  • This Timelapse shows two days of forging. It gives you a look at how we set up for a day of making axes and it gives a good sense of the flow of each heat; the movement between the forge, power hammers, hydraulic presses, and the shear. It also shows how we change the dies and tooling on the machines when we switch to a new heat, as well as how many steps we take every day!
I lead the forging while Zac assists. Trading off tasks enables me to train him constantly while always looking for ways to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality.

For all of those folks waiting for "Their Hoffmann"...If you don"t understand what it takes to create, and I will argue these heavy blades are created rather than manufactured, then this video just might give you some insight into their daily routine. Which would cripple 98% of the general population.
American made. By Friends and Neighbors.
    Yes. I'm down with that.

Why there is sand on the floor?

That's sawdust that is used to soak up oil on the floor. It makes good use of the sawdust that comes from axe handle production.

Wood dust on floor all over the blacksmithing workshop even under the furnace?🤣
Yeah, that's definitely not unnecessary fire hazard. Local fire department have to love your wise and smart decision.
