At first there are huge numbers of companies and even individuals trying to establish themselves. Early adopters have so much excitement for the "New" that companies can sell all the products they can make. But with time, the market switches from the enthusiast. To continue to sell, companies must appeal to consumers who are not as knowledgeable about ebikes. And these consumers are sometimes almost afraid that they will make a mistake and buy the wrong bike, or buy from the wrong company. Therefore they look to market size to help them make a decision. More and more of the total sales market goes to the biggest brands as people figure that big brands mean stability. Marginal companies struggle for sales while big companies get bigger. In computers there was once thousands of brands but now Apple, Dell, HP and a few others dominate. In cell phones its Apple and Google and Samsung that have two thirds of the market. Ebikes will be the same. First time ebike consumers will more and more only be willing to consider big brands, while enthusiast ebikers will consider and support smaller, more specialized, brands. I think this is likely though I wonder how many it really boils down to. This might be what some brands are banking on as they try to get as much market share as they can. I'm also curious how local bike shop support shakes out.
That isn't what is happening though. Ebike sales are not being consolidated by the largest brands. Instead, what we might be seeing is a typical shakeout. All the profits draw in lots and lots of new competitors which cause confusion in retail, lots of competition driving down prices and weak hands being pushed out. If we're seeing a pattern, this is the one we are seeing. There must be 1000 plus ebike makers pursuing the sales. The problem is especially tough at the low end. There is absolutely nothing to differentiate 1 moped style e-bike from another. Trek is not in competition with these guys. They have an expensive product that is well differentiated in the market and they have the name brand to charge a premium.
I bought the scorpion bike too. The battery took a dump and when nobody called me back, I Googled the company only to find out they went belly up. I have subscribed to you channel. Please keep us posted on replacement parts. Or other vendors that fix these bikes. Thank you.
I own 2 Juiced Rip currents and when I heard they went bankrupt the first thought was where do I get a battery, then I found a company called HI-C battery that will rebuild your old one. If you love your bike and don't want to get rid of it at least there are options.

Sad to see a company fail...but glad I went with RAD a few years back. Not a glamorous bike (Rover 5 fat tire) but still a beast and in excellent condition after almost 5 years. Easy to repair and service with lots of non-proprietary parts. Battery exhibits no degradation as well. So happy that I recently bought the identical bike on FB marketplace. It was in mint condition...under 200 miles ...even the tires still had the molding spews..... and I now have 2 bikes for friend and family use as well as doubling my range with a second fully compatible battery.
I am looking to get an Etrike. I have a Rad dealer in my neighborhood but don't like the wider width in the back of its Trikes (and its lack of features compared to others). Most bike shops won't touch ANY Ebike so you are on your own when comes to repair or upkeep, even a flat.

I bought a Hyperfat 1100 in 2018….it was a $3,500 bike at the time. The bike got lost in shipping and they wouldn’t send another. Over a month later they finally tracked it down sitting in Texas for weeks…I live in Washington. They acted like II just needed to chill out and wait (even though I was calm on the phone). One guy even said I may need to meet a driver somewhere to get the bike. I had to explain to him that whenever I’ve ordered anything online it was a given that when I hit the button it is delivered to my address…he disagreed saying that isn’t always the case. Once the bike was here I had a lot of regrets for the price. I’m happy to say over the years I’m up to owning 6 great bikes, the Juiced being the worst. As far as I can see they were one of the first but never caught patronage amongst customers. That same month I bought my amazing girlfriend a bike, but I was sure not to repeat business with Juiced. F ‘em…there are way too many great companies these days.
My first ebike was a secondhand Lectric XP 3.0. Put 2000 miles on it in one summer. The Hyperscorpion was on my list earlier this year when I was prospecting for a good e-moped. Ended up with an Ariel Rider X-Class because lower price / same energy. Love the X, but AR's stagnant lineup has me wondering if they might soon be on the chopping block. Just ordered a Ride1Up Cafe Cruiser to round out my stable- and to beat any potential price increases or breakdowns that can't be remedied. If this novice has learned anything in her first couple years it's do the homework, watch the reviews and keep your options open. Certainly more affordable than most cars these days.
I am noticing eBikes are available on Temu with free shipping from local suppliers. The prices are insanely low. About half the price of something similar from Lectric/other manufacturers or available on Amazon. PS. Things may be happening at Lectric. No longer ship outside the USA. I live in Canada and purchased a Lectric 2.0 a few years back. Absolutely no issues. Went to order a new battery and found out Lectric no longer ships internationally ie. Canada.
Yeah the problem is support with the unknown brands. I have no inside knowledge on Lectric pulling out of Canada but they clearly need high volume to attain their price points so I wonder if that was the main driver. Canada maybe wasn't as big of a market as they had hoped?
I own a Ripcurrent S and love it. That being said, my recommendation for a new bike? The Wired Freedom or Cruiser. Why? There is NOTHING on that bike that is proprietary. So if they go out of business, you will still be able to get things like batteries, controllers, throttles, etc. etc. etc.
Hi! I just found your channel. I ordered a Juiced Hyper Scorpion in April 2024, they said it would be shipped in July. It wasn't, and in August I started contacting support about the late shipment. They told me it was held up by US Customs, and then in September they said that it had been cleared and would be shipping out soon. A month later, they stopped responding to my inquiries. Then I heard they actually went bankrupt and were sold at auction. Then I filed a dispute with my credit card company because I never got the bike, and after another month, yesterday I got a letter saying they can't help me because it was paid in full already...because I only used the credit card for convenience of ordering. Now, I have no idea what to do, I'm out $2.2K, and Juiced seems to have stolen my money. The website is still advertising 20% off sales, and their contact number goes unanswered. Any advice? Can I get my bike? Am I screwed? It is unbelievable that this could happen... Please anything helps.
I'm so sorry this happened to you. You can try the Facebook group to see what others have done but the general advice is to contact your credit card company which you have already done. Maybe try to escalate it?
Problem is the juiced up prices. Availability of parts and cost of batteries. Plus charging fires getting publicity doesn’t help. Finally, customer service is lacking with many of these companies. When Sam’s Club is selling them at steep discounts, you know the end is near. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Let’s all count the lies about Juiced Bikes. 1. Their stock tires were not durable. They sucked. Literally got flat after flat on them tires. 2. Their bikes weren’t the best. There were other brands who bikes were better looking but of course a lot of people went with Juiced because of the 52v battery.
There are quite a few of humanity that don't like bike riding. I think this is one of the bike's industry problems. A lot of people are becoming more and more lazy! They don't desire to do much work (force X Energy). I moved from San Diego to Las Vegas three years ago. OMGoodness; Where I currently reside, I am the only woman who rides a bike. Even the children give me hard times for doing so. I have once again sunk into depression because of the lack of being able to do what brings me a little happiness here in Vegas. It is really disappointing here. A lot of the locals here all they desire to do is stay in their residence, watch TV all day long, drink, smoke cigarettes, etc. So depressing here :(
Any company that relies on expensive ebike's and those shady companies who make cheaper bikes, can get in trouble quickly..I considered Juiced shady, even though they have been around forever, and made decent bikes. Juiced was the first company I ever checked out, a decade ago..But any company can go bankrupt.
I got scammed by Juiced am out over $2,000. They took orders knowing they couldn’t fill them and lied about order status and my request for refunding. Total scam.
this sounds like BS. If you bought it on line that means you used a Credit card. If you used a credit card and didn't receive the product you just need to call you CC company and they will refund you. Juiced was never a scam company.
Too many makers, trying to get repair parts for anything over a couple years old is really hard. Too many model changes in a year. I will sell my Fucare bikes this spring and go with LECTRIC for all my bikes they seem one of the more stable makers.
I was floored when I heard they went bankrupt. I bought the Ripcurrent 8 years ago and have had friends buy 4 others from riding mine. I sold at least a dozen bikes for that company just by people stopping me and asking me about it and me recommending it. Almost started a shop 10 years ago and looked into high volume purchases from oversees and the mark up that you could then do was almost double the cost. So how Juiced lost money is behind me. There is no other overhead than a warehouse!! It must have been through mismanagement or theft.
there was an incredible ebike kit (motor/battery) that could be added to any bike. BIONX the motor and the battery had chips that talked to each other.. Very good, but Very Expensive (like $3k+ 15 years ago.. When the battery reached it's max cycles and failed to accept a charge (Any ebike battery will eventually not hold a charge) Those proprietary batteries were around $850+ to replace... Like the Shimano STEPS and the Bosch kits, the bionx motor would not work with out the bionx battery.. Bionx motors were incredible and can go 10's of thousands of miles. but they are useless when they stopped making the proprietary batteries.. This is the problem with a proprietary system.. you cannot use a generic lithium battery. I always choose a middrive kit like Bafang BBS ... you can find any battery (look for one with a high quality BMS and Samsung or Panasonic cells... ask those last longer and are not a fire risk..the cheap/low quality are a fire risk.
it worries me when i see proprietary ebike or bikes in general talking about going under.. if the proprietary parts are not manufactured anymore, you will have a bike you can't get repaired.. I hope they at least continue to have aaftermarket parts that are compatible to keep them running for years.. 5 years ago, the Electric assist and bike market was booming.. it is the last 4 years that caused so many to loose business. it is like a bike virus.. We need to be focused on the positive aspects of riding a bike /ebike /etrike..:fun, economy, grocery shopping with one and it is the funnest diet/exercise diet plan around..Far less expensive than a car with maintenance, licensing, taxes, tabs, parking, tickets insurance.. and focus on the need for parts to keep the mechanics in business. We need to start being optimistic again.. 17 cents of electricity will take me 50 miles.. How much does that car cost..? Bikes are the future of economics and health.. Focus on that..
Man that sucks, but at the same time inflated markets can be a bad thing. Hopefully we get better and better final products from every other company 🤷🏽♂️ still.... R.I.P Juiced 😢
It’s all about customer service and low cost as every bike is manufactured in China, or use Chinese components for those assembled in the US. Chinese brands can’t provide good customer service or there would be no US bike companies. The companies that will fail are those with large cost structures and stale/obsolete offerings. If you are not innovating rapidly, you’re done. Lectric looks good but has a pretty high cost structure and competes at the low end where lowest cost wins and they don’t make their bikes and have no advantage . Lectric has been rapidly expanding their offerings which is smart because the low end is not where you want to be. Rad looks to be near the end with obsolete underpowered offerings and high costs. I would think Ariel Rider is not selling many bikes with competition from Wired in the high powered bike segment.
12:11 My guess is either Wired Freedom. Wired Freedom has not very well been dealing with a Major design / flaw issue of their flagship bike so likely not them.
I think Wired has sold close to 10,000 bikes this year with almost no marketing spend and has sold virtually every bike as fast as they can make them. I’m sure the 2025 models will be equally compelling. E cells is definitely in big trouble with massive wait times, unhappy customers, and an F rating from the BBB. E cells prices are not competitive and no one is buying $4-5k AWD bikes.
@@EcoSpeederSays the e cells trolls, meanwhile all e cell dual battery bikes have a death wobble with no solution. Wired has a steering damper headset that solves any issues. Again, Wired has delivered almost 10k bikes this year and there have been only a handful of complaints, mostly from e cell trolls with questionable credibility. I’m pretty sure the 2025 models will address any issues from previous models. Meanwhile, e cells is run by a felon, gets an F from the BBB, and one has to file complaints with the FTC and banks to get a refund after waiting months for a bike that never comes.
@@jfly2249 -- I had the opportunity to put 'hands on' the WIRED example of the Wired Freedom rear suspension issue. And speak to several owners. Wired has the death wobble issue my shill.
One item to add, motorcycle brand KTM's owner, Pierer Mobility AG, jumped into the eBike scene during the Covid years and now likely regrets it, given the bloodbath. Their entire corporate structure is hurting.
I was sooo close to buying a VanMoof bike last year. At one point it was #1 on my list. But ultimately I wanted a bike that came with a rear rack so VanMoof slid down my list.
One thing I would say is that if you have a feeling that a company is struggling, you should not promote that information, Because that might accelerate their decline. It’s the rumor mill effect.
All or most of their ebikes were marketed towards middle and upper classes of consumers. 1 field to market is a BIG RISK due to the many other companies compete ting but a more open market of every class. You go big with big money, you take a big risk of losing more money by not able to sell majority due to the price ranges too high for most to even stop and look into the specs. The overall price is ALWAYS THE GO GET HERE TACTIC as this gets ppl to stop and not pass up. Its the only issue I saw from Juiced EBikes of all of their prices beyond the mainstream users of joining in on the trend of ebiking.
Another factor is the style of frames for they all look like OLD school MOPEDS which is a factor of the new generations looking towards the future along with the appeal the public gives out and moped frames is not a go get her tactic as the look means everything as well.
people don't understand how tariffs work.. Chevrolet cannot sell a car in China, because china places a import tariff on American made cars.. The tariffs the new admin places will level the playing field.. It will open the Chinese market up so that American made cars and yes, bikes will be a competitive price.. People don't know that the USA is the only country that doesn't have tariffs, and our Made in America product manufacturer get screwed because we can't sell our product abroad.. Tariffs are a leveraging tool.. China will have to lower the cost of their vehicles to sell to the American consumers.. They rely heavily on the American consumers to run their business. they do not want to loose us as customers. So they will lower the cost to compensate for the tariff. the majority of American bike frames are welded together in China, Melanesia or Taiwan, they are shipped back to usa to be assembled and add all the components: pedals, cranks, cassettes, brakes etc.. (that way they can say: "made in America". The tariffs will level this playing field and provide affordable bikes.. Talk about the benefits, low cost, no parking fees, 17 cents electricity on ebike will take you 50 miles.. Exercise etc... focus on the positives and why people ride bikes.. that is the key.
I was really considering a DOST ebike or Yamaha ebike... sad news for these companies (and all the people affected) going away. I was looking forward when the belt drive ebikes were more readily available and affordable.
Definitely sad. There are some really great belt drive bikes that are well priced depending on what you're looking for. I've been riding the Lectric One a lot, but also the Centauri II (review soon) and the Prodigy V2 from Ride1Up. On the more affordable end there are some single-speeds though I admit they are better with gears if you live near hills.
I have a trike that's set up to be electrified I haven't did it yet but nothing wrong of e-bikes except for the fact of the lithium batteries that's the only reason I haven't invested in the motor and stuff if you don't remember the fire that happened up in New York where six employees of an e-bike shop died before the fire even broke out and that was from the fumes from the lithium batteries that were breaking down on the bikes in the shop before it even spontaneously ignited the smoke detector cannot pick up the individual Vapors of a lithium fire until it's full-fledged fire I think electric bikes are cool I think electric cars are fun it's just they got to fix the batteries
The market seems to be dominated by janky trash bikes from no name brands and bikes from established brands that can’t seem to make bikes that are more than motorized versions of pedal bikes. I’m still looking for a high quality e-bike with all internal gearing, shaft drive or an enclosed belt drive, full internal cable routing, high quality racks and fenders, suspension, and motorcycle quality turn signals, headlights and taillights. Oh, and it shouldn’t cost twice as much as a motorcycle (e.g., Stromer).
I'll stick with my pedal powered bicycle there's no electronics to go outdated or fail and I can say that I'm green when I'm riding my bike I don't have toxic batteries that are bad for the environment and extinguishing fires are a huge problem for first responders like the lithium ion battery recycling plant that caught fire recently
I bought a hyperscorpion when they first came out was not impressed with that bike one bit it had the most uncomfortable seat in the world so I sold the bike actually for more than I paid for it oh for me everything worked out fine the funny part is just bikes has been around for a long long time Antioch on all the bike trails through the city I never ever see a juice bike and I haven't seen any hyper scorpions I must have been the only one to own one in Seattle juice could have been a industry leader in e-bikes but instead they just made mediocre e-bikes with no customer service so in the end it all caught up with them too many companies make any bikes nowadays rip
As a juiced bike owner i thought the brand was solid now im trying to sell a brand that's gone out of business if anyone is looking for a used a juiced RIP Current s I have it for sale
I saw that the ex con owner is trying to sell the company, can’t be good. I suspect that e cells is going to have an existential tax crisis soon as you cannot get away without paying sales tax in a computerized world with AI and the internet. Also, their F rating from the BBB speaks volumes. STAY AWAY!!!
Nowhere yet, a bit tricky since if/when we offer it we want it to be high quality. We also don't want to be the ones packing schwag (rather be reviewing ebikes) and I'm not sure if there is enough demand yet.
very cool video and information.. I own 3 E-bikes...My fat bike is a 2018 Ripcurrent S bought new and I have replaced the core motor 3 times and on my 4th...it has a little over 36,000 miles on it now. I still have a backup rear wheel when I need it. The Other juiced bike is a Crosscurrent X and it has 3200 miles on it, im looking to get a motor core or a complete back wheel, if anyone has a spare and wants to sell it, please get in touch with me. The I have a Sondors Rock Star..which is another company that went under...Amazing MTB...with power to spare from its mid drive.. But I will never buy an e-bike from these overnight companies again..my next e-bike will be from a name brand like Trek, Specialized or Giant to name a few...yes it costs more but at the end of the day you can depend on those companies.
Brands with their specific parts, own battery packs with special shapes and so on, are not recommended. If they go out of business, it can be the end of the e-bike. They call it green and sustainable, but is not, it's throw-away-mentality. Never have an issue with for example Bafang BBSHD and Samsung cells in Hailong case. These parts can put on most of the bicycle. They are reliable and repairable.
Electric Bike Company won't respond to me for parts I need for my model E, they won't field calls goes into a recording that requests to message them through website then they never respond. . I wish I never bought a bike from these people
Juiced bikes = ugly bikes, Talaria and Eride Pro, Surron. Luna Cycles were the first and are still going strong. Also hub motors suck! Luna has a great Emountain bike that is carbon and you can even order it with 2000 watt setup (Which i have0

So if they go out of business, you will still be able to get things like batteries, controllers, throttles, etc. etc. etc.
Great point - all of those external components are great for being easy to replace.
If the gov was serious about going green, an e bike uses 1/10 to 1 HP to move a person. Most people wouldn't even think thats possible
super efficient, not to mention size
75 pounds of bike to move a 200 pound person. Compare that to a 4,000 pound car moving a 200 pound person.
Nothing lasts forever, once market saturation hits max levels the weak will fall off, that’s just the way it works.
So many ebikes amd companies. Its so saturated. Many will go down. Tariffs will put even more pressure on both companies and buyer.
So depressing here :(
Don’t let those actions (or lack of) by others get you down. Keep doing your thing. You will find your community eventually.
Maybe try Portland?
I'm design a path and may keep the e-bikes on a separate path. From walking, running and the basic bike.
Thats what ive done got rid of everything and gone with lectric only one i trust
Hopefully Ride1up will stay in business for awhile.
Indeed. Got two Roadsters from them. Great bikes for a great price.
I've never owned one, but they must have gotten the name" junk bikes" for a reason.
Man that sucks, but at the same time inflated markets can be a bad thing.
Hopefully we get better and better final products from every other company 🤷🏽♂️ still.... R.I.P Juiced 😢
E-bikes need a standard battery form factor. Juiced was horrible in servicing batteries.
SoCal ebike company Sondors, went under this year after almost 15 years in the business.
12:11 My guess is either Wired Freedom.
Wired Freedom has not very well been dealing with a Major design / flaw issue of their flagship bike so likely not them.
Interesting, why ECells? We haven't reviewed one but are aware of them.
@@jfly2249 - They have a huge major design flaw in the rear suspension.
Interesting - is there any press about them struggling?
I really like my Juiced Hyperscorpion and I am sad to see Juiced go under.
I was sooo close to buying a VanMoof bike last year. At one point it was #1 on my list. But ultimately I wanted a bike that came with a rear rack so VanMoof slid down my list.
I noticed Velowave is having a Juiced Bikes clearance sale and they have a parts request form.
One thing I would say is that if you have a feeling that a company is struggling, you should not promote that information, Because that might accelerate their decline. It’s the rumor mill effect.
For sure and even if we wanted to share, more than likely we don't know the whole story.
It is surprising, since they had good products.
Have you ever did a review on HJM e-bikes like the maverick
We have not
Is there a standard battery. I had a cheap ebike and almost had to throw away when could not find a battery, its about 4yrs old.
Well yamaha wil still supply motors and batteries for giant and other, so you can still get parts
How about onyx that was hard pill to swallow
I had ecomotion electric bike they went out of business at least a year ago i sold the bike for 700
Now day you get a lot for 1K. If you have more cash Trek dealer network very appealing.
Velowave seems to be trying to pick up the Juiced slack...
Yamaha ebikes too? I think I remember seeing some in the '90s, then nothing until the past few years.
I own 5 E-Bikes, 3 of them are out-of-business. Who's winning? Lectric??
Wow, bad luck! Which brands? Lectric seems to be doing quite well
I bought a hyperscorpion when they first came out was not impressed with that bike one bit it had the most uncomfortable seat in the world so I sold the bike actually for more than I paid for it oh for me everything worked out fine the funny part is just bikes has been around for a long long time Antioch on all the bike trails through the city I never ever see a juice bike and I haven't seen any hyper scorpions I must have been the only one to own one in Seattle juice could have been a industry leader in e-bikes but instead they just made mediocre e-bikes with no customer service so in the end it all caught up with them too many companies make any bikes nowadays rip
The market is full of moped style bikes. I owned the juiced scrambler and it wasn't for me. Not impressed with mileage and practicality.
There are a lot for sure. I always thought of Juiced as one of the better brands. I've been really happy with ours so far and it suits our needs.
Love my scrambler, but I need a replacement battery!
Edit: I've put close to 5k miles on it.
Ebike companies are springing up like mushrooms. a shakeot is inevitable. Like PC companies back in the 80's
As a juiced bike owner i thought the brand was solid now im trying to sell a brand that's gone out of business if anyone is looking for a used a juiced RIP Current s I have it for sale
All is hell that ends well!
Have you heard anything on e-cell for sell and maybe bankruptcy?
I saw that the ex con owner is trying to sell the company, can’t be good. I suspect that e cells is going to have an existential tax crisis soon as you cannot get away without paying sales tax in a computerized world with AI and the internet. Also, their F rating from the BBB speaks volumes. STAY AWAY!!!
I have not
Where can I buy some "ebike escape" schwag?...
Fuell!
you video did not fulfill the impetus of the title. based on what you highlighted on the Juiced bike, there's nothing special about it.
Electric Bike Company won't respond to me for parts I need for my model E, they won't field calls goes into a recording that requests to message them through website then they never respond. . I wish I never bought a bike from these people
Quality is crap. I work on them for a living so I've seen plenty
Want goes wrong the most with them?
Please someone buy my bike im trying to sell it. I need the money to help with my mom cancer treatment
Juiced bikes = ugly bikes, Talaria and Eride Pro, Surron. Luna Cycles were the first and are still going strong. Also hub motors suck! Luna has a great Emountain bike that is carbon and you can even order it with 2000 watt setup (Which i have0
Somehow these kids making these videos think they can use fancy words to sell these bikes that you cant even get parts for when your sitting on the side of the road.... prices are way to high and the quality on all of them are getting more and more piss poor... sorry kiddies but your still a little green behind the ears
juiced is not a bad ebike. vanmoof was absolute trash
TARIFFS are going to devastate the business in USA
😂 very doubtful,
All of the knuckleheads who voted for Agent Orange really have/had NO IDEA what the very real, very harsh implications of the tariffs will be.
😂 rather have a paycheck, and not eat the buds
