this video will remain in the history of simracing as the most epic rig build EVER. thanks Barry :)
😄👍
Barry, I have to admit. U look pretty fresh for a guy that just gave away his kidney!
LoL
LOL! I wouldn't be surprised if Barry's an Adult Webmaster, driving 1000's per day to his signup pages and cashing in 24/7/365! :-)
I'm so used to Barry being such a wholesome dude (and having really nice gear) that this joke went over my head for a second.
Wait. Either way, joke or not, I never considered that I could sell a body part to get a motion rig. This is a fantastic idea. Where does one do this, Craigslist?
VR would take this setup to the next level.
You sir are a professional glad to see you are working with manufacturers to help improvement in R & D
Build this man a statue! He just created a dream!
We all want to get something like this more accessible and with no mounting hassle. Finger crossed!
What a great experiment to see how motion technology can evolve in the future. What an exciting time to be a sim racer! While this stuff ain't cheap now, expensive kit like this pushes the boundaries of how we achieve immersion across a variety of price points in the future. Love your work as always Barry.
Barrys videos are some of the best work on utube related to sim racing. Barry I wish you well health and hope to see more videos in the future my friend!
I can’t help watching this over and over again, this has become an obsession.
the review is so detailed that something so much close to reality is worthy watching again and again
I love how immaculate everything looks, not a speck of dust in sight
I know I will never be able to afford even a piece of something like this, but it's still really cool to see all the steps of the setup and effort that went into putting together. And it's really cool how effective it is. I hope one day I can try something like this. Thanks for the great content!
Soooo granular about eeevery siiiingle detail!
And it's bloody amazing!
I’ve been dreaming of this since they announced the traction plus. Thanks for filming this for us Gary!
Wake up Spongebob!
Man my DOFReality 3DOF is sweet & they do a 6DOF so there always a upgrade option but im good 4 now. Gr8 vid, i just can't help enjoy the DIY elements especially, good tools FTW!
Barry has finally achieved sim racing nirvana.
Proper VR is missing. ;)
Barry, I have to say your work here on UA-cam is fantastic!
Amazing effort, thanks for showing us the top end of your work
Dude...
I mean, just...dude...
I know it's crass to talk about money, but right there is like 5 years of mortgage repayments for my family home. I bloody love it. Full power to ya.
This is the epitome of excellence with regard to presentation and completeness of review. Unparalleled to be honest.
That said, and zero criticism intended, I feel the monitors should be in motion as well. What I noticed most was all the motion but the monitors static really messed with me. I didn't even realize it could be impactful until I watched this review. Feeling like vr would be the way to go here and glad I noticed this as I'm researching systems.
Thank you for your intense reviews. They are appreciated.
Awesome! Seat belt looks like it needs to be mounted in a different spot so it doesn't tighten up under braking.
Amazing! Now time for JCL and others to market this for us to buy as a kit. :)
pinnacle right here. doesn't get any better than this really.
That's an awesome setup!
This is absolutely awesome!
As always, love the videos Barry! That 2nd driver looks very familiar haha ;D. I had a blast trying out the sim, it definitely gave me some perspective of what sim racing can become! P.s. Going back to my simple setup was not such a fun experience :P. Anyways cheers Barry, keep up the great videos!
This is the next level crazy...... and I love it.
Barry, you've done a cracking job with this. If I win the lottery I'll be picking your brains for the ultimate rig 😂
Dream Build Barry 👍 you rock bro ✌️🤘
Imagine this set-up with a VR headset!?!?
Looks like barry went and got himself an early christmas present....haha nice rig barry. If it doesnt have barry stamp of approval then it aint worth your hard earned greenbacks! Thanks for making me drool all over my phone while watching this
so far, all your videos are awesome. Very informative and enjoyable tos ee the technical stuff.
a suggestion though, for the part when you were showing gameplay use around 1 hour mark
an OVERHEAD CAMERA (ceiling mounted) would be really nice. (be nice to see how much it moves in a Plan view)
anyway just a suggestion for these kinds of video
Not gonna lie, I wanna see someone do some drifting in this :D It would shake the hell out of it!
wow, you've gone above and beyond! would you mind posting a short clip on how the Traction Plus platform handles rapid back-and-forth yaw movement on rally games such as Dirt Rally 1/2.0 or RBR? curious how quick-responding and robust the system is in such sims/games.
i just started getting interested in "sim" racing recently, after revisiting the original gran turismo and v-rally 2... and finally decided I had to get a wheel to properly enjoy games like dirt rally or asseto corsa... and the more I look into it, the more I see incredible things that are incredibly expensive as well. I had no idea people had sim rigs like that in their homes. But I think for now, I'll get a thrustmaster T300, and that should get me started ^^
The way I look at it, makes a lot of sense if you don't have the means to race irl. I mean just to get into a grassroots motorsport like SPEC Miata, you need a $30k race car. Then you're buying tires and fuel for every track, transportation to the track, repairs when things break, or an accident happens. Then you've got all the safety gear, the time it takes for travel, the crew you need. In the end you have a 30-50k initial investment, then 10-15k/year to keep racing. Whereas with something like this, it's a bit 20-30k initial investment, then only few $100/year in maintenance and games.
Wyld stallions.
On a serious note, the only thing that could top this is a real race car.
Nah, there are better simulator set ups than this , such as the one that Red Bull has in their factory its basically an F1 chassis on-top of a 6DoF motion system
Great job Barry!
You always do a great job of explaining everything. I can't believe this is a year old already.
Question :How is this rig doing? Knowing what you know would you still do it the same or have you made improvements?
Barry.... you have officially lost your mind, but I love it hahaha.
This guy is very bright with lots of great info. Also a wee bit obtuse. Watch it at ~~1.5x~~ 1.75x and thank me later
"Dear Santa,..." Wow. I race very happily with my "optimized low-budget" setup so I honestly don't get very envious but this is an incredible rig. It just needs VR or at least have the monitors added to the motion.
Yes!! Awesome Video!! PT actuators? I just sold my Dbox for them! Next would be a GS5 seat or Geko G seat to complete your package Barry. Looking forward to your video if you are doing a review on these products! Congrats on owning a 6Dof Barry!
Newbie Sim Racer
Hi
I to have already PT system
Can you please contact me
wajdi.1977@gmail.com
Thanks
I might sell the kids for them
JCL should put your mounting scheme into production and include it with the V4 D-Box Motion.
Amazing build!!! But damn those prices on the JCL racing v4 Dbox 😫🤯🤑 and here I thought the $6k for the NLR part was bad lol!!!
Awsome mate
would love to see how the rig reacts to the corkscrew on laguna.
dude i love your voice so much
That’s the ultimate motion rig for your house
Would be incredible to see this vs a DOF Reality H6!
This would wipe the floor with h6 no doubt. Not really fair comparison considering the price difference anyway
I'm afraid I have to agree, and I imagine so would the DOFReality fellahs; this against their H6/P6 would not be a fair fight. Two very different classes/types of machinery. This guy here just went beast style on us.
what is the brand/model of automatic center punch you use? or recommend?
Hi Barry, great video as always. I'm particularly fascinated by the slide rail pedal tray. Could you share the name of the make and model or a link to where I can buy one?
Barry, will you test and review the gForce Factory EDGE 6D at some future date?
Hi, thank you for all these informations. I was wondering about your seat. what brand is that and model ? thank you
did you mount the belt harness purposely that way so when you brake the harness gets tighter on the driver as the platform moves forward?
I asked you in an email if this was possible, glad to see it.
Oh yeah buddy, man your setup will be sweet if you will add that NLR traction loss as well!💪👌
R-VR Closet it is likely a possibility with a seat mover at first then moving into the four actuators and surge motion setup in the works.
Do you have a link for these aluminum actuator cups? Thanks...
I’m wondering. Would it be better if the monitors are connected to the chassi for the sideways movement or maybe the camera angle is not showing that the image is actually moving sideways too.
I noticed you've been daily driving the Wave Italy Impetus pedals. Has the PRX pedal set finally been surpassed in your eyes?
I am curious if it is a platform for learning the motion of cars or just suitable for experienced driver to re-confirm their muscle memory? will this set-up good for training the muscle memory of driving?
How does this compare the experience of using the Motion Plus with the V3 given that the two are optimised to work together in terms of hardware and software and your custom build is not?
The dream setup right there!!💪🎉🏆
I need a bigger closet!.. 😅
R-VR Closet R-VR Walk In Closet.
@@OhItsThat Hehehe, the one I have is kinda a walk in closet, but I would need a bigger one..😂
That´s awesome. I hope, I´ll get the opportunity to try this in the future! There´s one thing, I thought about also in your last nextlevel video. Maybe it´s more realistic to attach the screens to the motion platform, what do you think about it?
Have you ever tried a Force Dynamics?
6x the price, but after trying a couple at a couple conventions, everything else is a toy.
The rig in this video looks pretty good for the price.
Barry, do you like this or the next level gaming full setup with motion and traction system? It’s more in my price range. Wanted your thoughts after watching both videos
Ιf you had a safety belt clamping on you when you brake or when the hit the throttle or in the corners would be the best !!!
awesome, so when will you add the gs5 g seat on top?🤣
Hi, we cant get double traction loss with Next Level Plataform or PT-Actuators Double traction loss platform. What is the best and more realistic one??
Tnx a lot for any help!!
Ok, wow! That is truly impressive; I've never been as much of a green-eyed-monster as I am right now. I love creative build projects, and this is ideal because I've recently jumped on the DD train and have been wondering what's next. 🤔🤤
Nicest "garage" I have ever seen! Do you recommend using 80/20 40 series lite or standard in Rig mods and builds?
It looks like adding this to an existing 80/20 profile rig would cost about $32k. Though I do not expect I will ever have the required buying power, I think this makes more sense than spending that kind of money on a "fun" second car.
Another fantastic video Barry!!! Would you mind sharing where you got the aluminum plate and its dimensions? I am thinking about doing the same thing but with the JCL 4 and the Sim Labs Team Redline so the whole rig is lighter...
Ebay. 165mm x 510mm x 6.5mm.
I wish you were my neighbor. I would spend the money for this stuff, but not before I could try it out.. lol
Boss 👏👏👏👏👏
Awesome stuff Barry!! That's an incredible rig - and you're a wizard!
Now one thing that always - in lack of a better term - bothers me a bit about your motion setups, is the fact, that the view is not aligned with the motion. With such great effort to achieve realistic movement nothing could stop me at least from hard-mounting the monitors to the rig. If they'd take it well to get tossed around like that, well that's another story I believe. Again: Awesome awesome stuff!
That and fix the view. If my seat is bouncing, I don't need the view to bounce as well.
LordShargaas That‘s what I was implying as well. Even on my non-motion rig the dashboard is steady, because my wheel is. I don‘t like the dash dancing around the wheel-shaft. Kills the immersion for me. The surroundings might bounce as they like ;)
You sound like the voice of Kitt from Knight Rider!
Hi, would you say the D-box motion system along with the Traction plus motion platform is essential for realistic feeling when sim racing on Formula 1 games? also do you think both together would be compatible for mounting with a regular F1 playsseat cockpit?
For the love of god I don't think that the formula 1 codemasters games can even support a motion rig
I was expecting way more work to get this set up to mesh well but it's a surprisingly small amount of adjustments
HOLY SHIT!
This thing cost more than 10k! I don’t know if you have a more detailed price but man that’s awesome
$35kish
You dont have simxperience stage IV anymore ? Why ? Is this better ?
Hey Barry any Rift S stuff coming soon?
Barry, Can you price the build out please? Thx
Hi bro..Is this setup combine with two different brand?..Next Level Traction Control + Sim Rig + 6DOF???
To your memory, given both were conducted with the 488 on Sebring, how does this compare with DOFReality's 6DOF system? Both reviews were great to watch, but am uncertain the NLR system is more realistic as implied. The NLR system appears to be too smooth for such a track and car while the DOF system appears to be more aggressive. The last hairpin is a clear indicator of this difference. The NLR show very little motion where the DOF was acknowledging the surface changes and the vehicle dynamics. Assuming you have driven dedicated track cars in addition to your SIM rig, they are not comfortable cars especially on tracks like Sebring that mix surface types. I look forward to your feedback and thank you again for your amazing reviews
Wow man, do you have a race car?
I that the final form? :p
I was lauphed at everytime I said that im faster with motion than without lol think this is an overkill because a 6 actuators system in hex setup will do the job for a bit less and maybe better.
Leonard Cheri - or worse ... cheaper, no doubt. better ... not in my opinion ... this hex setups are for show and they are slow motion 6DoF when it comes to SimRacing.
Im not saying that it’s impossible and that the combination of JCL V4 P1X and the Traction platform is perfect.
It’s the direction to go. There will be SFX100 systems with a combined Surge/traction platform build very soon ...
If they will be better than d-Box? We will see
@@RalfBlees So you are telling us F1 teams are using show stuff for practice and development but not the best stuff? How dumb are these geniuses!
Hey Barry, If you ever consider making an easy to install cockpit for non handy people like myself but with your golden hands and knowledge, i would buy it ! Let The 'Roland Pro 2000' be born Barry!
Kozz Mozz I agree, he could sell a lot of things. Many times you see a rig or his rig, but do not catch the custom made parts he has created. He says he has no time which I do believe. I assumed one time it took him 4-8 hours to shoot these videos and edit them and he laughed at me, than educated me on how much time it takes. And for a guy doing this strictly for passion and not getting paid by companies he reviews products for, that tells you his passion for the World of sim racing is second to none.
Amazing but one thing missing, i would love to try this but with the monitors connected to the rig otherwise i feel like your moving but the screens are not
This is exactly how i feel about these motion rigs. Id never be able to afford one but when I day dream of the ultimate rig Id have. The screens would be mounted to the chassis. So they would move with the motion. All that work and money on immersion but the screens are static. A bit of an oversight to me. Quite a few of the profile rigs have triple screen mount add ons you can buy.
They could mount the monitors, but the versa mounts atent strong enough to be thrown around by the motion. You can compensate by changing the display paint compensates what it displays to your movement.
you can compensate with something like a trackIR 5
@@Airwreckgaming not easy to do tho. did you get that idea from Boosted Media lol
So which company is going to iterate on this design? Next Level?
IS THAT BETTER THAN DOFReality H6 Motion ?
Does this work with PT ?
Can you test whether you get motion sickness with 6 DoF platform like this in a VR headset, preferably Valve Index? It's got the highest refresh without ghosting and the best tracking. Please don't try the other headsets because of their cheaper price and false advertisement.
As you know the motion sickness in VR is due to your body not feeling G forces when you are seeing it. With this platform maybe you will have zero issues playing iRacing and/or Assetto Corsa. I know there are people playing iRacing in their regular setup but they do it by training couple of minutes every day until they get comfortable to up the play time. Also they disable head shake and close their eyes in the event of an accident.
Perhaps a vesaro cockpit will keep the look less bulky and reduce the overall weight
yungdadi - im 190 pounds ... there has to be a way to save more weight at least 40pounds
Can we see some Dirt Rally 2.0 please Barry? Smooth circuit based racing is all well and good but the motion systems really don't have to work hard or respond that fast compared to the constant changing conditions in rally.
Check NLR site for compatible games.
HOLY SHIT
Hey Barry. Did you use the standard SimLab angle brackets to mount the NLR V3 to the GT1 EVO? I just tried and they’re to small. I’m wondering what you used? Thanks buddy, Happy Holidays.
OhItsThat hi, I mounted the V3 to my GT1 EVO with the 6 angle brackets whitch came with the Simlab GT1 EVO. Fitted just fine by me.
R R That’s crazy. Is there spacers or something? Mine were about a 1/4 of an inch short on one side. I don’t understand how that is. My GT1 EVO is assembled correctly. All bolts are tight. I use the Podium mount wheel deck and not the standard deck. If it wasn’t done correctly I’d never be able to use that podium mount...or the pedal plate. When did you get your GT1 EVO?
OhItsThat hi, my GT1 EVO was delivered in may 2019. Wish i could send some pictures but not possible trough comments on UA-cam.
R R It’s ok my friend. I appreciate the information. I sent an email to SimLab. I have my V3 installed, I just had to use spacers.
OhItsThat whow. Just seen ur setup trough ur youtube channel. Impressive and really nice! Great job!
Love watching your stuff looking at the DOF reality P6 but seen this i wonder on the price though
When I read the prices correctly Ist would be 24k USD combined. 6k for the traction plus and 18k for the dbox system plus the various little components
@@RISCy27 yeah that's why I think I'll go with the dof reality I wish you could just get the actuators and motors so I could biuld my own seat system not sure how much weight it could handle though.
I have contacted Pt Actuator. They have a 6 DOF System with 7 Actuators for 13k plus shipping...
00:35 i love your small smiling when you said this :p
Much like deadmau5, 6dof was also misunderstood when premiered to the public.
Hey Barry - Great review- after looking at PTactuator's own "Platform Pre-built only for TL", it seems to be a cheaper and easier way of adding 6th DOF here. Thoughts ?
From what I have seen and built, yes completely doable. I don't think you would be able to clear the box that houses the AASD15 drive, but seeing how you will only have one for this setup, just don't use it. No idea how well the D-BOX controller software will play with SimTools. Only one way to find out...
@@simracinggarage3026 awesome ! from what I've looked up online, it depends on the game - older ones might not work well... thanks for your reply (and for your channel, it's a bible !)
i wish i were Barry's friend!
