my orange cap i do doff to you sir
the yachts presented by you are old and expensive but good old stuff is just only a violin and wine!!!
For $ 50,000, only the madman will buy the yacht !!!
most lovers of the sea and voyaging over it are a little mad and we only go around once do we knot
With every episode, my marine knowledge is expanded. I love your energy and interaction. Keep up the good job!
Thank you! Will do!
I really expected Ran-Day to do the wrap up while EMT's extracted the Captain from the V berth! He gets props for getting out.
I really liked this one, but with the signs of corrosion and water damage on some woodwork - gives me pause. I think watching all your videos has started to raise my level of awareness. Now; that lighted engine room - one of the better ones you've shown. Kinda balances out some of the corrosion issues. All said and done, a better boat than last weeks - from my perspective.
and we appreciation yours and everyone's perspective
@@YachtHunters No problem been here since video 1.
Met Ted at the Boat show in Annapolis.
He is my favorite yacht designer!
Great boat! Speaking of Ran-Day’s boat, I’m all primed for an update.
asooooon
Thanks as always, and extra for the cameo of the "Spray" replica!
I'd love a tour of the Spray, maybe also a ride lol
Great boat! This one will not last on the market long. I crack up every time Randy suggests CQ getting into tight places, you can hear his smirk. :D
right its ok for YOU to smirk as well I'm the guinea pig
Captain, this would definitely work with my budget and it is what I want in my next vessel! I'm going to watch it again and I just might be taking a road trip to the northeast. This is very much what I want.👍👍
My thoughts exactly! Race you! LOL
me 3!
@@dagdernit572 it's under contract
The ultimate evolution of the Whitby 42. Don’t know how the Captain got up on the deck from the dock - I couldn’t have. Randy you need to carry a step stool with you for the Captain. I couldn’t stop laughing when you made the abs comment - I too don’t have abs anymore. You guys are terrific. Love the channel.
The Cap may not be graceful, but a little muscle memory goes a long way
This is a beautiful live aboard and ready for some great cruising adventures. Just needs a little TLC. Thanks for sharing another great video. Thanks Captain and Randay for another delightful day ⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️💕
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good Afternoon Captain Q
A wonderful ocean girl designed and molded by the GENIUS Ted Brewer that is worth every cent by square foot. EXCELENT 🇺🇸⚘🇨🇺
Thank you for covering one of Ted Brewer's designs. In recent years he had helped me with modifying a RCN Whaler. Ted was very approachable, and helpful. I watch your channel, as you provide so many insights and observations as to what works. Thank you
Thanks for the info!
Great post CQ and Randay. I always enjoy tuning in to your latest post. 🌞🌴⛵
thanks gef
Nice boat gentlemen. Thank you for finding this gem. "I have no abs!" Right there with you Captain Q. Have a great weekend.
Glad you enjoyed it i recently saw a comedian stand up guy lift his shirt and point to his rounded gut and proclaim he had one ab
Loved this boat, which surprised me because I didn’t remember being impressed with the Whitby 42. Great episode!
well this one was certainly in better shape and of course this had the aft companionway and the better underbody
thanks for saying hi
I look forward to your videos and am always smiling at the end.great boat and it looks like your both having a lot of fun !!
Fair winds ⛵️
We are tom and thank you for watching
Now you're being reasonable price wise. If they patch all the little holes, I'm coming with my checkbook! 😎
good luck just gotta ask but it might be too late
Always good to see you both guys.
haha thanks Robert
I love the layout of the whitby 42 but this one is an excellent specimen also!
Another beauty 👍I love those center cockpit being a little high and dry!! That's a mobile water home😁thanks guys and keep on making these videos that I look forward to every Thursday!! Stay safe and healthy guys. Say hello to Seadog and his little friend😁 " use your ab " 🤣😂😅
We will though sadly Sea Pup got lost in one of our trips
Wow this is a really nice layout. A bit cramped in spots but that galley, NAV area/passage allows for lots of options to fit your needs. Really something you could live on and sail far with.
I so enjoy your content ! Thank You !
Love the Captain's laugh when he could not move.
Gary, thanks for the note and watching our dance
Capt Q....please do a walkabout on the Slocum boat ....if you can?
This a great looking boat! Nice find Captain Q and Ran-day!
Thanks again!
Nice boat the aft cabin shape was a suprise it looked more square from above .. good cockpit and shared space .
Like the ability to raise the keel as required.
apparently, there is no centerboard!!!Sailboat data shows the drawing including the cb and being in the water we couldn't really check i i just found this out this evening
@@YachtHunters
Thats an awkward moment... I wonder why, unless someone never bothered using it and had it removed. A project or negotiating point for someone however.
Thanks Capt Q.
This is a nice boat. First one I’ve seen reviewed that I’d actually be interested in. It might b e a little small for me. The shoal draft is very nice. Love a ketch rig.
she checks a lot of boxes doesn't she
Great day! And a very nice find! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
I click 'Like' before I even start watching, as I already know I'm not going to be disappointed.
you're the big dawg!!
Love the broad rub strake.. Love the center cockpit despite the aesthetics detraction (opinion) from aft cockpit designs. Center cockpits are easier to get wet in. Also easier to totally enclose for comfort. Nice high toe rails. You ain't sailing rail down with this without some serious degradation in performance. I love boats that are built to perform rail down under. Just the thrill of sitting in the cockpit with the water rushing so close by. Love the aftermarket Seldon upgrades. Your history of the designers is one of my favorite parts of your productions. The galley on this one is totally exceptional for the price of this vessel. The electrics in the 'tunnel' is exactly how things should be done with that design. Mechanical space is rather exceptional for the price. Love the overhead compass. I love the centerboard despite the increased maintenance. Those work out very well as long as you are not going to use it beat the boat too badly to weather. The anti skid appears on camera to have been done very well. Bow sprit,,,,, short and clean. No need for decking as the sort length allows enough just bending over it. Again though, for the price nothing to complain about. Stainless port lights? A boat after my heart those. Bronze or stainless port lights are always a huge plus IMHO. Love the teak work in the cockpit where there will be a lot of moving about. ALL self tailing winches around the cockpit. What can not be liked about that? The anchor chain stops are not conventional but appear to me to be more than sufficient. The spinnaker pole is well what it is. That track up the mast can be brought into play with little to do. Appears to be a nice enough dodger frame in place. Canvas comes and canvas goes. Dink davits appear to be a bit small but a small dink is better than no dink. Nothing wrong with a track up the mizzen to help facilitate filling in sail between the mizzen and the main when you feel like it. Dinner table has fiddles and looks very nice. Battery switched below the companionway is nothing I could complain about for this price. The fuel system is looking like what I would prefer. Even without possibly a recirc pump for polishing. It would be an easy addition. More handholds would be nice. Your grading of the vessel was spot on. Despite a new rack of sails that might be needed. My ONLY complaint would be chocks screwed into the top of the toe rails. Those chocks could be taken into and below the toe rail on an easy DIY weekend. Very fine looking boat at a very fine price. Fluorescent needs to yield to LEDs. No big deal.
Now, please tell us what you really think about the boat please?
Hahaha. Thank you for watching as well as paying such attention to the details
Have a good weekend
Thats the closest one to the type that i want seen in your videos... wow thank you.
thank you for watching and subscribing
YAY !
I sailed once on the Withby 42 and can say is really comfortable boat. Having new rigging and new engine gives you peace of mind. I wonder about the sails? Are they relatively new too? Thanks for bringing this beautiful sugar scoop variant. I like it.
Another spectacular one!!!🙏😊
Thank you! Cheers!
I really like this design.
You guys have a great channel - thanks!
thank you
nice to compare and contrast the whitby and the brewer - Thanks
That is my next boat! Only I’m not ready to buy her I’ll wait til the next time she’s available, LOL nicely laid out and well taken care of
great idea contacts new owner with your phone and email and tell him to call you as soon as they decide to move off
Another great video of a great boat! Those little handles on the windlass are the clutch , release them to free fall the anchor
I did not know that. Thank you for heads up We love the minutiae sand try to get it straight but CQ is getting old Thank you
@@YachtHunters Captain Q is the best 👍 I have basically the same windlass by Ideal . The free fall option is handy just don’t forget to tighten it back down or the anchor is not gonna come back up
“Judges have corrected the math”. Classic!
I love your channel and I don't have to turn down the music. I am a jazz musician.
RanDay is a great DJ isn't he
Wow! Except for the headroom this seems to be my ultimate dream boat!
Duck?
Nice … thank you
The Old Captains excuse of not being able to get out of the berth. That had me in Knots.
and you thought we were kidding
Great boat. If i were 20 years younger, I would sail the seven seas.
A brand new 110hp diesel must be worth $30k(?). No apparent leaks. Hardware and systems are in good shape. Clean, plus heating and cooling. Looks like a real value.
subject to survey always of course
Beautiful you two!
the chickens aren't bad either ;)
Great boat, great value!
thank you glad you enjoyed it
venus fly bed hahahahahaha Good one Ran-Day !!!
A boat only needs a table to be perfect for you two Cards... thanks.. again...
we're soooo easy
I’m not sure if Randay got his extra point in for the labeled plumbing, but l will certainly second his motion. This is another nice one. Thanks and take care.
we give lots of extra points
Thumbs up for extra points!
Nice and interessting boat
Now that’s a nice boat
no argument here
Love your reviews and your knowledgeable informative show, except for your blind affection for ketch or yawl rigs. With fifty years of sailing experience both coastal and offshore, more often than not I find myself the sole sailor on board and not as nimble as I used to be, thus the need to simplify the sail-handling to the max. Years ago when I had small children aboard, the same logic applied. I want a rig that is easy to reef and simple to control, so the added ketch mast and gear are more of a nuisance than a plus. Give me a good Bermuda rig or even a gaff rig with or without electric winches, but with a traveler system that is easy to adjust over a ketch anytime. In the mean-while my current vessel is a well-designed coastal power boat which simplifies the sailing a lot. Keep up the good work, Captain.
I absolutely love this boat and it's priced to sell fast
you have good taste Karen
Captain Q and Randay!!! My Thursday is now complete. What a gorgeous small ship. This is the one to challenge seamanship skill while viewing Mr. Ed on the tv screen docked overnight. Sail single handed to the Seashells with full confidence. A brand new engine? All for under a hundred grand? Surely you jest gentlemen. I know, don't call you Shirly. I think I was sold from the stanchions. That's a lot of ship and I don't know if you would recommend it as a first boat but I think you may want to start a little smaller starting out. Thank you once again and when are we going to see you sail Randay's boat?
Sooooooooonnnnn
@@YachtHunters Yaaaayyyy!!!
Ran-day I know your a busy guy but i'm itching for an update on your own boat .
he hears you and is hard at work to get his next episode to all of you fans
@@YachtHunters I'm sure I'm not the only one 🙂.and thank you for the reply .I am sure it will be interesting . I do wish i was living over there I would be happy to help him get that mess in the engine room in shape .maybe he could get some of the local viewers or some sea scouts to come volunteer some time to help him .And they could get some hands on experience .
"Sailing Alone Around the World" is an awesome book. Amazing what Slocum achieved. Wonder what ever happened to him and the Spray
its sitting at my bedside waiting to be finished so much to read so little time
All I want to do is live on a boat. For health reasons I cannot sail and here in Hawaii they have no live-in slips. So I'll just have to set one in my back yard I guess...
... aloha 🤙
I don't have a love for climbing so my question is how often do you need to climb to the top of the mass?? I would have to get me one of those nice heavy duty nylon chairs so I could just be winched to the top
Very Nice
If only I had a wife that liked the water. I guess that will have to wait for my next wife or likely my next life. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
( i think its best we keep this between ourselves ) lol
At sea you could use the rear companionway to the aft head as a wet locker, keep the main salon sealed up and bone dry.
one good thought the shower is perfect spot
A cruising boat with storage and more storage. Looks like lots of plumbing updates. Asking seems about right in this market. Nice middle of the road boat.
Thanks Jack few of these boats are perfect and of course when they are it always reflected in the ask right?
@@YachtHunters Good God yes. The level of sad and bad is always out there. I've told clients that even brand new boats have tons of issues. I've never understood the resistance to house, car crossover concept. Nothing is perfect out of the box and certainly not 10-20 years later.
Great video! My wife and I went to see this one. Nice boat the broker was very knowledgeable. But we decided it was not for us no centerboard.
Thanks for sharing!
"I have no abs. I really can't move!" Haha!
Waiting for Randy to launch some new videos of his boat.
SOOOOON
.. Cheers to you ..
and to you
"It's a Venus flybed", LOL
felt like it omg thought i would never make it to the wrap
Indeed.
indeed to you as well
Congratulations on your 90th episode! That's a great boat. You and Randay never disappoint with the gems you find. You're going to have a tough time finding something extra special for episode 100 which is just a few weeks away! No pressure, it's just an observation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
omg of course we would like to have something really fun and we do have a back log of really intesting stuff fingers crossed
thank you for caring
It needs to be something under 100k, fast and around 40 feet. Boat porn basically.
Nice
Gordon Shaffer beat me to it. With the same syllable. YAY!
you guys are funny thanks for joing us on this amazing ride
“Venus Fly Bed”
Excellent…
hahahaha
Pretty nice boat
thank you it's really a treat to discover these firsthand
Definitely a lot of boat for the asking price!!! Great vid of a great find!
A nice yacht for sure. Modern conveniences like the sugar scoop are nice especially on a Center cockpit. One comment and one question. CQ looked very comfortable maybe too comfortable on that ICE Hinckley. What was that sleek looking yacht on the port side?
Lyman morse we think
I would bet that this boat - like Randy's - will sell for more than the asking price. It would be interesting to add a coda to this video when she finally changes owner, with the new tag.
she may be gone already great family live aboard history for these
👍
Captain randeey should have told you about frictionless pants boat was great an a steal of a deal well maintained and a very nice layout except for the bonk your head shower slash tub other then that a 100,000 price tag and you got it a very sweet vessel alot of thoughts Ted brewer took from like monk on moonraker and Bill gardens ketch center cockpit he took from monk very classy fiberglass boat and built right you can tell the build quality looking at her
its fun to draw the lines from designer to another as they grew and expanded in numbers with the growth of f/g technology
@@YachtHunters looked at the william garden last night little revenge, and monk with moonraker and also remember moonraker came to be the whole skookum line center cockpit ketch aft berths and head with shower tall coaming on cockpit and just great sailors in fiberglass a skookum is unbeatable for a boat it's size name as many designs and builds you name perry forget about it 😀 hanse Christian snail stuck in molasses great build to old of a design inspired to much by Colin archer and the likes great in bad weather but we have better weather for casting by sailors now
“Captain Crunch” (abdominal demonstration ref.)
NOT EASY BEING THE CAPTAIN
Love your show! The boat? not so much..
Great boat. If I were 20 years younger! When do we see Ran-days boat again?
SOOOOOOON
Hi Captain Q enjoying this video and many others. Could you please comment about the smell onboard.? Some vessels smell really bad . Maybe all do but your comment would be useful.
Yes, absolutely sent along a good book :Get Rid of Boat Odors" by Peggie hall. google it and buy it . covers a lot of the sources especially holding tanks . Be sure your bilge is sparkly clean and not filled with oil or antifreeze or worse used as a sump for the shower
Hello, Captain Q! I am seeking a boat to live on. I can’t sail yet, but I start lessons in June. I’ve been hearing scary stories about insurance and live aboards. Is it difficult to get a loan for a boat? I’m so sorry for all of the questions, but I have been researching for a while and you know exactly what you’re talking about! I appreciate your videos!
everything is getting more difficult and expensive and the liability issues have grown since the old days the older boats may be difficulty to insure for loss but at least you can get some liability to cover the guy you hit Talk to your banker directly tell him her your budget and like any loan tell them your assets and liabilities and your job info most loans will be predicated on your ability to pay back not the value of the boat good luck cq
@@YachtHunters Thank you, Captain!
I believe Captain Q could sell a boat to a Bedouin tribesman!
sell him and oasis first
I sail a Brewer designed Morgan 382. He knew sailboats. I have always admired the Brewer 44. This vessel is priced awfully low. It would help educate viewers to explain why? Tired gelcoat? Baggy sails? Corroded tanks? Something even more serious? One rarely sees a Brewer 44 selling under about $170,000.
everybody has an opinion about what they think their property is worth some are more realistic than others
ha ha, the Captain has one Ab.
thank gawd for that one
👏👏👍👍
How would that compass hanging overhead in the V- berth work? The card would not be riding on the pin!
I DONT KNOW BUT THEY DO
Very similar design to the Peterson 44
your right though the Peterson is a little hotter for sure
Super clean! Very nice boat this episode. Ran-Day should have gotten points for comedy 😂 when CQ tried sliding forward and Ran-Day responded “ you might have to use your ab “ hahahahaha another great episode!
hes really cruel sometimes
@@YachtHunters we all are sometimes Captain Q, but it’s good to be able to laugh at each other also! Always look forward to Thursdays . Keep up the great work
When we getting an update on Ran-Day's boat?
sooooooon
11:24 What would someone want to attach to the mizzen using that track?
anything they want but i think it is a die they use for mainmasts on other boats
2 things I hope will NOT happen watching your videos. 1) I end up wanting to buy a "sail anywhere" boat....I'm happy enough with "you should stick to coastal cruising with this kind of boat, boat" ;) 2) I see something I like this season......I'm taking a "boat" break last season and this season for travel.
noooooooooooooo
Isn't this a yawl? It looks like the mizzen mast is behind the wheel, rather than in front.
A yawl has mizzen behind the rudder post. Not about location of the helm. But a good question.
I did not pick up on the location of the centerboard control?
apparently, there is no centerboard!!!Sailboat data shows the drawing including the cb and being in the water we couldn't really check i i just found this ou this evening
I would have really liked to see one of these boats when new. 34 years later it is still a great design. I loved that chart table/workbench area.
I actually had to use my "abs" once or twice today.
sorry
@@YachtHunters I was just joking. I hope that was not a sincere apology. Thanks for making a great video once again.
Haha. Life’s too short to be sincere all the time
But
I try not to use mine any more than ab-solutly necessary
I did get out my road bicycle and going for it
Keep smiling
reminds me of Delos
Greece? i couldn't say
