For this discussion we may need to consider our status as Christian as dual citizens. We are world (according to the nation we live in) citizens and kingdom citizens. In Romans 13 Paul admonishes us to submit to governmental authority as all rulers are placed by God. Kingdom works through earthly rulers so its important to consider those running for office; to pray about who we should vote for. Trump who is perhaps a baby Christian, might be considered a Cyrus. Theres much written about that hypothesis (check Lance Walnau's book: God's Chaos Candidate. However is our hope placed in the that candidate to do what only kingdom can do. No and many Christian lean too heavily on this. It's important to consider Jesus' admonishments are as a prophet under the Old Covenant. But under the New Covenant Paul tells us to submit to government authority. Its really not a threat to the far reaching power of the kingdom of God.
