The series kicks off with Tony travelling to Shreveport Louisiana to visit with his buddy and guitar legend James Burton. James’s resume reads like a who’s who of the music industry, from his famous bosses, Ricky Nelson, Elvis, John Denver, Frank Sinatra, and so many more. This Rock-N-Roll Hall of Famer opens up his studio and gives a very rare look into this legend’s world. He tells some amazing stories that many have never been told publicly before, while sharing memories of the great career he has had. - Розваги
Man, I love James Burton. I was so lucky to meet him one time as he was leaving a bowling alley in New Orleans. He was nice enough to stop and chat with me for a few minutes. What a guy. I hope to meet him again. Absolute legend
Thank you for watching 😊
Great story, riding around Hollywood with Eddie Cochran on the back of James’ Triumph. Ricky and Gene Vincent cruising alongside.
😊😊😊😊
That sounds so sketch today. Thats a lot of rock royalty barrleing down the road, of course no helmets. Thats just how we rolled back then.
To make a long story short as a kid I was raised in an ultra religious household an wasn’t allowed to listen to any secular music unless it was traditional gospel hymns etc. When I turned eighteen my dad told me that I could listen to what I wanted in the confines of my room if I kept the volume down. At the time it was Am/Fm stero with a cassette (which was broke) a record player. With money I got from grass cutting I went to flea markets an bought old records. Never forget, the first album I got was James Burton and Ralph Mooney Corn Picking and Slick Sliding. Had no idea who Burton was but I loved it. I started learning those licks on my guitar. Started getting the early Merle Haggard stuff an learned all the stuff James did on those albums. To this day I still use all that in my playing. Later I was turned on to other great players in the jazz, an Western Swing/ country genres but for me it all started with James Burton.
I don't think that one can overstate, or even state adequately at all, how influential James Burton is will continue to be to serious guitarists. The man is a living legend and a national treasure.
On a personal note, thank you for being sponsored by guitars4vets. As one with PTSD myself, I can say that guitars DO help.
Thank you for your service and we will auctioning off a guitar at the end of season 1 amd all the proceeds will go to Guitars 4 Vets. All please support the James Burton Foundation. They help getting veterans guitars as well.
Any guitarist ,regardless of the genre of music they are interested in.Know who this living legend is.James Burton paved the path for many guitar picking players .If you don,t ,you should. He has played with many famous musicians ,past and present.
Thank you for watching
Ran into James in front of the Memphis Marriott before the "Elvis Lives" concert in 2002. He was so gracious and down to earth.
Thank you for watching
this man was responsible for influencing me to enjoy a lifetime playing guitar!
Thank you for watching
He toured with John Denver when JD came to Chile in 1985....met him...nice,humble and talented!!! Glad to see him so well👍
When James was on tour with Elvis Costello, he allowed me to hold the ring & necklace that You Elvis Presley gave him.
Thank you for watching
James wife shows her true self by what she has pinned to her jacket God bless you all James is a true guitar legend .
She is so sweet!!!
What legends the Burtons are and good a pick for your first episode
Thank you 😊
He is a beast: played the solo on Hello Mary Lou (Goodbye Heart), handpicked by Elvis as his touring guitarist, Invented Chicken Pickin', played lead on the early Merle Haggard songs like Mamma Tried, Lonesome Fugitive, etc. not to mention playing for likely thousands of artists, including the Jackson Five.
Thank you for watching 😊
Met him a few years back. Just as nice and humble as he seems here.
😊😊😊😊
What an extraordinary life James has lived. He definitely lived the kind of life most men only dream of.
James is 85 this year and incredibly well spoken and friendly man. When he played "Love Me Tender" solo a few years ago, I had Goose bumps. Like listening to an old friend again, you're my hero.
Thank you for watching, Jame's is a Legend!!!
Gotta be top 10, maybe even closer to top 5. James Burton IS that guy
Yes he is 😊
Fantastic to see James looking so well again, what a legend. This is a great interview to watch

Rick Nelson is my favorite artist. James and Rick were a great team
I love that quote too! No disrespect intended to the great Ricky Nelson.
🎸😁😎😻
😊😊😊😊
I only started playing guitar after hearing James Burton playing with Elvis Presley, I even bought the personalized red guitar, phenomenal tone Brazil 🇧🇷
Saw him playing his pink paisley Fender Telecaster with Elvis back in 1970 during Elvis's summer residency at The International Hotel.I was 12.Fantadtic.
Iconic performances like that stay with a person
I have known JB in 2011. Simply a Legend ! MV
Yeah, I am so honored that he did this for me
Awesome interview. What a fantastic humble man. Not afraid to share his faith in God. This man knows exactly where his talent comes from and is thankful to God for his talent and career
Thank you for noticing and thank you for watching 😊
Just listened to "funny how time slips away" recorded by elvis and instantly became a fan of this man.
Excellent interview! Thank you for including his dear wife - she is a jewel!
😊😊😊😊
Thoroughly enjoyed this! James has outlived so many great people that the younger generation probably has no idea who this man is and what he has contributed to Music. James is from a generation when Giants actually walked the Earth and those days are long gone. I had the good fortune of seeing him perform live with Jerry Lee Lewis in the Washington DC area back in the mid-1990s and it was incredible. not only can he play just about any style I guess but he plays it with brilliance and that’s what separates him from all the other great guitar players in my opinion. Rolling Stone missed it by a long shot not placing this giant at number one.
I agree!!! Thank you for watching 😊
WOW......what an incredible marriage I'm just so,so happy for both of you that's true ❤ you are a true supportive wife as with husband your marriage just run tingle of happiness down my spine kudos and long jevitey to both of you ❤❤❤❤❤
They are very special people ❤ Thank you for watching 😊
OUTSTANDING, TONY!!! Absolutely outstanding!!!!
Thank you for watching 😊
Awesome Story from the beginning to the end !!
Thank you 😊
A legend!
I remember in my youth watching Ozzie and Harriet and concentrating on his playing. Always smiling and appeared to be loving what he was doing!
I remember when I was teaching elementary school coming across an LP titled Guitars which was to be used when discussing music with the students and he was mentioned.
It was published in 1973 by the standard oil company of California.
On One side of the double album they spend over seven minutes discussing him and playing portions of his songs, including Susie Q. They have a photo of him on the back as well along with the teachers guide inside and drawings showing the different types of guitars.
I still have it👍
Thank you for watching, more episodes coming soon 😊
James is incredible. What a kind humble man. I just can’t believe all the guitars he has. It blows me away..
Oh there were more (guitars) in the back that we didn't show. 😂😂😂😂
@@TonyPaskoconsultingReally?! OMG, this doc is “incomplete,” eh :-)
Thank you for posting this, I’ve really enjoyed this interview.
James Burton Guitar Legend. Thank you, James, for your contribution to humanity and especially to the guitar.
James and Louise are the greatest!!!
Epic. Legendary. Historic. ❤❤❤
Thank you ❤
James is not just a great musician but an humble men, I had the pleasure and the honor to chat with him few times and I wish that maybe one day I'll meet him...maybe. He is a legend and a great guitar player with his recognisable sound and touch. Ciao James! ;)
Yes he is, Thank you for watching
Speaking of Elvis Costello, he did some shows in NYC and one night was the presley nite. And he had Presleys back up band. And I was a major label artist at the time blah blah so I got to go backstage.... and... met James Burton. I remember the necklace.
That's a cool Backstage Pass story!!! Thank you for watching
Great show Tony! James is THE guitar player that I first heard backing Ricky Nelson when I was 12 or 13 and his playing made me pay attention. A perfect stylist for any song and I think that has to do with his southern roots. I had no idea of all the recordings he was on. When ya hot..ya hot!
I know he's the history of Rock-n-Roll wrapped into one guy 😊
Wish you great health and happiness Mr James Burton. You Sir are a Legend 😊😊😊😊😂😂😂
😊😊😊😊
So cool. Love the part with Mrs. Burton talking about how Elvis was a normal human being & man of faith. Realizing a “superstar” is humble enough accept there is something bigger than them (& all of us), says a lot about one’s character. Outstanding content. 🤘🏼
Yes, that is a perspective of Elvis you never hear about
Play It James You Are The Best
He sure is!!! 😊
Loved the interview . I was 12 when i started playing James and Ricky was my hero. Now im 70 and still think he is my hero
Thank you for watching 😊
I was lucky enough to meet him at a gig 15 years ago. He's the original in many ways and is the greatest in all ways when it comes to rock and roll, country blues, country rock and tasteful inventive playing.
You are absolutely right ✅
I met Elvis backstage three months before he passed. Wasnt looking well but that voice never failed!
My guitar hero.
😊😊😊😊
This guy plays like nobody else..james and Johnny winter my favorites.
Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you for posting this-much appreciated!
😊😊😊😊
One of the best of all times as well as being very humble!
Thank you for watching 😊
What master of guitar , taste , tone and phrasing ......A national treasure
He sure is!!!
This is the most I’ve taken the time to hear James speak, and his voice and cadence, even some mannerisms reminded me of someone else. Took me a minute, but very similar to Greg Allman, although James has a better vocabulary.
Thank you for watching 😊
Watching and subbed. Looking forward to what’s next. 👍
Merci merci merci, incroyable émission. Thanks 🙌🙌
Thank you for watching 😊
I used to watch the Ozzie and Harriot, just to see Ricky Nelson and his band. I loved to see James and his tele and the way they all dressed.
Those were great times and great performances
The Man The Myth The Legend! The Master of Telecaster !
You are absolutely right ✅
I'm not from States and I don't know this man
But i have heard Roy Buchanan as Tele player , which I like him pretty much
I have to hear Mr James Burton
Great interview! Having his wife on as well made this "The Best" James Burton Documentary I've ever seen!
I had to have Louise on, cuz without her it's only half the story
This is probably the best interview I’ve ever seen. I love what his wife adds to the story.
A true family of faith.
James has had some serious health issues in the last couple years. So glad he is doing well.
You can judge a man by those who consider him a friend!🎸
This was awesome!
Thank you for watching, please follow us, like & share.
Thank you Tony for this wonderful video. I especially love all the references to Jesus, our Savior. ......Russell D.
Thank you for watching
Legend!
Yes he is!!!
Such a wonderful show, , Wow, James Burton, , AMAZING how many great Artists he has played Guitar with, , for SO MANY Years! That man has such a sharp memory, , “Oh yeah been working with Fender since 1955” , , I am a huge Emmylou and Gram Parsons fan, , His TONE is indeed all in his FINGERS, , no surprise when he said he did’nt need a lot of effects, , that TELE and that Fender Twin were all he needed. So good to have met you Tony, , you have great spirit of kindness as a Host. Best of luck with your show.
Thank you buddy, I appreciate you
Mr. Tony, You also have excellent interviewing skills and a clearly encyclopedic knowledge of music. You don’t step on or interrupt your subjects which is so rare. Thanks again, deeply appreciated!
I've met him once, he gave the impression of being a strong person, his grip was strong and the sound he made through a Twin was mindbogglingly big. We didn't get to talt about Jesus, but I would have loved that. He talked a little about a book he wrote. Great memory.
Great story, they can really play.
He's a wonderful person and I had a ball spending the day filming with him 😊
What an amazing man,and his wife is a sweet heart, what a life he's had truly gifted by God himself,ROCK ON Mr BURTON

Absolutely. That made it for me too.
James Is A Dear Friend! He Played Lead Guitar For Ricky Nelson, The Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison And Elvis! He Is Rock And Roll! He Goes Way Farther Back Than The Beatles Or Rolling Stones! He Is Their Grandfather!!
Absolutely!!! Well said 😊
What an icon of music. Great interview!
Thank you 😊
I had the great pleasure of playing alongside Mr.James Burton and 1,000+guitarist on August 22, 2009. It was at the legendary Shreveport Auditorium in Shreveport Louisiana! We were trying to break the Guiness World Record of most guitarist playing a song in one setting! We didn't achieve it but what a moment, what a day I'll never forget!
I remember that!!! Thank you for watching
@@TonyPaskoconsulting Yes sir! Many of us ladies and gentlemen flew in from all around the USA, Canada, México and even Europe! Thank you for posting the great interview with James and his wife! Greetings from Burbank, California!
Love this. So glad to see him well again. Reminds me of the times I've been fortunate to meet him, and spend some one on one time with him. So humble and genuine. My idol.
He's such an inspiration 😊
I can’t tell you how this blesses me to see James doing so well! What a powerful testimony of God’s goodness! I’ve been an Elvis fan since 1973 at age 4, and started playing guitar at age 6 because I wanted to be like Elvis. But as I got older, I became more aware of Scotty Moore and even more, the TCB Band, especially James’s flawless playing. I played off and on for years but would always get discouraged and quit playing for years. But in 2015, I had a kidney removed due to cancer, and in 2016, I lost my daughter (our only child), so I feel like a kindred spirit to James and his wife. I have recently started playing and collecting guitars as a hobby and I’m determined to never quit again. They have become my “babies”. I listen to Elvis every day, particularly his live stuff and other works from the early ‘70’s. I never get tired of listening to it (although my wife does 😂) and I never get tired of hearing the magic that happens every time I hear Elvis say “play it James”! James is such an amazingly humble and gifted man and he is my guitar hero! I’ll be 55 this year and still have a few bucket list guitars I’d love to have, one of them being either a pink paisley Telecaster like James played with Elvis or a James Burton signature Telecaster (can’t decide between blue or red but love both). May God bless James and his wife with many more happy music-filled years! He is an absolute treasure!
Thank you for watching
Amen for your testimony, sir!
'Burning Love' rocks
Well, you’re a gift to this world too and you matter just as much as James. It sounds like music is a wonderful (but at times frustrating) place to loose yourself in peace and joy. Best wishes on your ongoing journey and I hope you don’t put off getting those guitarS.
Respectfully sir, I have never seen a hearse pulling a U-Haul ;-)
If you want to check out a James Burton protégée go to Elvis medley live with Backdraft and he’s using a James look alike Tele from the Elvis days
Very cool!!! Thanks for watching
This was AWESOME!!! Thank you Tony!!! Seriously......mind blown here.
Thank you so much ❤
The one and only. He inspired me to pick up the electric guitar 10 years ago and still inspires me to pick it up today
Thank you for tuning in!!!
Absolutely love the Burtons!

Hello James. I have always wanted to send you a message but wasn't sure if you would get it. I just wanted to let you know how much you inspired me when I was 13 years old in 1973. I started playing the guitar when I was eleven years old. I'm now 62 and a half. Lol. It was in April of 1973 when Elvis Ahola from Hawaii came on. I could barely see it on our TV but the sound was perfect. When you played Johnny B. Goode I couldn't believe the way you played it. I had learned it in the Chuck Berry style. I was hooked with the double stops you played and the sounds were so incredible. I went on to play professionally in Nashville and know a lot of the same players as you. That was a long time ago. I now live in Sanford NC. My favorite guitar players are Vince Gill, Brent Mason, Gregg Galbraith, Albert Lee, and Rod Riley. You were my biggest influence though. I always wanted to let you know that. There are thousands of people you never met like me but you had the biggest impact on my guitar licks. I play a Tele EMG's silver active pickups with a B-bender as well. Thanks for the great memories, James. Sincerely Rick G. Stone Tictok= musicbyrickstone
