I work as a capital markets operations specialist 3. And I do third-party Trading so I definitely get it. I've been in this role for one month and I noticed that it's not what I thought it was. The team doesn't engage with each other everyone does their work silently(I work remotely), no one uses the team chat and when I do it's idle. So the department is very dry and I'm like no I need better LOL.
I am a buyside market risk analyst, I think hedge fund industry is interesting and they run more sophisticated strategies but ultimately seems to lose money after fees. That being said its often a great learning experience to work at one, many of the most competant people I work with came from hedge funds, and ofc you will probably make more money which is always nice.
Are banks able to mitigate risk by negotiating with large depositors to not be able to withdraw their funds so quickly that they cause the bank to become insolvent?

That’s a good question! Not too sure myself unfortunately. You would think they’d have used that tactic during this past crisis so I’m not sure 😂

Did you not want to transition into a front office role when moving to a hedge fund?
Ideally I did but it’s quite difficult to do so, at least early on in one’s career. Hopefully that’ll come later in the character arc 😂
