I'm crying and am so happy that other kids have and had gentle reflected parents. I didn't know I had ARFID until recently and I would vomit the daily breakfast porridge&was made to eat the vomited out porridge again and again. I couldn't control the disgust&vomiting🤢😭and it just made me even more restrictive, scarred for life and made food sooooo difficult
Now as an adult I'm so glad to have found a name for it and creators like you!! I will gentle parent myself, as now I am my own parent and will tirelessly search for appropriate professional help. Big THANKS
I'm sure there's a lot of folks with stories like mine that might not comment, but really I want you to know that you have a positive life-changing impact on the life of other people. Thanks

My nephew developed AFRID. He developed leukemia at the cusp of him trying solid foods (a little before he turned 1) and chemo made everything taste like dirt to him except nacho cheese doritos which was all he would eat willingly for 3 years. He's 5 now- he beat his cancer 2 years ago- and is still very picky but thanks to therapy he's been able to branch out and expand his go-to foods little by little. It's a big deal everytime he tries something new but we have to hold our breath and pretend we don't notice.
