Helicopter air to air refueling with an AK ANG HC-130 in Alaska.
Camera: Sony Action Cam 1080p/60FPS
Location: Alaska
Aircraft: USAF HH-60G Pave Hawk, USAF HC-130 "King"
That looks infinitely more difficult than a jet refueling.
i think the same
@@LJMaviacionffaa Might want to rethink that. Keep in mind this is a HELICOPTER... the other is a plane.
@BaTtLeFiElD ThReELMG "this should be funny". I'd love to explain why I personally think so, but not with that attitude. So goodbye lol.
@BaTtLeFiElD ThReELMG you're* and too* ... goodness man. Also, have you ever flown fixed wing or rotor craft?
BaTtLeFiElD ThReELMG - No really, what’s with the attitude? Going around acting like you’re bigger than others in a UA-cam comment section gives meaning to your life? Welp, same sentence I mentioned earlier, you might want to rethink your life ;). Anyhow, I’m out. Have a good one!
Sweet Jesus this gave me a lot of anxiety! Incredible skills, 10/10
Hahahaha... It never gets less insane!
Amazing. That looks quite hard work! I was fortunate enough to go air to air refuelling with the RAF a couple of years ago. We had Typhoons alongside.....some newbies, some clearly old hands. Incredible and really challenging, but with rotors.....that adds something just a tad more dynamic to the whole situation!! Great post, thanks.
This guys videos are badass!!!
Thank you!
your videos are extremly relaxing
WOW! The boom really starts to shake when you get in the wash, that's skill right there! Jet pilots just get rammed all the time.
Thanks for this amazing video.
Looking like the opening to the dark knight rises
Merica!
awesome video
Awesome!
Mute the sound and open another tab on youtube and play John Paul Young - Love Is In The Air thank me later :)
dude
how did you even think of such an amazing idea
очень круто молодцы парни
Perfect!
what a view tho
Outstanding video. You should film a tanker low simulated single engine AR...do they still do that?
Yep!
That looks way harder to complete than a jet refueling.
Pog
💖💖💖💪💪💪💪💪👏👏👏👏👏I'm from saoth Yemen i love you we want more please 💖💖
I don't see how this would be more effective then refueling on an airbase. Sure if you had to exceed the range of your aircraft to reach a specific target then this would certainly be useful. But otherwise...eh...
Ни хера себе, а что так можно было !?
Первый раз вижу дозаправку вертолетов. Нууу блин круто!
I LOVE YOU

At how many kts this is performed?
About 120
Babe, keep still, I can't get it in.
Jesus Christ just watching this almost gave me a panic attack
meh
Thats gotta be like sex while extremely drunk
*WRONG HOLE WRONG HOLE*
@@WyvernApalis good thing that he have only one hole
Trying to have sex with a donut rolling down the road.
Comrade Stalin they tend to get really pissed when you do that too
Lol
Yeah, the mid-air refuelling was amazing. But can we appreciate how beautiful and elegant Alaska is? Just wow.
Is this how V-22 ospreys are made?
You sir, have an extremely cool job and it’s videos like these that keep me motivated to achieve this too!
Good grief that's close. Thanks for the video.
i didn't know this was possible, really cool
siribiriz same lol I thought it’d be borderline impossible
I'd love to know how close to stall that C130 has to be to match the Helio's speed.
i think it should be close to 2x its stalling speed so it should be fine imo
atomicdeath10 It can actually go pretty slow.
Echelon Gaming Really? I see the flaps are down on the refueler. Can it really go half as fast as it is here? Craziness. This video was tense!
@@adam45011 The propellers move heaps of air and create alot of lift over the wing at low speeds compared to a jet, which needs airspeed to create lift over the wing. It's pretty much a massive stol aircraft.
@Mr Sunshines Great way to end a civilized discussion!
I couldn't help but be reminded of that one scene from "The Perfect Storm" where they tried to do this at night in the middle of a nor'easter.
It's not just from a movie. It happened in real life. I went to flight school with the pilot. Amazing act of courage by the crew!
@@RiffRaffAK I know; I've seen documentaries where they interviewed members of the crew of that chopper.
That's one hell of a pilot!
Fixed wing pilots fly through the air, they just Thrust through.
Helicopter pilots beat the air into submission with their gigantic Titanium balls!
(Brass is too heavy... Tankers and ground forces keep the Brass balls)
Cool video!
That view is just beautiful!
I can’t believe that,well done!
How can anyone give this a thumbs down? Good job by the pilots!
Damn... I had no idea helicopters did this till today
Hi man , i just wanna say youre videos are amazing ! Keep on like this ! Best regards from a french pilot
Makes my job seem a bit dull by comparison (says literally everyone)
Holy crap that fuel must be under some serious pressure to fill up a tank as big as that helicopters in such a short time. Those tanks hold several hundred gallons...
Still dreaming when DCS came so real to this 😍😍😍.
DCS is close to this, there just aren't any helicopters with refueling booms
man I wish DCS brought in some uh-60 variants
just wait for flight simulator 2020 it looks better than real life, but you're gonna need a nasa computer to run it
@@rayanalmaimani4392
Probably not, have you seen Forza? Same engine, runs fantastic on my PC. Amazing what good optimization can do.
@@N75911_ Well, how is it? Did it run well?
Bloody hell that's difficult! Plus the added adrenaline from actually being able to sever that fuel line with the main rotor. This makes aerial planes refueling look easy
I always wondered what that thing on the helicopter that sticks out was for
I always thought it was a machine gun barrel 😀
it`s how they make baby helicopters lol
That's gotta be so damn nerve wracking.
Amazing view with equal amazing flying skills - Thank you for sharing Godspeed
How long does it take for full refuel? And how many liters/gallons of fuel does it take? Thanks.
A lot! ...and it can take several minutes.
Aren't you flying directly into the wake turbulence with these tankers?
Yep! Gets choppy back there.
Refueling on Aircraft looks more easy, but this one have to be Ace to do that. My Respects ✊
Now that I think about it, this is harder since the pilot needs to mind the chute not hitting the main rotors. I guess that's why the probe is very long.
Now that's what you call.... skill!! :) Great video, thanks for posting. Stunning scenery too
cool view. So it's probably you as a Pilot helping in action scenes with a helicopter in the movie Terminator Dark Fate !! ;)
That looks like a bunch of ignoring your gut instincts flying up to that for refuelling. Then maintaining the right speed and attitude throughout. Intense flying.
Gonna have to give you the “Zorro” award for those gallant lunges at the basket. We used to give it to the Harrier guys doing LL AR out at 29 Palms back in the day.
What is it, it is Arma III ? It is DCS ? NOO!!! it's the Real life, it's so amazing (i did a little phrasing because i have i little/bad english ^^
Question : What do you look at? The drogue ? I've heard when you tank off a boom you don't look at it or you'll start oscillating, you look at reference lights and let the boom op fly it. With the drogue is there a reference point, or just fly the probe tip in?
That's epic! thanks for the amazing video!
AMAZING, GREAT PILOTS‼️🇺🇸✈️🚁. Vinny 🇺🇸
What a great find! I worked on avionics on both HH -3s & HC-130s at Hill AFB in the early 1970's - including the Cubic ELF in the Super Jollies. Met two of my unit's birds at Hill Aerospace Museum, & donated Comm Shop night shift log book there back in May 2019.
Too dangerous..whose bright idea was this? It's only a matter of time before an accident occurs.
If aliens are watching us, I'm pretty sure this would be a WTF moment for them
They made that look like stopping at a Shell for some unleaded. That is hard as fa and nothing good can come out of a failure there. Our armed forces are the best trained with the best people in the world.
Clenched! Far out that is close. Talk about skill and precision. 👏👏🏆
What a beautiful country
Where is the wake turbulence? You were directly behind his left wingtip at one point but does not seem to effect the helicopter.
It's just hard to see and it's more prevalent on the right side, we definitely feel it though.
I love this video the most, it's less action but finally unedited and without music! :D
How do u maintain speed while remaining straight like I've heard u need to pitch down to speed.
You have best job in a world, guys. Good luck!
Beside me I had a fan and it added plus 1 realism since it made blade noises somehow lol
This reminds me of loosing my virginity...... But on a serious note you learn something new everyday unreal skill looks mental 👌😍
Do the 130 crews mess with y'all as you are trying to line it up?
Not intentionally anyway, haha!
My butt hole puckered up on that one bro. Great flying!
What a view
Skill. Pure skill. Very nice. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Oh how I miss seeing this. I used to live on Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson.
imagine those propeller wings hit the fuel boom OOF
That's super freaking awesome! I got so into it I thought I was the one refueling.
you are done wonderful job thanks your video.
Procedures hasn't changed much since when I was flying during the late 90's. Cockpit still looks the same as well, thought the 60 would have received a glass cockpit upgrade like the Kilo model by now.
They're coming soon with the W model.
Hey Jolly! Never had this capability when I served. Did the helo naturally wash out after connect, or was that purposed from the pilot?
That was on purpose!
That is serious skill ! Great Work Sir!
maybe a dumb question but are there any safety measures in place for if the rotors hit the fuelline? like it giving way easy so incase that happens the heli doesn't crash?
Nope, unfortunately not! Fortunately it's rare, I've never heard of it happening.
that is got to be hard!
amazing video
What about the wakes?
It gets bumpy back there!
awesome stuff. I watched all your videos, now what? will there be more?
Hopefully soon! Been a bit busy with things.
Good ol' Jolly Green Giants!
Next LEVEL.
Cool indeed..
Well that was awesome to see.
Glad you finally got to fly somewhere with trees !
Incredible work well done👍
Reminds me of prom night.
Pretty darn Amazing!
Like it how the pilot pull up to flatten the fuel line (and avoid risking to cut it with blades) and out to avoid wakes.
Is that fuel boom retractable in some sort ?
Nope, AFAIK it's fixed in place.
The probe does extend & retract. I'm not sure of the exact length, but the fixed portion is about six feet, then it extends another six feet.
@@doctorwigglespank8933 Oh, so it does partially retract. Didn't know that!
Yes. It extends and retracts.
I held my breath for way too long then.
This made me moist. I have problems. lol
Thanks for the fun memories! Found myself pushing tail rotor pedals in my office chair! LOL
