I keep 2 reusable shopping bags in the trunk of my car. I also keep a few in my coat closet near the front door. If you accumulate too many, just use the ones you don’t want to store and transport donations to your favorite charity. The bag becomes a donatable container. 😊 Here in Houston most grocery stores still provide plastic bags. If I receive any, I just use them in my small wastebaskets in my bathroom & bedroom. The key is to not let these build up and become clutter. Use them within the week of receiving. 😉
Soft reusable bags can be stored compactly. I am a hoarder. Because of that, I still have fresh polyethylene bags in a drawer from times when they were free. You need a stash to make useful combinations of things. Rigid reusable bags need more space, but better protect the goods. Photos bend into a rounded shape and take up more space. Blue color does indeed fade. No, not a phone. Is everything a phone these days in America? You need a thick flatbed scanner, which is forgiving of uneven surface and gives natural focus. Use a high resolution, relative to the details, maybe 300 ppi, and low compression to give room to de-dust and correct the photos at a later time (you won't have the patience to do it right away). Making personal copies of digital files is cheap and quick. Use the "cloud" only in addition as a secondary form of storage. You are giving up a lot of freedom by tying yourself to the "cloud" and maybe feed the AI. You can't even make the argument of "clutter" considering how physically small a flash memory device is.

I use plastic grocery bags that I get for garbage bags! It's awesome! I have not purchased plastic garbage bags for trash in decades!
I’m in Birmingham, Alabama and I rarely see paper bags in grocery stores, mostly plastic bags. I didn’t even realize they weren’t widely used
I keep reusable bags in my car so I don't forget them. I also fill them with unwanted things and take them to the Goodwill.
Plastic bags at every store in Central Florida.
