Once I seen Chapman was pitching 9th I felt we would at least even the score. We own that dude. Must win today to ignite another winning streak heading into homestand. Crowds will show up at Citi this week and place will be rockin!!!!
Omg I forgot about Alvarez hit by pitch. His elbow will be stiff as a board and swollen for a few days. Indeed that made my boys drop...I just checked todays lineup(mondY) and Alvy is at DH
Francisco Lindor may be the most polarizing ballplayer to apply his trade in Flushing since George Foster. That being said, Lindor is a criminally underrated talent. His tenure got off to a rocky start with the "rat or raccoon" incident with McNeil and the "thumbs down" movement started by his buddy Javier Baez. In the interval since, we have seen Lindor mature into the leader he claimed to be upon his arrival in Flushing and reclaim his game. That being said, Lindor's omission from the All-Star Game is ridiculous, how many shortstops in the National League are better? If the Mets qualify for the postseason, Lindor is an MVP candidate, how is he not an All-Star? Pete and Brandon don't deserve All-Star consideration as much as it pains me to say. In hindsight, Francisco Lindor's time in New York has become reminiscent of Reggie and A-Rod's time in the Bronx, a "love-hate" relationship with "Ebbs and flows" of disgust and admiration. As always, the production value and chemistry between Samantha and Ashley is high quality. Your show is time well spent ladies, keep it up, the future is bright!
Agree Alonso only got in the all star game for the home run derby. I did read on espn that this year we have 32 first time MLB All Stars which is mind blowing to me. I haven’t watched the All Star game in over a decade so I’ll be watching reruns of Frasier and Columbo instead.
Blown save wins are actually quite common, so much so that Fangraphs proposed a rule change to MLB to revert the win back to the starter or previous pitcher. Their analysis from 1992-2011(not '94 & '95) showed the average number of blown-save wins in that time period is 76 per year. The fewest was 63 in 1992; the most was 87 in 2004. League-wide averages per year: Blown Saves: 600 Blown Saves followed by a team win: 200 Blown Saves followed by the same reliever winning: 75
With so many teams in it later into the season now with the three wild cards, MLB needs to bring back the waiver deadline. This would give teams an extra month to see if they are in it or not to be able to add some smaller pieces.
Talking about wins and blown saves in the same game. It appears the last time it happened was 2019 by the Dodgers Kelsey Jensen. It looks like the record for most blown save and wins in the same game over a season is five by Billy Koch for the A's in 2002.* He blew six saves that season but then ended up getting the win in five of those six games. *from what I can find researching the Google machine.
I played on same travel team with Billy koch in early 90's. We had a sick travel team called the Bayside Yankees. Best times of my baseball career. He wasn't as filthy as he was before he went to Clemson and then the Show because we were 16-17 years old. He was still pumping low 90's with a left turning slider. I batted 4th and hit bombs. We traveled up and down east coast and as far west as cincinatti.
I agree that Mendoza’s bullpen management is costing Mets wins. He is inconsistent. Scott’s last outing he pushes him to try and complete an inning when he was obviously gassed and at 99 pitches until he gives up a 3 run homer. Then he removes him when he is cruising with one out left and at 77 pitches and the game blows up. It seems he manages to some analytical based game plan and fails to manage according to the game he sees being played in front of his face. Baseball has a human element and needs to be managed with instinct and not just statistics. The Mets should be holding a wild card spot if better decisions had been made with utilizing starters and relievers.
I've learned a long time ago that is don't matter if Mets fans voted because in the end, The casual fans will out vote fanbase voting, so there's that & the all-star event was much more than just popularity contest & cool clicks, it's used to be about #'s, stats & merit. But that's cool because in the end, Lindor & Nimmo will always be Mets real all-stars. Great Job Ladies! P.S. Lindor & Nimmo > All-Start Event
Intern Dan is spot on. Why the Mets have only 1 lefty in the 'pen is ludicrous. Walker is the best relief pitcher in Syracuse(1.42 ERA, 34Ks in 25.1 IP). Why isn't he on the big club? Stearns may be playing chess, but the game is checkers. Mendoza continues to pull his starters too early and make poor pitching decisions.
Agree with you about Lindor and Nimmo. If the Guardians still had Lindor, could you imagine what their record would be? The Yankees remind me very much of the Dodgers offensively in terms of a lineup that is top heavy and then drops off after that.
Matt Gage is from Johnstown, NY(between Albany & Syracuse). That's good. He has a lifetime 4.22 ERA in the minor leagues. That's bad. Let's see how he does in Syracuse. I would bring up Walker and Young, when he's available after optioning.
You two are Syracuse Mets experts. I keep up with the stats and farm system. I am curious about your opinions of Luke Ritter. His numbers suggest that he has some pop in his bat (18 HRs) though he does strike out a lot and .249 is his best batting average in MiLB. At age 27, do you think there is a path for Ritter to get called up?
He has been lighting it up in Syracuse this season and I think this is the season he has finally made a push to deserve a shot. Not entirely sure where he fits but simply can't be worse than DJ Stewart. At 27 and with his production the last few seasons he at least deserves a look down the stretch and especially for 40-man roster
If Mendoza doesn't pull Nunez in the 8th, the Mets win that game 1-0. Generally, if a closer has a lot of wins, he also has a lot of blown saves. Usually it is blown in the 9th and won in extra innings.
Even in years when the Mets are great they never get a lot of All Stars. Met fans don't stuff the ballot, clearly Phillies fans do, come on Turner? he has missed have the games. .MLB likes the "Stars" in the All-Star Game, Alsonso is the MEts biggest star and they wanted him in the HR derby, plus Alonso is kind of a baby saying he would only participate in the derby if he was on the team.
Sorry, but I have to combat against the "snub" narrative to a degree here. Nimmo didn't even make top 20 in votes among NL outfielders despite him being a top 5. Lindor was behind Harrison Bader and Starling Marte. Pete Alonso got the most votes out of the whole team. Alonso and Olsen were battling for 3rd in voting for first basemen. We can't get mad when we, ourselves, don't show up to support our players when it comes to All-Star voting. Same when it comes to Christian Walker of the Diamondbacks. He was 8th in terms of voting despite him being much better than Pete this year. We have to show up for these players and show support if we want them to be in the all-star game. It's the Mets. If we don't support our own players, no one else will.
Agreed on fan voting, just wish the commissioners office would actually pick the players most deserving statistically and not just fan favorites. Lindor is only one of top 15 players in WAR to not be an All Star
I do not like Mendy pulling Nunez with 2 outs in the 8th. He just struck out Robert's and deserved the next batter. I give Mendy tons of credit but his trigger finger when it comes to pitchers leaves much to be desired!
The Mets have enough fans to stack the vote and send Lindor to the AS game. They didn't do it. Why? On May 20th, after his 47th game this year, Lindor had a .193 AVG and a .616 OPS. Last year he was hitting .211 on June 17th. He started his Mets career poorly and he starts his seasons poorly. He also was in with Javi Baez on some anti-fan antics that I think the fan base still has a problem with.
Lindor was the only Met worth garnering an all-star nod. Nimmo nice solid season but not all-star level. Alonso snubbing Christian Walker is an absolute joke. I'd even give Reed Garrett a nod over Alonso all day. You ladies had me until you said the Mets are a better all-around team than the Yankees. I can't stand either team, but Mets rotation one of worst in MLB. Zero ace on the staff.
You ladies do a wonderful job , but a team that is hovering around .500 certainly does not make a case for All Star representation . I wish both of you continued success and hopefully your team won’t continue to be a sore spot in your lives . Good luck to both you ladies and keep up the good work , on a parting note Lindor ain’t Jeter .
Since ROB MANFREACK became the COMMISSIONER these things happen. Besides the ALL STAR GAME is not what it used to be. Right now is just a popularity contest.
baiting heaving should be a crime cause lindor with a .759 is not AS😂Nimmo might be a different case but what about Alonso it should of been Walker soo again no. Those two should not be in the ASG
Not only is Lindor one of the top SS offensively and defensively every year,he posts every single day!!!!!
CONSISTENT
I love what this intern said. Spot on!
Once I seen Chapman was pitching 9th I felt we would at least even the score. We own that dude. Must win today to ignite another winning streak heading into homestand. Crowds will show up at Citi this week and place will be rockin!!!!
Its all about the names, not stats anymore sadly for the ASG. Alonso shoudve turned down the Home run derby to back his teammates for not getting in.
So he shouldn’t have fun
To bad our win streak ended today with yet another bullpen implosion! I really miss the guys we lost to injury.
Omg I forgot about Alvarez hit by pitch. His elbow will be stiff as a board and swollen for a few days. Indeed that made my boys drop...I just checked todays lineup(mondY) and Alvy is at DH
Because JD Martinez is hitting .080 his last 7 games
It’s a marketing thing for MLB they don’t care at all about actual stats…it’s a popularity contest

32 of them and Brandon Nimmo could have been 33. Alas

Agreed completely!

Thanks for watching!
You forgot to mention HOUSER who has done a pretty good job coming out of the bullpen.
Until the last few appearances, especially today!!!!
Intern Dan is spot on. Why the Mets have only 1 lefty in the 'pen is ludicrous. Walker is the best relief pitcher in Syracuse(1.42 ERA, 34Ks in 25.1 IP). Why isn't he on the big club? If we had a half-ass competent bullpen I believe we'd be batting with ATL for the #1 wildcard spot!
Would be interested to total just how many losses the 'pen has accounted for this season

Interesting that hes a NY native
Forget Max Scherzer and give me David Robertson. I couldn't agree with you ladies more.
You two are Syracuse Mets experts. I keep up with the stats and farm system. I am curious about your opinions of Luke Ritter. How about Mets fans stepping up and getting our guys voted in! The Philly fans get their guys in! Makes me sick to admit that 😢
Yep us too
Definitely highway robbery not having Lindor and Nimmo in the all-star game!!!! I swear Lindor gets robbed yearly!!!!
I've been to a lot of MLB ballparks. I think Oracle Park(San Francisco) is the nicest, most beautiful park in MLB.
Better than the Trop?😆
@@Elephant2024-wi2li the Trop is a palace compared to Oakland
Have not been there but I have heard rave reviews
@@jamesbuckley8917 Being a Rays fan, I love the Trop. It is the only home they have ever had.
lindor has a slow start every season. many people's interest wanes as we hit summer months. bad combo for fan voting
EDWIN DIAZ needs to develop another pitch, either a changeup or a splitter.
I believe Pete doesn't deserve to be our all-star rep. Is MLB that desperate to have him in the home run derby?
The METS shoildn't go after SCERZZER, but go after ROBERTSON.
Schzzerrzzeerer no more good

Jake Dumpman more like it!

Lindor and or Nikon should’ve been considered for starters not backups…too many stupid people choosing all stars

Thanks for listening. Sam meant the Mets lineup is more well-rounded 1-9 in comparison to the Yankees reliance on Judge and Soto
@WhyMetsPod ok for sure, it's def very close. If we take out soto/judge and lindor/Alonso i.e., Mets lineup is better I have to agree there.
The only thing that ALVARSZ has to improve on is his throwing trying to throw out would be stealers. It's a cross between poor and lousy.
All-Star voting is a joke! All about popularity. Mets are always 2nd fiddle

Lindor is a better fielder.
Nothing to do with mets record. But the batting averages weren't good enough. Alonso shouldntve made it either
absolute joke the best SS in baseball isn't in this game
Yes he is
