingles is very contagious, especially if you have blisters going on and even after the blisters have gone you can still catch it off someone who's infected as my brother & I can attain to. We both caught it off our brother in-law who caught it off my other brother and he just had a bit of redness from where it had been, if I was your mate I wouldn't be coming anywhere near you.
