What are your sewing resolutions for 2024?
🥂Happy new year!, seems like you have a very exciting year ahead.
I will try to work on better fitting and try to make all the unique pieces that just live in my brain rent free :D
Love your plan and just know that you are going to be making some fabulous garments that are going to make me jealous

I’ve been with an American Sewing Gilde chapter (actively) for a year now and, wondering “why I didn’t get involved sooner? 🤪I love the ladies, I’ve learned a lot from them and about the needs of our community, and the club meetings are always fun.

It’s so true! Every time I have a cart full of fabric, I remind myself that I’ll always be able to find amazing fabric and then I abandon my cart 😂

Mari, I'm so inspired and impressed by your tenacity, energy and goal setting for 2024. My goals? To sew more for charity; i.e. Dress a Girl 2024 (already starting now) and Angel Gowns.

Amazing goals and I know you’ll crush them!! I’ve been wanting to meet more sewing people in person as well. My trip to Florida last year as well as meeting up with Carole and Adam in the UK just made me want to spend more time with my tribe!! 💞

Love your goals and mine a tad similar. I’m not needing a reduction but also want to get to my goal weight and my original B cup so I can feel more comfy. Low buy, weightlifting…. All same. Let’s get it 😀😀

Happy 2024 Mari. I had my breast reduction in 2008. Best thing I ever did. I was lucky my insurance paid for it because of my back and shoulder pain. I was at the top of my weight fluctuations and did it anyway. There is a definite limit to how much of a reduction they can do. I have lost weight since then and I’ve gotten a little smaller, but nothing drastic. My advice don’t wait. Wishing you health and happiness in the new year. ❤Dotschi❤🧵
OMG. 😱 Now I need to research this a bit more because I didn’t realize there was a limit in the reduction. I want to lose a significant amount of weight, so I’m thinking that maybe I’ll still try to drop pounds but maybe not weight until my goal weight. Thank you so much for sharing!
I’m hoping to attend DC frocktails. I missed that sale but I will still purchase a ticket.
I also got tons of fabric from my sister’s stash and I want to use all that I picked out.
Last, my sister gave me her Lutterloh system and I want to try those patterns, including making trousers.

All those goals sound achievable. I try to make resolutions I can actually accomplish so I dont feel like a failure!

I am the same bra size as you. I went to see a dr for consultation on a reduction. I am large enough to get one! Maybe after my daughter finishes college.

College costs a lot, and so does a boob reduction. We are doing college now. The thing about sewing is that I don't feel deformed anymore. All those button up shirts don't pop open when I make them. 😜@@MariSews

Great goals Mari, I can only imagine the back pain you must have so I don’t blame you for wanting a reduction. I think mini capsules will be really useful to make. I’m hoping to upload more this year as well.
The mini capsules will definitely help as I slim down. It’s so funny how something like a reduction can make you so happy. I’m looking forward to watching your videos, as well!!!

The 2023 year was a tough one for me after major back surgery, my sewing and other hobbies were put on the side. So if you do have surgery please give yourself time to heal. I’m hoping that this coming year I will be able to create sewing items that have been living in my head. I also look forward in participating in project dress a girl.
So sorry to hear that 2023 was rough. I hope the surgery was successful and that 2024 will be filled with so much joy for you. Those garments that live in our heads definitely need to be made!

Still working on the Pogonip 😂. I got the welt pockets finished and have taken this one slow. Part being distracted and part wanting to take my time. I am joining you in the low buy. My sewing room is full and I will feel much better when I sew up some of my stash.

After my sister, who is 5 foot three inches, was told she looked fine from two male surgeons, she finally found a female surgeon who did her breast reduction. She paid for it out of pocket and never looked back. She literally had no pain after the surgery! And now she can go without a bra if she chooses. She did end up with one inverted nipple so watch out for that. And who knows, you might start a new line of workout clothes. Best of luck!
Whoa. I’m shocked at the audacity of those male surgeons. I’d be happy to deal with an inverted nip if that means I could go braless 😁

I love this. I've already dedicated myself to a no buy/low buy year. I was generously blessed with a few gift cards for a couple of fabric shops so like you, I am purchasing project specific fabrics. As you know, I've been going through my collection of gorgeousness. Now i am going through my notions. Looks like won't need any of those either. 😏😏Maybe interfacing. But again, I will make do with what I have until I run out.

I think that's the direction I'll go in. I'd love to attend Frocktails this year, but you know my challenges. Though things have come through at the 12th hour. I'm thinking of making the dress I have in mind anyway, because this IS the year to live and dress everyday like it's a special occasion. Here's to being and doing the most in 2024!!!!😍😍
You’ve been doing such an amazing job with getting your stash down! I typically weight until I can use a 50% off coupon at Joann’s then I’ll buy a bolt of interfacing. It’s part of why I have so much but I think I’ll continue doing it as o run out because that’s been super useful. I can’t wait to see what you’re making this year! It’s always fabulous
