    How is waveforming working out for you in your home theater?

      Very good. I don’t have a proper setup and it’s still quite good.

    Anybody know what remote control that is? Looking to switch out my Harmony Elite for something that controls the Trinnov better.

    • @PoesAcoustics
      @PoesAcoustics  2 місяці тому

      It’s a Control4 remote. It’s the non-touch version of the new Halo series. I have the new Halo Touch myself. I am not a huge fan. But there is no denying that Control4 is more capable than Harmony. You won’t be able to program it on your own however. Not without going through training and becoming a dealer. It’s not meant as a user programmed solution.

    Any timeframe when Waveforming will be released to the public with Altitude processors? I know it’s this year, but would be nice to get a more defined ETA. Thanks!

    Matt, The subject you brought up about studio set-ups, the engineers work, the directors input is so widely variable it makes setting up a HT/2ch room to play back the audio properly is almost impossible. I guess everything in life is about compromises. Maybe the soundbar only folks have it right. Or better yet - no TV/HT at all. The great outdoors has a lot to offer.

      We are actually having conversations about this now. It’s an issue. But this has been a problem with music since the dawn of time. While we can’t know what the artistic intent really was, and while we can’t reproduce it exactly, we can still enjoy the art. I believe that is still true of home theater and movie content. It can still be enjoyed to a greater degree with this very high end gear.

      @@PoesAcoustics Thanks for all that you do! I may be wrong, but I'm thinking above all else our speaker placement must be nailed down by Dolby, some mixing engineers and you for good measure. Without a common requirement for speaker placement nothing will work very well, as most of us are finding out. I hope to make time to move all of my speakers to match the Dolby Studio layout this weekend and calibrate with Technodad's toolkit disk. I might also try to figure out how to use REW correctly this time. All the best to you and yours, Kevin

    Waveforming has been around in pro audio forever Matt. What new revalation exactly did these guys have?

    • @commanderrussels2612

      I have to say, as I've told Matt in the past, I haven't been all that impressed with wave forming. CEDIA it certainly was just downright not impressive, and then I listened to an EARLY demo room that I'd also like to cut some slack based on Matt's feedback in his videos. So, I'm still trying to hold on and keep an open mind, but... these rooms aren't earth shattering to me so far compared to a well designed room without waveforming.

    • @PoesAcoustics
      @PoesAcoustics  2 місяці тому +1

      There implementation is unique. Pro audio is not concerned with room modes. Waveforming is used to form beams that direct the planar waves for good coverage.
      The concept has never been applied at such low frequencies in a residential setting to address room modes. What they have done is developed an algorithm that can sample the room and develop the necessary filters to eliminate room modes completely. The end user needs minimal knowledge to make it work.

    • @PoesAcoustics
      @PoesAcoustics  2 місяці тому

      @@commanderrussels2612one is the problems with the demo rooms is that you are demoing the entire room. Not just one aspect of it.
      I think if you had the ability to setup your own room with subwoofers you know to be good for you, you would have a different opinion. There is simply no denying the effectiveness of the solution and typical means cannot achieve the same thing. You can make it so the bass response changes all over the room with normal systems. Then flip on Waveforming and there won’t be more than 1-2dB variation anywhere.
      Some complain about the bass being too tight to the point of sounding unnatural. Maybe true, but that is adjustable. So the consistency can be maintained but decay time lengthened.

    Matthew great video. Small suggestion...I know you take special interest in your clothing, but we need to find you a tailor and shirt maker if you want to dress that fancy. You've got a ton of shoulder bite on the jacket, it needs to get tailored. For the shirt, the buttons are the wrong height. Your second button is too high and third is too low, so the result is it either looks too constricting (or the ol' joke is the crackhead look, no bully), and the third is too low so if you open the second you'll look like you're in a Sopranos episode. Since you really seem like your fashion I'd get some custom shirts made, I don't know if you ever make it to London but you may like a place called Emma Willis if you are ever there, but I'm sure there are stuff in America. They are kinda expensive but I imagine you care enough to pay and also take care of the clothing enough where it will last. Again not trying to be mean and legit appreciate that you don't dress like a typical American and actually care what you are wearing. Your effort speaks volumes.

      That is a custom tailored Italian suit from Vincenzo Polumbo and the shirt is a custom tailored and hand made shirt from Belisario. Everything was tailored to my body.
      I appreciate the comments and care. My mom once made a comment about custom tailored Italian jeans I had on. I think sometimes pictures don’t do the clothing justice because I sit in a position that causes the clothing to sit in an unflattering way.

      @@PoesAcoustics Matt, You sure took that well. Proves that you are a fine gentleman.
      I wish I had the income to hire you to properly set up my nearly worthless 7.2.4 room. I'm honestly worn out from a dozen years of updating, tuning and worry about it's performance. Just when I think I have it close to good Satan whispers in my ear "Are your sure it's right?".

      @@PoesAcoustics Nice, yeah maybe it's how you're sitting. Of course you look great I'm just thinking your next level is custom tailored. I'd still check those shoulders when standing though and see if they need to adjust that. For sure play with the button height on your next shirt, I like them a bit lower if you see what I mean. It's kind of a fine balance. Again great video and look.
