Great video. I'm a bus operator but want to become a train operator someday. I used to take the 2/5 trains almost everyday before 2019 so I'm familiar with the curves and signaling. But I've always hated those timers between 86th and 96th, I feel like it slows down express trains too early. I would have them slow down a few hundred feet later, probably around the abandoned 91st street station.
We will first like to thank you for your service to New York City. Every time someone gets on your bus, they are trusting you with their life and just for that reason alone, you deserve respect so thank you; it would be an honor for you to get your dream someday. As for your suggestions, you make some extremely valid points and as we understand the reason for the timers slightly, we imagine that they have their reasoning for having them there. We can only hope they do get the chance to look into them and see how they can speed them up eventually; maybe they’ll see your comment and respond themselves because it’s a great suggestion.
I last lived in New York city in 1995. I remember riding the 2 Train in Manhattan up to West Farms Square in the BX. The "Red Birds" were flying down the Express Tracks! Got home in no time!
Living in the Bronx all of those years, I never road the 2/5 Trains past West Farms Square. It was my 1st time watching it go all the way to 241st street. It was awesome! Also, Is that the Train Yard near the 180th street station? Someone let me know. Thanks!

Hi guys it’s Kevin again thank you so much for letting us experience the 2 train to last stop 241 st I enjoyed it so much. The one I like the most when it was 96 st and we were going way down you can see where the 1 train continues way up to broadway. And also I love the turn between 135 st on the 2 line also I want to ask you a question? So many lines you been giving us in your channel which is one is your favorite so far and why? And if you can’t pick a favorite can you tell us which ride you frequently do. I’m putting to the spotlight. Lol great job anyway well done to the MTA Employees it’s so much respect 🫡 to them and I hope you guys have a great day sincerely your subscriber Kevin Patino
Thank you Kevin for your kind words and for pointing out the cool things you noticed about this line/video. As it relates to your question, it is truly very hard to answer your question but since we are speaking about the videos we have posted so far, we will have to go with the 7 express, as we truly get to hear the trains motors really go to work; we find it truly spectacular. Thanks for giving credit to the employees and we only hope that others follow in your footsteps as it is because of them that this city keeps moving.
@@wtaenycI’m looking forward to when you make a return run on this route in midday cause you never know what to expect around you in each run. The 2 train. Honestly the 2 is the 2nd worst IRT line (first worst is the 5) but it doesn’t mean it’s a bad line. The 2 has the longest irt line and has the most stops in any A-Division line there. And during late nights, it has the most stops out of any nyc subway line. Good work WTAE! Have a blessed day!!
You wanna know what's definitely missing right now is the 8 Thrid Avenue Elevated line. The 8 Thrid Avenue Elevated line definitely needs to come back I'm keeping it 100% real.
An interesting fact is that the Flatbush Ave. station for the 2 and 5 trains is the only terminus station in the NYC subway system that does not have a center platform. It only has regular side platforms. The reason is that that station was not intended to be a terminus station but ended up being one due to budget issues. Unfortunately you can’t see the side platforms in this video due to the view from the front of the first car.
Thank you so much for sharing that information. We are sure baby didn’t know this and would have loved to see how far south they would have taken the system. Let’s see if it’ll ever be something in the future that’ll be considered as improvements continue to take place.
0:26 Wow! So many time I travelled from from Brooklyn College / Flatbush avenue on 2 and 5 trains. But since R142s don't have RFWs I've never seen something like this!
Great to know videos like these are still up on UA-cam. I don’t know what happened but Morgan Lines (another youtuber who posted front video povs of the MTA Subway) may have got banned from UA-cam or just simply left, but this channel comes in clutch!
Here is a random thing I wanted to share. My plans for the Eastern Parkway Line 2 3 4 5 - The 2 train and the 4 trains go express, passing stops and stopping at main centers, such as Atlantic Avenue Barclays, etc. - The 3 train and the 5 train go local, stopping at every local stop and also the main centers as described in the 2 and 4 express plan. - More stops, local stops…etc.. - CBTC. Like the Queens Boulevard Line and the Flushing Line. Basically R142’s everywhere, and better service. Yes, that is it. Maybe more, but just ask if you want more stuff like this.
The nostalgic part for me is when the 2 train goes above Westchester Avenue after 3rd Avenue - 149th Street. I remember driving under there with my parents as a kid very often back in like 2010 or 2011. At the same time, I would see buses like the New Flyer D60HF and the Orion VII CNG. I would ride it at Jackson Avenue. I still ride the 2 sometimes around that area, but it feels so nostalgic to just see the 2 train on a sunny day. It really hits hard.
Thanks for sharing this touching comment. It's truly humbling to know that our video can bring back this lovely memory; nostalgic indeed. Maximum respect to you and your family and we thank you again.

I used to take this ride twice a day from 72nd and Broadway up to Burke Ave and back at the end of the day. The one thing I really miss is the bacon and egg on a roll one can get in NYC but can't find most other places.
I remember having seen the R17s back in E.180 yard, as a kid. I never did like them though. . . And the 110a, when it came out. As always, awesome shot! Can't wait to see what you guys will do next!
@@metroII lol, I guess because your mom or dad would've been on you, in fact, I remember being on that train coming from 180 street station, and there were kids outside near some red brick apartments throwing rocks as the train making a slow turn, but judging by your picture, you would've been older

oh man! i WISH somebody wouldve recorded this bronx trip back in the 70s & 80s. but its understood. back then nobody dared to ride the 2 train with "fancy equipment" like the camcorder. the BX was hella dangerous back then. 😭
Rode this line both as the 3 train (and early mornings as the 4) back when I was going to school in Brooklyn and later as the 2 (never rode it as the 5). This was in the early 1980's when middays, the 4/5 terminated at Atlantic Avenue.

Always wondered since the late 70's (when I began to take note) why they run the express slower when going thru Christopher St. Its one of the mysteries of life .🤠
It’s an honor to bring you back to those memories you shared. It’s a question that we will all love if they could answer for sure as it would be more fun if it was able to maintain the high speeds. Maybe we’ll design a faster system one day after we work on getting a cleaner one lol.
Flatbush Avenue station was not intended to be the terminal of the Nostrand Avenue line. 56 years after the station opened, it gained a sister station when Nishi-Takashimadaira station opened on the Toei Mita Line in Tokyo. Original plans called for the line to be extended to Wakoshi station in Saitama, but the extension was canceled in the late 1970s due to the construction of an extension of the Yurakucho Line there.

Cool "Nostalgia" that these modern tech-trains use the same air horns that the classic SMEE trains of the 1960's-70's used. Also interesting that this line is still using jointed rail instead of continuous welded rail.
Great observation as it relates to the air horn and that’s good that we still have something of “old” even with the newer model trains. We only wish the rfw was one of the similar features. As it relates to the rail, we can assume that it’s something that will come in the coming days.
@@wtaenyc Sadly, it's doubtful the railfan window, or being able to stand at the front door looking ahead as the train rolls on the MTA will make a comeback. One of the issues for Train Operators, since the 1930's, has been the tiny compartment. Hence, why this section is now "full width". On the plus side it is much more comfortable and less claustrophobic for train operators.
Touché. We have to agree with you being that some of us know exactly what you’re speaking of. We get why the RFW window itself can’t return so we can only wish that maybe one day, they’ll have a camera out front (kinda like this) and have small screens throughout the train, showing the front, that way no matter where you sit, you can still look up and enjoy the ride.
I remember when the 2 line was known as the Beast (nickname) from the East going to New Lots Ave in Brooklyn b4 the swap change with 3 and 4 lines in 1983.

Also north of E 180 St there is no transfer to the (5) train. This is not the (5) Line over here, this is the (2) Line by itself after E 180 St. The (5) Line runs along Esplanade and the Dyre Av Line towards Eastchester-Dyre Av. So if u put a (5) train transfer at Pelham Pkwy, Gun Hill Rd or 233 St, that’s wrong too cause this is the (2) Line
We appreciate your support and love how much you are willing to help. It’s amazing that you are taking the time to point out all of the “mistakes” that you have seen; we will definitely be sure to be more on point next time. The reason we placed the transfer to the 5 is because the 5 does run to Nereid Av at times so the transfer is available. We understand that the transfer isn’t available at all times but it is possible. Another reason we added the transfer was so folks could also see the “accessible stations” for those stops that are accessible ♿️; we hope that makes sense to you and also hope that you are still able to enjoy the video despite these “errors,” and continue to appreciate all the hard work we are doing.

We are honored to bring you back a taste of home.
We would get off at Winthrop to visit our Grandparents on Hawthorne Street. Great memories! A long time ago!!
Love it. Hope y’all do the 5 line next

We hope it was worth the wait.

Thank you so much; truly means a lot.
I watched this whole thing at once while talking to a friend. What a beautiful and relaxing video. Thank you so much.
…and thank you for sharing. Honored to know that you were able to enjoy the experience and we look forward to your continued support 🫡🫡
There's probably a reason why they don't follow your suggestion.

Thanks!
Those red birds were a thing of beauty back then. They are truly missed
Great observation. It is a yard that you see and it’s an honor that you’re able to experience a ride past your West Farms stop; it’s truly an honor.
The 142s still fly.
These RedBirds Was Replaced by the new R142 so you guys used ro ride these fun trains but many of you guys are sad because The RedBirds Was replaced by the R142 so the people miss the Redbirds mta...

And they only line to meet up, split, then meet up again

Here is a random thing I wanted to share.
My plans for the Eastern Parkway Line 2 3 4 5
- The 2 train and the 4 trains go express, passing stops and stopping at main centers, such as Atlantic Avenue Barclays, etc.
Thank you for sharing this. It’s always interesting to hear how others would make changes had they been in a position to influence changes.

19:44 With how the tunnels are laid out here, I'm pretty sure those are the IRT express tracks and not the BMT Brighton Line tracks to the left.
Great observation

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing this as we are sure that like us, not a lot of folks knew this.
It's strange that the IRT never built any trailing tracks or sidings for that branch.
hiw do you guys even get that camera on the bottom of the train its perfect I'm looking forward to your team keeping up the good work. this is amazing please don't ever stop this channel
Thank you so much for your support and we hope we can continue to earn it. We are a fortunate team that, not only has the resources, but also the members that are willing to bring awareness to the amazing system and workers behind keeping the system moving.
I just found this video and Man this is so cool.
We are honored that you like it.

It is a rather interesting open space, seems like it was for another track
I can imagine riding the 2 train from Flatbush Ave to 241st Street will take about almost 2 hours I consider that’s a long route and maybe about a little over 2 and half hours during late night hours when the train runs local the whole entire route (meaning local stops in Manhattan)
It is one of the longest routes in the system at late night. What a trip this train goes through and we are thankful for the service it gives NYC.
Hey I would love to see the D train full from Norwood-205 St to Coney
And can we have the B train from Bedford Pk Blvd to Brighton?
The D line was done already as you wanted.
Edit: Here it is.

Thank you for sharing this
We hope you’re able to watch the D train video you’re referring to. Let us know how you like it.
@@wtaenyc Eventually you’ll need to do an updated version because each ride that you do feels different each time. It provides a different experience with who is around you in terms of trains
