I rotate my facial hair by the season. Summer just a mustache. Fall low beard. Winter full beard. Spring goatee. The warmer the weather the less hair I like having. But I agree...just rocking the mustache or goatee makes me focus more on fitness.

I think it depends on the guys facial features whether facial hair can enhance their look or not objectively. I’ve seen friends get a lot of attention from girls with just only a goatee and with no facial hair at all. However My roommate gets more attention with his full beard. For me personally I went from no facial hair at all to just mustache and goatee now I get twice as much attention from higher quality girls.
I really think people place far too much emphasis on jawline. I think attraction and masculinity (if that’s what you believe a jawline represents) is an accumulation of things. You can categorise all of these under the umbrella of attraction: Skincare, hair care, physical fitness, scent and clothing style. Attraction is ultimately an accumulation of things, so don’t feel inadequate if you lack in something, you most likely make up for it elsewhere. 3 things that I learnt really worked for me were skincare, facial hair and working out. I’m naturally very skinny with no facial hair. I started working out consistently which helped me pack on some pounds. I now have an athletic build and always get more female attention when I’ve been working out. I researched and started using minoxidil to grow a light beard. I started off small by first connecting my sideburns, then I eventually moved to applying to to my whole beard. And lastly, I visited a dermatologist for help with skincare. So find what you can work on and work towards it. Understand that it’s a process and it will take time. I’m the type of person that gets addicted to results. So have patience!
Well one problem is that you’re taking it out of context. Obvious style, fitness, and hygiene, are all immensely important. But when people say the jawline is most important that’s not false or subjective it’s true. From a facial developmental perspective a weak jaw even with other positive features is going to be a big weakness. Having a well developed and healthy jawline is the most important factor in looks for men followed very closely by eye shape, high cheekbones, and dense eyebrows.
I read a study that having a stubble is the most attractive for women. Based on your facial anatomy, having a stubble would work best on you because of your good jawline. I think you would attract more women with a stubble than a goatee, but I can see that you're doing an experiment so let's see how that goes. Also, I find it interesting that you're really critical on your looks, when you mentioned your philtrum and chin it took me by surprise because I would've never noticed that would make you less attractive as you are an objectively attractive person already.

Welcome to the goatee club. I've always liked rocking the thin chin strap beard from the 00s myself. That gives guys a faux jawline if theirs is currently covered up by fat or whatever. shaved my beard & just kept the chin hair and stache couple months ago for the first time in like 2-3 years & realized I looked way younger(23) vs when i had it grown out I would attract older women and noticed other men take you more seriously as well.
