I wish more people knew about this not because I think it's all that funny (I mean, a joke or two got a chuckle from me), but because it clashes so hard with Howie Mandel's current image
I think Robin William knew that Mandel had OCD, he actually grabs his wrist. Fist bumps were not a thing back then and Mandel wanted a career. Howie did not seek help until late into his adulthood and his ADHD was more than apparent too.
Yep. Before Louis we had terrible people like Red Foxx, George Carlin, Chris Rock, Andrew Dice Clay, Richard Pryor, Bill Hicks, Rodney Dangerfield, Stephen Wright, Lenny Bruce, Mitch Hedberg, Joan Rivers, Roseanne Bar, Lewis Black, Bob Newhart, Andy Kaufman, Phyllis Diller, Jack Benny, Gene Wilder, Woody Allen, Steve Martin, David Letterman, Ellen DeGeneres, Don Rickles, Sam Kinison, Garry Shandling and others of their ilk. Truly a dark time for comedy.
I was watching AGT and I realized that I had never seen Howie do stand up before. i went on UA-cam to see this. I now realize that the 1980's version of comedy was screeching and stuttering...
It's 2019 , and im checking this out ; because im watching Season 8 of AGT , and Howie mentioned 1987 . Just wanted to see how he was . Gotta say . . ❎❎❎❎ 😶
He is freakin' hilarious!!!! Read his book and you'll see that he was outrageous in life before he EVER got to a stage! I just wish he still DID stand up!!!
Lmao you serious, the dude is a hack no talent fuckturd, if you think this is funny your one easy lay at the bars with cheese, corney pick up lines ahaha.
What I find comforting as a recently diagnosed adult with ADHD is knowing what neurodivergency looks like and loving my tribe because I thought I was alone in this, and I'm not. I'm thankful that there's proof of us existing. I'm thankful that we exist.
The REAL comedians exited the stage before his act. Howie is extremely fortunate to have saved his stand-up career with acting roles, game show hosting and AGT judging. His stand-up suffered because he had a difficult time writing new material and thus used the same jokes for years
What's with his jittery movements??? He does the same movements over and over and I've seen him do the hand twist thing at the audience in other performances. He also constantly hits his forehead, just like in his other shows. Like....did he have other problems before that he grew out of???
From Howie Mandel's Twitter account: U made me smile RT @shutterpug: @howiemmandel I work in a busy ER and today did your glove trick to ease fears in a child. Made him smile.
I miss a lot of things about the 80s...but the "being intentionally weird" thing is one I can leave behind. Howie and Bobcat Goldthwaite and all them...
Compare this to the Howie Mandel on America's Got Talent. All of a sudden he's a germaphobe and won't shake hands with anyone. The most decent thing he has done since this has been to give the stuttering comedian a golden buzzer. And to see that it looked like he was doing it more for himself then the poor kid that he was sending on.
All the haters...this guy is worth about 100 million bucks now. No regrets for him. What the fuck do you do? Work at some shitty job and watch youtube at home?
The demand by so many people here that a comedian can only fit your definition - meaning telling a bunch of scripted jokes - rather than being manic and crazy with physical humor is really arrogant. You don't have to like his comedy or his style and you can complain about what he did nearly 40 years ago or you can embrace how he was unique, and different, and manic and it worked for him. But then he evolved. What I find most compelling, and confusing, is the complete lack of hesitation about physical contact and specifically shaking hands. Clearly his OCD and germophobia has changed over time as well and apparently not in good ways.
@@dancegod1691 Damn I forgot that I even made a comment. But even still, for some it does progress over the years. I mean you can't deny that over the years it's really gotten bad for the guy based on the timeline from this clip to the one, I forget the year, where he started screaming when a dude forcibly shook his hand
*hits red buzzer*
In the 80's you could be a comedian, and not tell one joke.....What a fantastic decade.
Since the beginning of time. Mimes, Jesters, pratfalls, slapstick, etc.
yes but those things are funny@@gatchrocks
Wow this would get all four buzzers lmao
I wish more people knew about this
not because I think it's all that funny (I mean, a joke or two got a chuckle from me), but because it clashes so hard with Howie Mandel's current image
Never seen him like this
Cocaine's a helluva drug
Johnny Boy Strikes Back ADHD
That's what they all say
robbin williams will be missed :(
HE SHOOK THEIR HANDS!!!!
I think Robin William knew that Mandel had OCD, he actually grabs his wrist. Fist bumps were not a thing back then and Mandel wanted a career. Howie did not seek help until late into his adulthood and his ADHD was more than apparent too.
@@lisadole8183 He needed the attention in the 90s
i guess in the 80s this was considered funny
It was a dark time before Louis CK fixed stand up comedy.

what do you mean by "terrible people"?????
No it wasn’t
Fuck you mean considered funny?? This is hilarious
I miss this howie
There is no chance in hell he wasn't on drugs or something.
Omg I hear Maurice! 😀 I couldn't believe that was him!
He was so good on St. Elsewhere. I saw mHowie in concert in Chicago back in the 80s and I'm still laughing. He def broke the mold. 😂
This was funny...in the 80's. I remember laughing my behind off at this but now, not so much.
This has to be the hardest bomb ever. The cuts of the crowd and laugh track ain’t adding up. Not even a single standing ovation
a standing ovation in the middle of a show? okay...
Howie proves that persistence beats talent
I was watching AGT and I realized that I had never seen Howie do stand up before. i went on UA-cam to see this. I now realize that the 1980's version of comedy was screeching and stuttering...
I bet you think racist jokes AREN'T funny

*hits golden buzzer*
What is everybody talking about? He is bloody hysterical!!!!! Love it!
He was a riot, I saw him live and it was excellent!!!
No… this is hacky, lazy, uninspired
If this is your idea of comedy and what is funny than I feel really bad for you, you must have the most boring life ever
Damn lady you need a lesson of what comedy really is.
i love how it looks like he really has to go take a pee
R.I.P robin Williams 1951-2014
Please dont tell me youre serious
He did die
+Adam Gugel this is howie mandel...
+Andrew Oyama robin williams is in this also
+Andrew Oyama Robin was seen in the beginning introducing howie
HA, he makes NO sense at all and I for some reason love it!
It's a no from me
you got 4 fat no's get the fuck off stage
hahahaha
He's trash
this was genious!!!
He had hair
He shaves it
+DoctorXCraft He lost it
Blowhorn Man He shaves his head
Alton Giventer No he did not. He revealed on Howard Stern that he didn't go bald. He shaves his head because he likes the 'clean feel' of it.
Yes he did
That's not Howie Mandel, he would never have shaken the hosts hands
He is freakin' hilarious!!!! Read his book and you'll see that he was outrageous in life before he EVER got to a stage! I just wish he still DID stand up!!!
I think he still does, but maybe not as much.
Lmao you serious, the dude is a hack no talent fuckturd, if you think this is funny your one easy lay at the bars with cheese, corney pick up lines ahaha.
Fucking preach brother!!!!
Wow! He's wired out of his mind.
im very confused on what i just watched lol
Me too
Me 3
Peak ‘comedy’ this.
I love Howie Mandel remember him from little monsters??? great movie
Howie was so awesome! Absolutely some of the best memories of the 80’s.
I don't get how I'm seeing so many comments saying this was bad, I genuinely got such a kick out of it!
What I find comforting as a recently diagnosed adult with ADHD is knowing what neurodivergency looks like and loving my tribe because I thought I was alone in this, and I'm not.
I'm thankful that there's proof of us existing.
I'm thankful that we exist.
This is soooo different than the howie Mandel today
What would actually be hilarious is if howie still did this act today
I was crying from laughter, this is hysterical! He is awesome!
Are you serious?
@@Handofseeds Who wouldnt be this is peak comedy
Thumbs up if watching in 2012!
The REAL comedians exited the stage before his act. Howie is extremely fortunate to have saved his stand-up career with acting roles, game show hosting and AGT judging. His stand-up suffered because he had a difficult time writing new material and thus used the same jokes for years
wow humor has evolved a lot...
if this was 2016, he would get bood. lol! no hate. just an opinion. I love Howie!
absolutely unhinged and nuts !
if a stand up did this now he would never get out of open mic night.
I liked him in St. Elsewhere as Fiscus.
This is how you make people laugh Arthur Fleck!
He used to make appearances on a show called "Bizarre" with John Byner in the 80's . I wish someone would post some of those on youtube.
Howie said he stopped doing the balloon trick because he blew out his Sinus cavity.
I guess the coke didn't help much either.
why you all gotta be haters
Holy shit this was terrible, I figured he would be kind of funny but damn
Comedy has changed throughout the years bro, this was prolly hella funny back in the days
yeah. isn't this around Gallagher's heyday?
+Justin B indeed
Andrew Oyama yeah..... No
the 80s . had to be there
What's with his jittery movements??? He does the same movements over and over and I've seen him do the hand twist thing at the audience in other performances. He also constantly hits his forehead, just like in his other shows. Like....did he have other problems before that he grew out of???
its a bit. hes playing a character
From Howie Mandel's Twitter account: U made me smile RT @shutterpug: @howiemmandel I work in a busy ER and today did your glove trick to ease fears in a child. Made him smile.
Because this is comedy, and that's what they came for.
this is just awkward.....and dont say its because its the 80's.coz there were lots of funny stand up comedians in the 80's
Lol I just love how he's so crazy and can't stand still! :)
Yeh meth is a funny drug isn't it
oh my gosh billy crystal, robin williams and howie mandel look so different now than then!
so funny back then.......
was he high?...???....?😮
Not funny here but give him a few years and you have the greatest comedic talent EVER.
Gold buzzer
Was that Richard Donner in the crowed? He directed Superman: the movie, Lethal Weapon all 4 films, The Goonies.
He's hilarious, he's comical and brings on a lot of laughs!
That was funny? Ummm ok. 😂
He should act like this on deal or no deal.
100% crazy : )
i was just being born as this was on tv :/
I want that bag.
Lol, it was funny!
I miss a lot of things about the 80s...but the "being intentionally weird" thing is one I can leave behind. Howie and Bobcat Goldthwaite and all them...
In the future he will make a great judge of talent, having none himself, obviously.
He was on an Emmy winning drama at the same time. It did have better writing though.
This is Carrot Top good!
It is maurice from little monsters

He's had ocd which has gotten worse since he was younger if you look it up ocd is much worse than you think
Wow just wow is like if howie got captured by aliens and they erased his mind. Or he got lobotomized.
AGT would have buzzed him already.
I find this shit funny idk why you people are flaming this.
@chinacat he is shaking hands...and he is" OCD" hmm
Is this a character or...?
This was just his style of stand up. An awkward weird style. Like Adam Sandler or Robin Williams
No he just sucks but his perception is so poor he can't even realize that fooling self
Haha that was actually pretty good.
Pretty sure he was making a point about the homeless condition.
All the haters...this guy is worth about 100 million bucks now. No regrets for him. What the fuck do you do? Work at some shitty job and watch youtube at home?

He was able to shake hands back then???
Looks like people in the 80s needed anything with a tag of entertainment on it. This is the most UNFUNNY thing I've ever seen.
How mandel was nuts. Nobody including me understood his insane humor.
I thought he was doing an impression of bob goldthwait.
A lot of people saying this is really bad. I think so too. But this is probably the 80s comedy and we just don't fucking understand it.
80's had awesome comedy, this aint it
did he just shake someone's hand
This was from his very early days. He got much funnier when he dropped the Jerry Lewis idiocy!
i'd watch TV and the bowl kept overflowing ROFLMAO
Thought he was a germaphobe... I guess not..
It's gotten worse. Plus this was in 1987, 28 years ago

He sounds like Maurice from Little Monsters

In 30 years, Howie only lost his hair.
