i like that its in real time not sped up. the tough part of learning this way of working is knowing how to think in this way of breaking down the operations into these very abstract steps that then build on top of each-other. i think some micro tuts on useful effects that translate into any material would be good.
Thank you! This was the first video I made in real speed, glad it's helpful! I am currently more busy with InstaMAT tutorials, which is a new and free alternative for Designer. As the workflows are similiar in regards of material creation, I am sure there is something to pick up for Designer users as well!
Hey Taria! Glad you like it and that it was helpful! I think rewinding a tutorial is really necessary to learn from it, I do it too when trying to learn new ways and workflows from other artists and understand them truly. However, I also know that this tutoral could have been a bit more indepth. I try to get better at this! :)
@@debe3D I worked out nicely. Once my project gets graded and I can upload it to artstation (if we're allowed) I will definitely add your link to show where I found the tutorial for how I made mine. It's not perfect, but it looks pretty good.
Great! Sure you can upload it to artstation, can't wait to see the outcome! A link to the tutorial and/or artstation profile would of course be appreciated. Thanks!
@@debe3D Absolutely, I don't take credit for something I didn't create and always make sure the original artist gets full credit for it even if it's a tutorial. Credit always goes to where it's supposed too. :) I have an artstation if you want to go see it. H.M.Bright you can go check it out if you like. :)
Great tutorial, just to note some “beginners” may not know what nodes you first started off with before diving in. Luckily I’m getting familiar with the program so I guessed how you did that, but others may not know what you have going on on your start up screen.
Thanks, glad you like it! Indeed, you are right, got exactly that question on another tutorial. Will keep that in mind for the next beginner tutorial I make. Great you figured it out by yourself!
@@debe3D Yes sir you definitely have a new subscriber and I look forward to more of your videos. You gotta Great channel and substance is a great program!
Thank you so much! I got a little problem while follow your flow. In the "base material" node, I can't find input. I only can see output... How to make custom node??
Hey, glad you like it! When you double click the "Base Material" node, you get that nodes properties on the right side. Under "User-Defined Maps" you have to set the Inputs you would like to have to "True", normally they are set to "False". As soon as you set them to "True", they will get visible on the node. Hope that helps! If you still have problems, don't hesitate to ask!
Good tutorial, but a tiny more explanation in the beginning would be useful, specially when adjusting the values. It's a bit hard to follow when looking at both screen ;)
Thanks, glad you like it! Absolutley, you are right! This was my first narrated tutorial, I'll do it better with the next one. Thanks for suggestion for improvement!
@@debe3D I have SD 11.3.3, and I placed an Ambient Occussion (HBAO) node and turned to true the Abtient occasion base material input, but it's not connecting
That's weird indeed. Is the Output of the AO node as well as the Input on the Base Material node grayscale? Both connection dots should be gray, if one of them is orange, it means it's in color mode. Although both should be grayscale at default. Although I don't think it's even possible to have one of them in color.
@@debe3D Both inputs and outputs appear grey to me, and it's not allowing me to connect them, I tried using different nodes, and changing the input, but it's not connecting.
Thanks, glad you like it! I'll try to go more into detail in the next beginner tutorial, this was my first attempt, so there is a lot to improve. Maybe I can explain some things further, what do you need to know about the workflow? Maybe I can help you out.
Hey, sorry for my late answere, I am really busy at the moment. I'll see what I can do, I am mainly making Materials with Designer though, so can't promise anything.
Sure, you just need to adjust the count/scale of your base shapes and the noises you use appropriately. That's the great thing about procedural workflows, you can change everything on the fly or at the end, when you need it. Or do you mean the resolution?

I'm having problems connecting the ambient occlusion node to the base material, which of the two ambient occlusion nodes did you use?
Hey, which version of SD are you using? I only have one AO node which is called "Ambient Occlusion (HBAO)".

Weird. Did you try to spawn a new Base Material node and try that one? Or tried a clean file with just Base Material Node and AO?
