First off... I love you guys. I listen to most everything you guys put out. I just finished the Bravecities book. It was thought provoking, challenging, and helpful. Continue the great work. If I may make one suggestion. As a frequent podcast listener since I am on the move a lot, the volume levels are a real challenge. Perhaps having the mics closer, or different mics. This episode on podcast was difficult to hear Hugh with the volume all the way up. Just a little feedback. Keep up the great conversations its helping! I look forward to hearing Lance again!

What’s up James, appreciate the feedback and the kind words. As you can probably tell both Hugh and I are fairly A/V illiterate. But we’ll keep working to get the sound right. It actually sounds really good coming from my phone and computer but I agree that the mics can be a little finicky. Let us know if it gets any better

Good discussion on the "leader" card. I read Lance's book Unleader. Really unpacks this conundrum. Taylor's remarks about millennials not wanting to take leadership roles was surprising. Perhaps a better description of the leader role is "influencer" as many You Tubers call themselves. It removes the hierarchy denotation. Perhaps the best way for leaders to relate is not be intentional and not take their influence too seriously. In other words they shouldn't become a legend in their own minds. So as many look to them for "leadership," they should turn it back on their fans and help them to become what God has called them to.

Thanks for chiming in Susan, I love your thought that leaders should not take their influence too seriously. This could be misconstrued easily by many, but it’s spot on to me.
You should check out Friedman’s book A Failure of Nerve. It basically predicts the current state of leadership hesitancy that we’re seeing today. Here’s a quote from the book that was published in 2007 … - “We’re entering a regressive counter-evolutionary trend, in which the most dependent members of any organization set the agendas. And where adaptation is constantly toward weakness rather than strength, thus leveraging power toward the recalcitrant, the passive aggressive, and most anxious members of an institution, rather than toward the energetic, the visionary, the imaginative, or the motivated”

@@taylormccall9355 Thanks Taylor, I'm an avid book reader and currently reading Brave Cities also. I hope you continue Gray Pages. I like the informal discussion that you guys do and just plain love you guys for all your efforts in movement of mission, discipling and now with the eco system kingdom development....much easier task when we realize were just uncovering kingdom vs building it. Continue this great effort and as scripture says "don't be weary in well doing for in due season you will reap...." thanks again!
