    I am a synth builder (and a humble flight sim-er). DIY synths cabling is often a nightmare. So i can only imagine the phenomenal work in this incredible build. So many errors can occur... And the whole thing is just a dream. Bravo.

    This is a labour of love. I cannot think how many hours you spent on this, let alone your wife allowing you to install next to the kitchen :)

      It is fortunately the main kitchen of the house. It's in a small rental appartment in the basement. I have spent a lot of wife acceptance points, but building a sim in the kitchen would not be accepted 🤣

    Well done Sir. I do like all the metal elements within your design. I'd like to build this same out of wood if I could find the right plans or Dimensional data. There are a lot of images online but have yet to find a complete DIY set of scale plans. Like others, respect for your knowledge and intelligence to put this all together.

      Thank you very much! If you look at 737DIYSIM: youtube.com/@helimech8152?si=qVQrNFs_hj_EnoYZ and go to his website, I believe there are plans for a complete cockpit. I found that making my own CAD model was a good way of consolidating dimensional data that is available online. I had to go through a lot of iterations using the online data as reference and guidance as it was impossible to make a consistent model by using the data blindly. Making a CAD model is also beneficial as incoperates the selected method of manufacturing componets, which differers greatly between cockpitbuilders.

    Hi! An indredible work! I want to ask you:
    Is everything there made by you? What percentage of the materials and modules was actually bought? I am seeing a logo of a company on the midpanel. So, as you said 10-30k, is this euros and what is meant with these range?
    What's the way of having producing the backlit panels? Is a painter plastic board which is then milled? And is there a way of 3d print the PCB boards for your project?

    • @B738DIY
      @B738DIY  7 місяців тому +2

      Thank you! The main components I bought as finished flight simulator parts are the throttle quadrant, the glear wings and the start switches. The rest is my diy design which I have either 3D printed, CNC machined my self or had a local company laser cut out of aluminium. I of course have bought the standard switches, monitors connectors etc. 10 - 30 k euro / USD is my guess. It is very hard to give an accurate estimate of a diy project. It depends on the what hardware you buy. A magnetic switch will cost 900 USD, lockin toggle switches can cost 40 USD a piece. While the same fuctions can be covered by switches costing 1 USD. Then you have the cost of machines for fabricating parts which can be a very cheap or expensive. Then there is the issue of creating accurate bill of materials so that buying wrong parts is minimized.
      I created backlit panels by CNC machining opal cast plexiglass. The backlight PCBs are etched, see www.youtube.com/@reps which has a video on using laser to create PCBs for home etching. Would recomend using a service as PCBWAY or JLCPCB for PCBs.

    EXCELLENT - So upgrades? are you thinking Max? or poss filling in the spaces with 787 hardware? OH, do you log your flight hours? - that should be fun. You may have more flight hours in your 737 sim. than most new hires with carriers. Does your set up offer emergencies, engine outs and so forth? Cheers....

    • @B738DIY
      @B738DIY  8 місяців тому

      Thank you! The upgrade I'm currently working on is to add motion to the simulator (pitch and roll). I do not have any log outside what MSFS logs. Maybe I should get a proper log book :) I'm using Prosim 737 that which has options for triggering emergencies, however I have not used it so far.

    • @md1400cs
      @md1400cs 8 місяців тому

      Brilliant - adding pitch that gives a sensation of pushing you back into your seat after V1 will be such a nice addition. Adding roll as well - both perfect indeed!!! @@B738DIY

      Hey Alcenes, Just another fellow sim builder here. In case you're interested, there is a Sim company focused on the 737 that does sell a metal frame a lot like DIY's the one thing you wouldn't get is, the wondow frames, side walls and headliner panels. Again, if interested, check em out. Best - Jeff
