yeah, I lost to him in the last round of group play and kind of expected to be knocked out because of it. But how happy he was about it made me not feel as bad about being knocked out (which I then wasn't but still) :)
The same thing was said for the Oktoberfest top 4 they used decks they were a lot more familiar with rather than the overall stronger decks. Seeing a Kaalia deck making it to top 4 really got me excited and put that thought into my head.
@@Drow333Grey no. Unsure if joking. Oktoberfest was a series of Online Tournaments organized on Cockatrice (a F2P unofficial mtg program), including a cedh tournament.
@@billyh1822 he never took it out he was never allowed to play with it. But he plays with it now. The list in the link is how his deck looked like during the tournament. If you wanna find a replacemenet for hullbreacher look at that list for inspiration.
Congratulations on the big win Playm! Tournament magic is always exciting. But let me switch the topic. In my humble and isolated opinion, i am thinking that Thrasios is not overly powerful and he "kinda" is pretty balanced. But everytime i am trying to brew a deck i am find myself asking: "How is that better or more relevant than 4 color Thrasios?". Thrasios on his own is fine, but 4 color thrasios is just too good in my opinion. I dont think it threatens the format in any way, but 4C Thrasios becomes really hard to beat from a deckbuilders perspective.
What do you mean? That thrasios is just the auto selected commander whenever you build decks? Well I have had that feeling to once. But now I think we have more options. Kenrith and kraum have really proven to be great options instead of thrasios. ANd some commanders bring other strange and interesting options as commander making thrasios no longer the auto selected commander choice I would say.
@@cedhtv I need to emphasize, this is just my gut feeling. But yes, i think you got me right. He is just too efficient while giving you a 4 Color option. Anyhow, just as you said, there are plenty more options nowadays. But a grain of salt remains. Love what you do, keep up the good work :D
I woulden't Go Maralen as a commander. You have to cast both opposition agent and maralen same turn. You don't wanna pass turn with a maralen in play and give away a vamp tutor.
There's also basically zero synergy with Akiri, (although he did mention adding hullbreacher) Dockside is the only treasure maker and because dockside is so prominent, it's dangerous to leave the treasures lying around to make akiri a viable threat.
He mentioned LED/Witness/Emiel, but as far as I can tell this nets zero mana. Is this assuming you have training grounds in play, or is there something I'm missing?
@@cedhtv Okay, thanks for clarifying. With all these overlapping combo pieces that are coming to the fore, do you think it's possible to just jam the densest web of interconnected combos into Kenrith and win through a kind of brute force approach?
i remember how excited playm was when he got to day 2, he came into our call and was very happy, good job, and happy to hear the breakdown!!

Wait a minute... They play Magic tournaments at the Oktoberfest? 😧

Would love to watch more deck techs videos, especially with unusual/favourite commanders you mention
Just wondering, how come he doesn't play hullbreacher
It wasen't legal in the timetwisted tournament when it took place. He is playing it now.
Can I ask what he took out for hullbreacher?

Great content. Would love to see deck tech for blue farm or freeze thief.
Hmmm might happen. Will add it to my brainstorm folder.
What does he play in mono black deck? Sidisi turbo naus or k'rrik?
Can Maralen sit at the table of monoblack tier general now that opposition agent got printed?

what is the upside in using bruise tahr instead of akiri?
lifegain and neoforms into seedborn

@@MasterDecoy1W I have tried that. It's not quite cEDH, fun tho!
