This area is a recreational paradise and escape for many a Washingtonian every month of the year. This was a bonus drive the day we visited Roslyn, where ‘Northern Exposure’ was filmed and where I took some footage of the town (that movie will air this Friday March 8th at 3pm… it’s a fun one, and please note that Fridays will be the new release day).
Even slipping out of the door for several hours can refresh the soul. And doing that in Washington, is pretty easy. Home. You know, it’s easier and faster to get to scenery like this, than getting to Seattle sometimes!
I have hiked in this area and I can only say it’s far enough out of the big city to experience a special kind of magic only acquired by those willing to make the extra effort to get here. I would explain it, but words just can’t. You have to… feel it. When the stillness and the breeze and the hush of nature envelops you in a hug of mysteriously comforting… umm.. yeah. Fill in the blank. THAT.
This video is a great representation of the demure beauty that hides along the hundreds of backroads in our state…. She may not be Miss Universe, but she IS the girl next door, who sometimes holds a great deal of inexplicable loveliness once you get to know her better. A wallflower like no other; she doesn’t shout out, “Look at me!”, she just quietly smiles and waits to be noticed. Anyways, enjoy this little mind cleansing escape with an open heart… and I’ll catch ya next time!♥️
