For Shadow Servant - orient your camera directly behind whichever way your shadow is coming out of you. The, left sword = move left, right sword = move right. This method makes the mechanic braindead.
just a tip on the tethered adds - they jump 5 times, which means they always end up left or right of the starting position. so if its west, it will always be north or south. the trick is, you dont have to watch them. you just have to watch and see if a double back happens. if no double back happens, its left or north in this example, if a double back happens, its right, or south in this example. This method never fails. Huzzah Math!
Is there enough time to watch for the add that gets larger and darker? If I lose track in normal, I always just watch for a second to see which add is growing into the shadow boss, and that's the "real" one.
@@nocturne2029 there probably is time for that if you are paying close enough attention, but keep in mind you're also parsing for the umbral orbs and reporting to your respective safe spot for those. not impossible but you only have so much mental bandwidth and being a second late can easily lead to things like baiting a tank orb onto your stack

My brain.. MY BRAIN.. I think my 2021 goal is going to be me working on my big boy brain to learn and retain how to do savage mode. Idk how you guys do it. I love raids but I just have no clue how you guys remember all these mechanics for all these different savage raids. Props to you guys.
Well it's not so much we remember them at first as much as we die 2 or 3 mechanics in a few times and just kinda keep butting our heads against the wall until it becomes muscle memory
Some of it is muscle memory, some of it is noticing the tells that are super obvious in retrospect. Mnemonics (f.e "head = where the shadow is, tail = where the shadow isn't" or the famous Larboard Left) help a lot.
All the fights are just a series of scripted mechanics. They (mostly) always happen in the same order and same manner. If you can learn a poem or a song you can learn how to do a 10 minute savage fight. Some tips to make it easier. Focus only on your role (e.g. if you're a dps don't worry about what the tank and heals have to do, not your concern). Also you can make notes based on the guide, altho I'd recommend doing the fights blind at the beginning of a tier and figuring out the mechanics on your own, it's much more fun and rewarding, plus better understanding of the fight. And just try it tbh. Most people that are scared of savage just never tried it, it's not as hard as it looks.
For ranged people: A more reliable way to dodge Shadowkeeper (clones teleport + cleave) is backwards. If everyone's hitting the boss while baiting clones, they will inevitable face/cleave inwards. Simply take a couple steps back and hope nobody faced towards you when the clones teleported.
The best way to handle the shadows your character gets is to face your camera so your shadow is always behind you. Then imagine the boss cleaving on that side, also if your shadow is in front or behind you, you always go E or W if it’s to the sides you always go N or S.
I prefer smooth brain strategies. If it's in his right hand, its CCW, if it's in his left hand, it's CW. I don't have to visualize anything and my smooth brain can handle it.
@@dr.fragrance3185 OMG thank you! This are the type of mechanics I struggle the most with... (I have a lot of trouble determining left from right when facing bosses and moving) but your method... I can easily remember uwu
i used to do the CCW/CW strat but its actually not that much of a "smooth brain strategy", cos you still need to check if its right or left cleave and then convert that into CCW and CW and while it did work out most of the times,i found it very stressful to quickly process all of that information. What i find way way easier is to adjust your camera to point into the same direction as the arrow of your shadow, then look if hes cleaving left or right. If its left, you wanna make sure your left half of the arrow is pointing outwards while your right side is pointing towards the boss. if its right, your right side of the arrow should point outwards while the left side is pointing towards the boss. This way, there is no need to think about CCW and CW and look where you need to go. its literally, turn your camera facing your arrow, left cleave = left side of arrow pointing outwards, right cleave = right side of arrow pointing outwards. I was literally so confused when someone explained it to me this way because I couldnt see the logics behind it at first, but then I just tried it out and I havent ever messed up this mechanic again.
For Shadow Servant: when you face towards the boss, your shadow should be on your side opposite of the boss’s sword hand. If he raises his sword with his right hand, your shadow should be on your left side when you face him at your cardinal point. It is that simple.
For shadows ive told my team to go to the side the head of the shadow is pointing at then move in the direction the boss raises his arm. I.e shadow head towards c go to c and move left if boss raises left hand
I go back and watch these videos from time to time for memories sake. I don't have a group that'd go back and do this synced nowadays. The only way I can do this content again is to unsync with a bunch of randos. This raid tier was my first, and will always have the biggest impact on me. Good times, good times.
One thing to note with the Shadow Servant + Umbral Orbs combo, the umbral orbs (even as seen in the video) do not always spawn in a diagonal line. They will spawn in a diagonal, a zig-zag, or a slightly rotated box (this is what appears in the video). This doesn't effect the order of the orbs (believe me I hoped it did and jotted down about 40 unique combinations before I realized it was just another layer of random complexity), but it can make it a little trickier to find your orb.
For the player shadows, the most braindead strat we found was to look at which direction the boss is cleaving, and position yourself in such a way as to point clockwise or anti clockwise. If the boss is cleaving left, you position your shadow in such as a way as to point clockwise, if she's cleaving right, you position anti clockwise.
At 4:05, its a right cleave but the shadows are clockwise. Did you maybe get them mixed up? Oh unless you consider the head of the arrow as the pointy end of the shadow.
Thanks for the guide. You might want to consider adding E#S to your titles so they show up on search. That way they catch everyone whos searching, no matter the terminology used. I didn't find yours at first!
To handle Shadow look at the head and look at the what the boss is cleaving if its right make sure your head is pointing clockwise if its left make you head point counterclockwise as a visual at 4:33 see the heads move clockwise as the boss is cleaving right

To be fair, past encounters have been worse. Remember "Thordan's Reign"? Or the "Copied Factory", where you had to figure out prime numbers on the fly? This is comparatively a walk in the park... in FF14. Which means the park is a lava field. And there are meteors falling all around. Which are really just molten rocks being thrown by Behemoths. Standing on their hind legs. With their swords at the ready.
I'm actually hoping that they bust out harder content with tougher bosses. Not saying that this savage tier/ultimates aren't difficult - oh no, quite the contrary as they're relatively difficult. But it's nice seeing the hardcore players getting content they actually enjoy. Even if it's only once in a while.

I dont seem to get how to actually SEE the safespot with implosions later on, at first its what he does with his arms, but at that phase he doesnt use his arms, what am i missing :P
Can I just offer something for Crystal players pugging this fight still? For 3:39, you don't have to force the whole group south to bait clones, you can just stay inside the boss facing inward and the clones will just cone in the very middle where the boss's black shadowy aura is, making everywhere else in the arena safe but the boss's middle section. No one loses uptime and there's not this weird "everyone run south to drop a clone and also face away" nonsense. Seeing pugs adopt this like it's the Bible and they're dying either from a clip or running too early into someone else's shadow.
The only question I have is for shadow warrior + umbral orbs are the relative positions assigned relative to as you face the camera to the safe wall or from it
Is it wrong or shadow servant plus giga slash can be called clock wise or counter cw depending on the side? If its on the left side use the shadow point as the direction and arrange clockwise rotation and if right slash ccw. I think that make this braindead.
ok for the shadows, does it even matter which way the boss is cleaving? as long as the "tail" of the shadow is pointing to the boss? for instance at the big diagram at 4:27, as long as the player puts their clone behind the boss, does it matter if it's slashing left or right?

Are tanks supposed to pop cool down for their purple Umbral Orb part? I don't see MTQ use cool down in this video, but I just die if I don't use cool down for the umbral orb as a tank.
In one clip you can see her use Sheltron, it's similar to what I do, if I don't need my other 2 shields I use either rampant or sheltron, but if I know I have to use my bigger shields later and that they'll be on cooldown I'll pop Sheltron for it. Don't have that many shields after all, still working out optimal mitigation
I dont even know why im watching your guides... its pretty clear to me that this is not for ppl that are learning..... ffs. There are a lot things that you're not covering
You say dodging shadows are confusing and didn’t even tell us how to dodge. Watched another guide and they made everything so easy to where I am confident I can clear this guide is too rushed and leaves out some important details.
we tried it by accident, yes a tank can take it by themselves, at least ours survived :D but he had to smash a lot of cooldowns, I gave him a shield as well, and the healers didn't have a great time with it either
@@myespada You can, but I wouldn't recommend it personally. In our static we have a GNB (our MT) and then me, a PLD (OT). Normally our GNB takes the 4 slashes with his Invul, then I provoke and take the big hit with normal cooldowns and Reprisal. Second TB I take the 4 Slashes with Invul and then our GNB provokes and takes the last hit. After that I don't take the 4 Slashes anymore since PLD is constantly crying over their shields being on Cooldown and it would just be stressful for Healers and me both lol Even if you Invul the TB, you get a Vulnerabilty Up, so it wouldn't really do anything for you or the party, the other tank would still have to provoke the Boss and you wouldn't have the Invul for later TB if you are the provoking OT. The 4 Slashes really pack a punch, so personally I believe that it's just a lot more relaxing for everyone to use your Invul for every 4 slashes you can use it for and then Reprisal the big hit to make it a little easier for Healers. If you are an PLD you might be able to use Divine Veil, too, even though I'd look at how much more useful Divine Veil would be for other mechanics :D Hope that kinda made sense xD
I prefer to invuln the 4x slash since IMO that hurts a lot more and the raid can mitigate the damage easier from the stack. 2 raids into this tier and I have no regrets at going back to WAR. Holmgang is OP.
your videos have all been very helpful but someone just told me the shadowkeeper shadows. the ones shadow cleave drops if you go near them at any point they will do a cleave on you apparantly? if so thats.. a very obvious thing to leave out? ive linked your e4s guide to my group and we are going to start practicing it.. is there anything not mentioned in that one also that will kill us leave us confused because it wasnt in the guide? ;s

I mean she did say? For the ones where you line up on the wall you assign groups (group 1 take leftmost orange etc). And for the others you assign the first set of orbs clockwise or counterclockwise to each group. I havent even cleared the fight but i still got that info from this video
@@gamingwalruslol7763 Obviously you haven't done the fight yet. Otherwise you would know that there are more than 5 different patterns of orbs than can occur.
@@MilkAndSugar16 ive done the fight a lot, clear? No. But ive gotten to enrage enough times. It doesnt matter how the orbs spawn thats why you assign left most and rightmost so no matter what configuration they spawn you always know which to take... shes not saying always run to the left for orbs or anything shes saying a certain group should always take the left MOST orb and thus meaning no matter which orientation the groups always know where to go. You say dodging shadows are confusing and didn’t even tell us how to dodge. Watched another guide and they made everything so easy to where I am confident I can clear this guide is too rushed and leaves out some important details.
Shitting out bad content for money
Can a tank take Darkness Unleash all by himself?
we tried it by accident, yes a tank can take it by themselves, at least ours survived :D but he had to smash a lot of cooldowns, I gave him a shield as well, and the healers didn't have a great time with it either
@@axessenter a question, please. Can it be invul?
@@myespada You can, but I wouldn't recommend it personally.
In our static we have a GNB (our MT) and then me, a PLD (OT). Normally our GNB takes the 4 slashes with his Invul, then I provoke and take the big hit with normal cooldowns and Reprisal. Second TB I take the 4 Slashes with Invul and then our GNB provokes and takes the last hit. After that I don't take the 4 Slashes anymore since PLD is constantly crying over their shields being on Cooldown and it would just be stressful for Healers and me both lol
Even if you Invul the TB, you get a Vulnerabilty Up, so it wouldn't really do anything for you or the party, the other tank would still have to provoke the Boss and you wouldn't have the Invul for later TB if you are the provoking OT. The 4 Slashes really pack a punch, so personally I believe that it's just a lot more relaxing for everyone to use your Invul for every 4 slashes you can use it for and then Reprisal the big hit to make it a little easier for Healers. If you are an PLD you might be able to use Divine Veil, too, even though I'd look at how much more useful Divine Veil would be for other mechanics :D
Hope that kinda made sense xD
I prefer to invuln the 4x slash since IMO that hurts a lot more and the raid can mitigate the damage easier from the stack. 2 raids into this tier and I have no regrets at going back to WAR. Holmgang is OP.
Soooo many mechanics...my brain
your videos have all been very helpful but someone just told me the shadowkeeper shadows. the ones shadow cleave drops if you go near them at any point they will do a cleave on you apparantly? if so thats.. a very obvious thing to leave out? ive linked your e4s guide to my group and we are going to start practicing it.. is there anything not mentioned in that one also that will kill us leave us confused because it wasnt in the guide? ;s
rap god
English is not my first language, but is just me that think that she raps? It is so fast haha.
dude are you kidding me? how did ANYONE figure this out?? THIS IS TOO MUCH
I hate this in normal
Normal has nothing on Savage. Savage is DREADFUL for this one
@@MiloKuroshiro Tbh I hate normal more than savage xD Savage is really not bad, especially without instant death mechanics so you can learn more mechanics in each pull. It's 100% scripted and organized. Normal is just a shitshow always xD
. . . my brain is fried ;--;
aaweosmw gtuidE!!!!!!
yoiur videos are freaking AWESOME
Totally cannot understand all these mechanica
Ahhhh, the actual good strat (i fcking hate everyone in pf who does akito, its so stupid and bad)
Skimming over details wtf
難度好似越黎越高
So I'm watching this guide to prep for my raid, and one thing to note is the boss is actually female, lol. Sorry I couldn't help myself.
So atleast Umbra is the most easiest 🥲
The only real difficulty of this fight is how to position yourself to soak the orbs. Too bad she skipped the explanation for these mechanics.
Same with the orbs with the wiggly lines, if your group knows "oh, we need to take the first set clockwise from us" no matter what orientation theyre in you can get to the orbs you need
@@gamingwalruslol7763 Lol xD What a salty child xD
I cant even figure out how to unlock it lol
You finish the Eden Story in Ahm Araeng and take the blue quest that pops up right next to it after finshing lol
I've reached enrage but we couldn't kill it cuz of all the damage down this fight isn't fun and the music is sick with ugly dog
too many cutting
what. the. FUCK
This guide complicates things more.
