    What load...if you didnt pay protection that THEY DECIDED YOU HAVE TO PAY....they continued to beat you until you paid, left, or died.

      What he's talking about is the man or woman walking to and from work. If you were in business with the mob even if you were paying protection, in the mob world, you were part of it. As sick and twisted as that is. But the average Joe or Jane were not to be touched. Anastasia though had plenty of strikes against him, ordering the killing of a civilian was the last straw for him. Roy DeMeo killed a teen who was a door to door salesman and an innocent woman which was the reason Big Paul had him killed. Killing a civilian was not tolerated in that world. Yes, very few guys got away with it but the majority didn't. That was most likely the one rule most guys did follow simply because they knew if ID'd they'd be gone.

      You've seen one too many Scorsese flicks, fren. That's how the mafia started in Sicily. As protection for businesses and families against countless Muslim invasions and raids from North Africa along with brigands. This goes back like 800 years before there were police departments in that part of the world. That wouldn't fly in the United States, it's legend that gets embellished more with every generation.

    "They were noble good people" ~guys that have never dealt with gangsters or have seen how they destroy neighborhoods.

    • @sayque-ch6vh
      @sayque-ch6vh 12 днів тому

      Eh wouldn’t say the mob destroyed neighborhoods the same as today, shits way different, and a lot worse today. Literally anyone can get it nowadays, back then although loose they had some rules. Compared to street gang organized crime have more rules, that’s why one is a street gang, and the other is a organization based in different countries around the world. Although definitely wouldn’t call them noble men, beating the shit out of local business owners until they pay you protection isn’t exactly noble 😂

      Different gangs different times, all the post 1980's gangs were just drug running operations and perfect idiots for the government to keep overreaching with predatory laws, from what I've seen the infrastructure of old mobs was more praiseworthy because of the standard they set AFTER the initial violence of the 30's.

    So, *most* people in the mafia had a rule in the criminal... game? Not all, just *most* didnt kill innocent because they are innocent, they only killed people who are criminals, why? Why not kill civilians? They're innocent. So, why do they kill the criminals? They are not innocent. They all agree, i'm assuming at a coffee date, "Hey we aren't innocent, you're also in the *game* And that means you're not innocent, and neither are we. So its fair." So they kill each other. But the other people, they dont play the... game? So they see they shouldnt be killing innocent people because theyre innocent, but the other guys, they arent innocent so, they know from right or wrong. Got it. You repeated the same thing and now my head is bleeding from banging it on my cement driveway.

    My great grandfather lived in little Italy in cleveland in the 1930s. His son (my grandpa) was an only child. That was incredibly rare of Italian families back then. And he put every penny into his family. So other families took their kids to corner doctors. My grandpa had specialists making house visits. Anyway this gets back to the cleveland mob and they assume he's making money on the side and not kicking it up, so they gave him 24 hours to pay an exorbitant amount of "back taxes" so he fled to Buffalo. After a few days, people from the neighborhood told the mob guys that he's just a hard working man with an only child and that he doesn't do any crime. So they tracked him down in Buffalo to apologize for their mistake. After that, nobody ever messed with my great grandfather.

    Most people in the mafia haha not true ask many many dead store owners that were wacked for not paying money to the local mob so others don’t rob them haha also there are thousands of dead family members that were killed to scare other victims many are buried in fresh kills landfill or in the kill van kull water way . From the 60’s thru the 90’s Staten Island had more mobsters living there then all other cities combined even more then in Italy … if you grew up in Staten Island and Brooklyn and Bronx in the 70’s thru the late 90’s you lived next to and friends with mobsters that was life it wasn’t until I retired and moved to Nc that I realized mobsters weren’t everywhere lol
