- In this recent episode, I had the privilege of meeting up with Chris Colombo, the son of the late Joe Colombo Sr. You might remember Joe Colombo as a prominent figure in Italian-American history. Back in 1971, a tragic event unfolded during a massive rally at Columbus Circle when Joe Colombo Sr. was shot. Chris, who was just 9 years old at the time, witnessed this shocking incident. Today, Chris is a compassionate and insightful individual. We'll talk about his life journey, his dad's enduring legacy, and the amazing work he's doing to help children, fulfilling his father's dream. Join us for this heartfelt conversation about history and the enduring bonds of friendship.

“Forget the experience, remember the lesson” my god what a gem!!
There are so many gems of wisdom here. "Forget the experience, remember the lesson"
Lol, the lesson is gambling wrecks lives...
one cannot remember the lesson without the reference point of the experience
@@bonnie_gail SSShhh you're spoiling the illusion. Most people don't want to have to think.
Michael and Chris are stand up guys, I’m Sicilian from Lercara Friddi and the way they speak of the love of there parents is how I feel about mine, We we’re taught respect, hold the door open, say please and thank you …etc …
I LOVE that one of the first things he said is, "everyone knows your dad was framed." ✝️😊
@LucaBrasi6x I saw an interview that part of why they targeted him specifically was due to the Kennedy's fascination with Marilyn Monroe.
@@libertybell8852 How does that make sense? 😅
@@mnmmnm8321 Because his dad said that he had a thing with Marilyn Monroe.
A lot of people that went to prison and their families say they’re innocent. One of the trends I’ve noticed on this channel with the interviews with the old wise guys is they always trying to paint themselves like they’ve got the highest moral character and are pillars of society. 😂
@@DocstantinopleI guess your 1 of those people that loves the government n think they can do no wrong lol
A wonderful conversation. Appreciate the kind words.
I know someone very well who was involved in that life.

Great 👍 sit down Chris, The Belfast poet Andrew Beattie. God bless 🙌 🙏 ❤️
Would have never expected this interview, thanks Michael

Are you and the boys kosher now? Can you freely travel in New York without looking over your shoulder? I’d be very happy for you if that is the case.
@@VespasianJudeawell you have new informants that where made men like John penisi who done videos so I’m sure he can. . Those that wanted to kill Michael back then are all dead
Seems to be a nothing interview tbh. Bringing ex mobsters on to talk about current politics isn't as interesting as talking about stories from the past
Este canal sige mejorando cada dia. La verdad es la verdad en el otro lado de ka Puerta. Gracias jefe!!!!
@@ericsanchez6263 Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con este sentimiento. Espero que tenga un gran día señor.
Mr. Colombo is very charismatic. I am surprised he hasn’t been cast in a movie.
I hope mike uses him in his show!
I know! Reminiscent of paul sorvino.
Oh boy, a franzese and a columbo getting together again 😂😂 you guys are awesome! Thanks for the best pod on the Internet
This was a GREAT interview. Never thought I'd see an interview with an actual Colombo. Thank you Sir.
I love to see UA-cam starting to blow up w Italian Americans talking about the way it used to be in NY
Ever since I watched the Godfather part 1 on AMC during Thanksgiving time when I was 13 years old. That movie changed the way I looked at life. I grew up with a single mom, my mom dragged me to the Catholic church by the ear, I'm babtised, performed my first communion, and confirmation. I always love to watch the Godfather during Thanksgiving and Christmas time because I have a lot to be thankful for. The Godfather part 1 is the Best!
I love how he remembers so much about your father and still defends him saying “I never knew him to be a liar” it’s fascinating that they claimed dishonorable discharge on both of your fathers and it wasn’t true. This is a beautiful interview and insight. Thank you for sharing it and your history. It’s truly eye opening to hear your perspectives.
I absolutely LOVED this interview! The Italian heritage is beautiful, my grandfather and his brothers came to America and loved this country so much, they fought in ww2 and were not American citizens yet. His two brothers lost their lives in the war, and in the cemetery in San Marino they have a beautiful statue to honor them. I’m so proud to be Italian American!
I LOVE ITALIANS!!! THE CULTURE AND THE FOOD IS SO EXQUISITE TO ME!!!!!
You’re not an Italian American. Your grandfather and his brothers are. But you’re an American. Your grandfather chose to bring his lineage here. There’s no such thing as anything Americans except African Americans and native Americans.
Eh ... Other heritages are just as beautiful, if not better.
Yes it was great growing up in an Italian household I'm blessed to be an Italian American. Such great memories and traditions I wouldn't have it any other way.
Much respect to you and Chris. No one's past defines them. Its never about yesterday, its about what their past has made the man today and you sir, are a good man.
@@michaelfranzeseNo way Michael himself watches and leaves these comments right?
To say our past doesn't define us is absurd. To paraphrase a ninetenth century author... Man is the sum total of all his actions and environments
Your past helps "mold" you to the person you are today but it should NEVER define you or you just aren't learning anything! @@richardhiller3135
A good man??…. He had people murdered…. He ended people’s lives, he’s not a good man. He took fathers away from sons and daughters, he caused plenty of pain and suffering, no amount of rehabilitation will be able to fix what he did, no amount of praying to god is going to fix the evil he has done in this world.
Michael always makes my day with some amazing content.. 🙂

You obviously don't believe in the truth 😅
Thank you , I so enjoyed this conversation with Mr.Columbo.
Also a follower of Jesus saved and redeemed myself by His unbelievable Grace and Mercy. So proud of you both for growing up to be the good men you are, not fake but genuinely changed on the inside and it shows in your speech and vibes. The “Mafia” story isnt done yet, our God is working the narrative for the good of the next generation! 🙌🏽
You know, I was around living in Brooklyn at the time when all the events you talk about happened, but this conversation was really insightful and to hear about things from the inside puts everything I thought I knew in a different perspective. Highest respect for you both!

Thanks for all the content you produce for all of us regular folks each week, Michael.

It’s surreal to see the son of the underboss and the son of the boss doing this sit down, hope part 2 comes out sooner than later
Isn't it the son of the boss and the boss. Dudes dad was Columbo the name of the the gang and I thought MF became the boss ?

Why are they glorifying the mafia though?
@@mitsurikanroji9548because the internet 😅
I think they have Put the evil actions that you commit in that life and placed it and its own compartment separate from the memories of the fun times with big family gatherings and weddings and the almost military like camaraderie that people in that lifestyle have for one another, plus Cosa Nostra sells weather it’s a tv series or a movie now it has changed with the times and podcasts. I’m 100 percent Italian and I grew up watching the movies and reading the books it fascinates and entertains me, I even Correspond through mail with Tommy Karate but I don’t condone the violence that he use to commit, I believe people can change and I am in no position to judge anyone, I’m a Christian and I believe in Grace because without forgiveness I’m just another sinner. I apologize for the long winded response
I'm so grateful for this interview between these two great men and one of the most profound messages I got from this is "You can't break the law to catch lawbreakers" and "When they're done with us, they're gonna move onto the next group". Indeed, they are using it now against political enemies. I hope American citizens wake up to this.
@@michaelfranzese Were guys that had always been dope dealers allowed to set up their headquarters in Little Italy, or was that area out of the question?
American citizens are in the cross hairs now. Have been for awhile
Why are these two great guys again?
Last of a dying breed. Salute 2 both of these gentlemen!
This man is like a chess grandmaster. You say something smart and eloquent and he can reply with something even better before you finish saying what you want to say. Very impressive.
Through speaking the truth. These guys make more sense than any politician.
Enjoyed the mutual respect for each other and taking about the families.
You are incredible Mr Franzese you are so right as was Mr Columbo a joy to watch thank you David Porter
I live in the UK and have found these interviews compulsive viewing - I strongly believe, and from an outside point of view, had Mr Franzese been born on the other side of the blanket we'd be looking at a fine President of the U.S.A
Joe Colombo was ruthless! The Italians did what they had to do because so many were being discriminated against when they arrived in America. The large history behind certain families were written in lakes of blood.
Is that the way it was in the 1960s?
Any person living in a foreign country is discriminated against by the natives.
Nobody wants an influx of unknowns landing in their community disrupting the demographics and unsettling their sense of security.
In the case of Italians in America running a nationwide organised crime syndicate of racketeering, extortion, shy locking, corruption etc..... it doesn't really help with the integration process does it?
In the UK right now we have a huge influx of Albanian criminal gangs who are doing the same thing in our cities and we weren't exactly struggling to fill organised crime employment vacancies to begin with.
Immigration can be beneficial if the newcomers are trained and skilled qualified professionals who intend to work and contribute but 99% of the ones landing here are just scroungers with ulterior motives.
They extorted thier own people

I loved this interview a lot. The stories, experiences about the mob life and pretty much your whole perception on life as man of God and a Christian is very inspirational to me. I can’t wait to hear more interviews like this , keep up the good work and God bless. Thank you
Ready for Part 2! Glad to hear stories of your father in the military. I served and was deployed but i totally agree that our younger generations need to wake up. Also i think alot of us combat veterans are tired of what they are doing to this country.
@@michaelfranzese Sorry for the late reply, but its an honor to even have you reply back to me! I have the most respect for you and the men back in the day! You had moral, values, integrity. These days we lack that but i think that is going to change soon. Some of us are fed up and we are willing to sacrifice even more! You are a part of history in America! This was by far the smartest mafia interview I've ever seen -- I'm gonna be binging Chris Colombo stuff now, guy is a very sharp guy, much respect
This was really incredible. I have to go see part 2 after this if it is posted yet. Chris said some things that really got me thinking that I have never heard before, and I think he is spot on. I plan on taking the time to look into it to see what I can find out. I cannot express how inspiring it is to see what both of them stand for today while actually making a difference in people's lives.

Same here with me , been binge watching them all lately
If you are lucky enough. Grandparents are great with children. They provide stability and calmness. Children need guidance. My dad who died many years ago, came from a large family. Very tough people. Really knew how to parent his grandchildren. It is something not valued these days.
Once again, amazing interview and video. This is a moment we need to cherish. Two of some of the last pieces of a huge and impactful part of US History.

Literally 1 minute of Mike and Chris speaking, the mannerisms, words, tone of voice instantly can tell these guys are from the La Cosa Nostra life so fascinating
Michael, you have one of the best channels on here. I really enjoy your telling of the Cosa Nostra was all about, and what it truly meant. So glad you turned your life around. If not, we would probably all be watching movies still, and believing that was the truth. God definitely had a plan for you. Respect to you, and your family.
My two (2) favorites having a "sit down" together. Thank you Michael and Chris! Chris's story about how his father died on that podcast he mentioned came up today for me on here on UA-cam®.
It broke my heart how his dad did not have a shunt put in in time to have the pressure in his brain not kill him. I know what Chris's father went through. Thank God I got my shunt in time at a young age and now I monitor it to make sure the pressure does not get that bad.
I love both of your guys respected channels!
Chris if you read this let's get (2023-2024) week #18 picks all correct!
You both are truly the greatest! Keep up the great work both of you, be safe, and God bless you both!
It's a stent not a stunt And your right. Difference is today an ARI would have located to blockage . Time fixes all.
@terrypaulson5945 No, it is not a stent that was suppose to be put in. A shunt was suppose to be put in Michael's father that is why the pressure on his father's brain is what most likely he died from. Not a stent.
@@terrypaulson5945 Chris has said in other interviews a shunt, not a stent. Anyway, "Joseph A. Colombo Sr. was operated on for two hours at Roosevelt Hospital yesterday to ease a blockage of fluid that had built up in his skull. The hospital called the operation “routine.” The New York Times

Michael, this is Bill Murray in Las Vegas. I was an early member of the Inner Circle and I hope that you remember me. Anyway you two mentioned gas prices today. Gas prices are KILLING the trucking industry. An industry that is VITAL to this country and every American. A few weeks ago, 290 American trucking companies went OUT of BUSINESS in ONE week, Then, Yellow Freight, a 90 year old company, went bankrupt and put 30,000 drivers on the street. My company has the BEST SOLUTION to this problem. We can save truckers 15% to 20% on diesel fuel costs - EASY!! We have THE solution. Have your people get in touch with me and I'll explain my statement. Thank you! PS - This is a legal solution!🙂
