When Sohyang "covers" a song, it stops being a cover, and becomes unique, as she makes it her own. She sang this version of You Raise Me Up only once, during this show. What makes this performance even more incredible, if that's even possible, is that she performed it whilst recovering from pneumonia. Thank you for the reaction.

What amazes me more than her jaw-dropping performance, is that she did the rearrangement herself, at least most of it. She knew and felt the true meaning of this song and boldly reconstructed the whole song, practically rewrote it, so that it dramatically amplified the message of this song. The depth of her musical mind and the creativity to dream this kind of radical arrangement is just astounding. She's taking us on a spiritual journey..

Did you notice how she ingeniously transformed one of the stanzas into a bridge? I thought it was so tasteful, because this song tends to sound too redundant unless something like that is done - and by doing this she added so much colour, variety and nuance. Sohyang gave us so many unexpected surprises in this song that everyone thought they knew. I think Sohyang has the ability to make inspired arrangements to perfectly frame her incredibly beautiful voice.

This is Sohyang's masterpiece that really takes you on a spiritual journey. The arrangement is magnificent.

By the way I don't know the date of this performance, but she was younger, and even younger for "Bridge over Troubled Water", so you are not wrong calling her a girl or young lady - all of her career is out here for us to see.
She is 42 this year, i think. If you see her perform on a video she did this year, you will be amazed. She does not look much different - she dresses and wears her hair up and is just more mature in her demeanor. That's' it.

I like your reaction because I got the same thoughts part by part during the performance. She just kept giving so much dynamics and vocal highs and lows. I was enjoying the performance from start to end. Currently this song along with Bridge Over Troubled Waters are my repeat songs all week.

You tube audio cannot show her power vocal perfectly, need to watch it live.Because of the limitation of stupid televised audio system. They not only cut the huge resonances but sometimes even distort her voice.😠😠😠😠😡😡😡😡
And in 22.Jul 2020, I went to see her begin again korea ep 9.
Her mocrophone volume was reduced. I watched it there in live. She was sooooooo tiny and skinny (150~155cm ish and 40~43kg?)
But her volume was huuuuuuuge!!! She was requested reduced volume it and staffs and producers want to volume balanced with other singers.
Her rendition of Misty was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!
I heard her live performances( you raise me up-immortal song2 ver., You're the reason,Misty-Begin again korea ver.,Her own live concert). And all of them are just beyond amazing!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Her live is even much much better than UA-cam video!!!😢😢😢😭😭😭

She had pneumonia during this performance. Went to the hospital that afternoon or evening and was told by the DR. not to speak. She pushed ahead weak lungs and a bad throat. That highest note.toward the end, you can tell it was a tad thin for her. Again, being that sick she did a hell of a job.
